Dan: "I always say how you shouldn't use impact drivers on your suspension" Me, who put in new strut assembly last week using an impact driver repeatedly: *:O*
Man, Dan genuinely looks like a cool guy to hangout with, don’t even gotta be doin nothin, It’s just CoolAssDan; first time I gotten a comment highlighted:,) the happiness
Little pro tip I learned at my high school Auto class, when working on calipers you can use a old clothes hanger to hold the caliper up. Anyways truck looks sweet! Keep up the good work!
I remember watching Dan when I first started to get into riding and enjoying his bike vids. Now after buying my first truck at 15 and getting into all that now I’m enjoying all of his builds and he’s slowly becoming my favorite UA-camr.
I took my obs chevy to a shop one time for ball joints and those assholes wanted 500 dollars for only 1 ball joint and it wasnt even what I wanted them to put on there. So I did what any smart 20 something year old would do and learned how to do it all myself so now I don't have to pay outrageous prices. Your videos are great Dan keep it up man!
There’s a ground strap from the chassis harness to the frame on the drivers side. I ran into the same issue when I lowered my truck. It’s literally at the back of the truck near the bumper. Hope that helps.
Hay Dan, when installing wheel bearings that castle nut is only supposed to go on snug and then backed off like 1/8 turn. Drivers side looks like you might be replacing rotor and bearings again. Just my opinion. Love watching your builds keep doing your thing man!
Take a BFH to the knuckle where the tapered end of the ball joint fits in and it will shock it loose with a couple good hits. No need for a pickle fork and you won't tear the boot if you plan on reusing the ball joint. This also works for tie rod ends.
When snapped that bolt his expression was the same as mine when I was doing a water pump replacement on my 01 tundra and realized whoever did it before had over torqued the bolt so when I came to undo it she snapped off in my block. Piece of that bolts still stuck in my block but heli coils definitely fixed that shit😅
A pickle fork is a priceless tool in my opinion. Also this reminded me of when I got sent camaro springs for my 01 Silverado and put it all together without knowing til it was sitting on the lower control arms in my driveway
Dan, i have a 97 2500 obs. i had the same issue. Im not it'll will fix the problem but, check the 3 way plug that your trailer lights splice in with your tail lights. it should be on the driver side inside of the frame behind the axel. You'll know whatit is when you see it. itll look like the actual trailer plug. i removed mine and it fixed it. Try it an see if that will make a difference. maybe a different situation but its worth looking at. lmk
my bed trick is cross some ratchet straps to the tie down points and I have put a pallet under the straps and used a fork lift to remove the bed or you could maybe use an engine lift that way too
You can hit the spindle around where the ball joint or tie-rod goes in and it will pop it out. That will keep you from mushrooming the threads or tearing the boot with a pickle fork.
Pro tip: when removing your wheel lug nuts. Use a star pattern. As you can possibly warp your rotors when releasing the pressure on the wheels in a circle pattern
@ZombieBoy When you loosen them, you should use the star pattern too. The theory is to keep the pressure equal, so the metal will not warp, all 5 or 6 studs and lug nuts will share the same equal pressure to the wheel. Use a torque wrench to tighten them, check the torque specs for your car, look up your car owner's manual. Just googled it for you. In text books from tech schools as well. Never seen it happen. But I have always used this method. As it doesn’t really take any longer for me to do. 🤷🏻♂️
When I was younger I HATED lowered trucks, I thought it was the dumbest thing ever. Now I wish I had one, a new Z71 Colorado slammed with Ohlins and a turbo tuned for 500 HP 😆
If I'm not mistaken there's a white ground wire for the lights running under the spare tire that always causes crazy blinker problems. Might of torn taking the bed off or something
Dan to save time when replacing spindle, upper and lower controls, unbolt control arms from frame and leave spindle attached. No need to fight the ball joints that way. It will come out as an assembly. :)
Ground wires friend. you need to fix the ground wires after you took the box off you had a wire from the gas tank to the frame and to the body/filler neck. then you have one that goes from the frame to the cross member for the rail mount where the wires connect to the box. might as well also change teh ground strap to the body and engine. and as well change the wires for the Battery. that solves many of the issues on GM trucks. I had a few. From brand new 1988 GMC and used to to 560000K's Snow plowing and all. to a 1996, 03, 07 and soon a new one.
Now amigo you’re going to get a lot of people from the valley Texas telling you that truck is mamalona “ bad ass” we roll low lol it’s looking fine amigo saludos from San Antonio.
Idk if you’ll read this but if you purchase an air hammer is comes in handy for many different things you can hit the knuckle with the air hammer by the ball joint and they come right out most the time!!👍
Might need to re torque all the suspension bolts couple days after you lowered the truck due to the suspension will settle a little bit looks awesome I have the belltech drop kit with lowering keys for my 06 YukonXl just need the front lowering spindles still though
So I have a 98 c1500 ! When I bought it the tail lights didn’t work at all. My buddy ordered me new tail lights from Amazon with bulbs and that fixed my issue...
Dan your tail lights probably need a resistor if they are LED. this is common in LED upgrades, check vette lights out to see if he can help with the set up.
For future spindle removal, next time just loosen up the castle nuts on the ball joints and pound on the lower control arm until it pops loose. Also bump stops Dan.
Lemme tell ya bud. My first truck was a minty old obs. Just hack the exhaust off at the beds on the manifolds and send 2 ten foot pipes on her straight back
Dan's khaki pants have seen more ground action than Monica did under bills desk.
OH. MY. GOD
@@DOITWITHDAN hey Dan no quema cuhh!
@@DOITWITHDAN the link to the kit no worky.
Him saying his truck won’t be a build is like WHISTLING DIESEL saying he will actually keep a truck nice 😂😂😭😭
THIS!!!!
* Unlikes comment *
There's three things you can count on in this life. Death, taxes and Dan is going to mod it.
“Imma keep it stock”
Famous last words
Yeah I remember when he said that this is just going to be a work truck and not gonna do all that much to it maybe just a sound system that's it
Every car guy says this, then a month later the thing has a turbo ls in it a month later.
definitely not a build: "Im gonna cut the frame"
Stock means the engine doesnt come out
Bolt: Snaps
Dan: *OH BILLLY*
the despair in his eyes. pain.
On today’s episode of Dan using tools unconventionally: A HYDRAULIC LIFT
anything can be a hammer
Dan: "I always say how you shouldn't use impact drivers on your suspension"
Me, who put in new strut assembly last week using an impact driver repeatedly: *:O*
I mean just the shocks lol
Man, Dan genuinely looks like a cool guy to hangout with, don’t even gotta be doin nothin, It’s just CoolAssDan; first time I gotten a comment highlighted:,) the happiness
It's all cool till I throw a tantrum and throw stuffm then it's cringy AF
This this the first time Dan has ever been taller than a truck?😂
Little pro tip I learned at my high school Auto class, when working on calipers you can use a old clothes hanger to hold the caliper up. Anyways truck looks sweet! Keep up the good work!
In the two years I've watched this channel I don't think I've seen a single project get finished 😂
He did complete war horse
He finished the 4 meat pizza
And that's how we like it
Well this definitely isnt a project😉 soooo I think he'll finish it
A project is truly never finished
“I’m just looking for non impact sockets for my impact and I found this little guy”
Glad we have you to test the durability of Sonics tools.
I'm putting these TO WORK lmao

The best way to say it is that Dan has the wrinkliest smooth brain ever.
There’s a ground strap from the chassis harness to the frame on the drivers side. I ran into the same issue when I lowered my truck. It’s literally at the back of the truck near the bumper. Hope that helps.
Dan: It'S nOt A bUiLd
Also Dan: Pulls the bed off and chops the frame up
Hay Dan, when installing wheel bearings that castle nut is only supposed to go on snug and then backed off like 1/8 turn. Drivers side looks like you might be replacing rotor and bearings again. Just my opinion. Love watching your builds keep doing your thing man!
Dan: I’m going to show you how to take off control arms now
Also Dan: beats control arms into submission
Take a BFH to the knuckle where the tapered end of the ball joint fits in and it will shock it loose with a couple good hits. No need for a pickle fork and you won't tear the boot if you plan on reusing the ball joint. This also works for tie rod ends.
That crazy look in Dans eyes when hes hitting shit with a hammer
Another great Doitwith "I'm gonna keep it stock" Dan video...
This was really similar when I lowered my 85 Monte Carlo SS. Bel tech is super nice and I love their product
Truck looks awesome Dan...keep up the excellent work you do...truly proud of you brother...
Dan removing that truck bed is surprisingly not the sketchiest thing I've seen in my own personal and work life.
I’m so glad this is “not” a build looking sweet man I got a 1990 5 speed love it
Love this look with stock bumpers
When snapped that bolt his expression was the same as mine when I was doing a water pump replacement on my 01 tundra and realized whoever did it before had over torqued the bolt so when I came to undo it she snapped off in my block. Dan, your Vans collection is more than enough to make me jealous
Dan, i have a 97 2500 obs. i had the same issue. Have fun with those hangers lol
7:40 know that feeling all to well XD
my bed trick is cross some ratchet straps to the tie down points and I have put a pallet under the straps and used a fork lift to remove the bed or you could maybe use an engine lift that way too
Thank you for doing that truck justice, looks just right
I’m not usually a lowered truck guy but that looks Fukin’ sick,
lol dan I think you definitely SENT IT with that truck bed. while having a car on the lift!!
Nice drop. Looks sick. Cant wait to do the 2/3 drop from bell tech on my Denali 🚌 💨
You can hit the spindle around where the ball joint or tie-rod goes in and it will pop it out. That will keep you from mushrooming the threads or tearing the boot with a pickle fork.
this helps because im about to do ball joints on my close to identical truck
I really like this dudes attitude 👌🏽💯

Ty, I'll check it

Love the truck! I gotta 94’ single cab stepside
Dude, literally every video is a 10. Love the content.
7:52 that face could be a meme XD love it

Dan- I can't find a hammer or pry bar. Oh look some steel, That will do.
Wholy crap is that do it with Dan 😩😩😱😂 good video brotha
That strap job goes under, big smooth brain. I don't know if it's safe or stupid until the truck falls while it's up like that.
That was big brain. It was brother, my 84 year old grand father and I to lift the bed off our ranger to fix a fuel pump.
As far as your lights go and the short! Check your headlight/turn signal switch. I had the same problem
Really nice truck bro👍🏽 I got one my self that am building on my channel... but not near as clean as yours. 👌
Best looking OBS on UA-cam, dont @ me
Might need to re torque all the suspension bolts couple days after you lowered the truck due to the suspension will settle a little bit looks awesome I have the belltech drop kit with lowering keys for my 06 YukonXl just need the front lowering spindles still though
That looks sick! Love these trucks lowered. When’s it getting wrapped?
The truck looks sick man!
That truck is so lovely to my eyes😍
15:00 ZORBII INTRO SONG in the background iykyk
Hell yeah “ima keep it stock”
Looks awesome !! Lowered
So I have a 98 c1500 ! When I bought it the tail lights didn’t work at all. My buddy ordered me new tail lights from Amazon with bulbs and that fixed my issue...
the truck looks great 🤩 keep the amazing content up, love u dan! ❤️
Inpact goes: UGA DUGA
bolt: snaps
“Honey i swear it’s not another build it just needs these parts”
Bro I NEEDED it
Dude that shit looks great! Awesome job!
Been waiting on this! did a 5/6 drop on my 98 c1500 last summer so know the struggle you went through
Dan your tail lights probably need a resistor if they are LED. this is common in LED upgrades, check vette lights out to see if he can help with the set up.
Reminds me of when i did hubs on my 88 k1500 in middle of January... non heated garage and low teens outside oof.
Just a tip I would hit the housing of the tie rod on the spindle when trying to knock it out
I’m sure you have way more experience than me but I’m only 16 and that’s what I’ve always been taught
dude Dan, hearing protection when hammering bro, that shit takes its toll...
Your brakes are gonna hate u more after that lol that was hilarious, get ready to replace those old lines.
Goes and buys pickle fork. Continues to use tiny wood hammer haha Dan you kill me brother
I don't think I have ever hit a notification faster
SAMEEEE!!!
I think you have drop shackles in the rear with the old lowering kit. Grab oem leaf shackles and it should make the height normal
Dan: Its not a build
Gavin: Imma keep it stock
Both of them: mods the crap out of their car/truck
dan can finally reach the truck bed :3
Be safe on your trip!
Turned out badass man 👍
You should get a nice black Louis Vuitton tonneau cover 😎
"unless I'm welding I never wear gloves... except for wheel bearings" 5 minutes later, packing bearings with no gloves on :-)
For future spindle removal, next time just loosen up the castle nuts on the ball joints and pound on the lower control arm until it pops loose. Also bump stops Dan.
All your missing are 26 inch intros cuz puro takuachiando cuh
Good luck with the tail lights bro I’ve been tryn to fix mine for the past year😂
That truck looks great man
I got nervous when he started cutting I thought for a second. "here we go again" trucks about to look like swiss cheese.
Dannn I recommend buying an Air Hammer with pickle fork attachments, Look it up youll know exactly what im saying, love you
Love it. What upper control arms did you use Dan.
Looks damn good Dan!!
Love you Dan ! ❤️
Dan what wheel and tire specs are you running? looks super nice I like that fitment and am planning on doing the same kit to my truck
Beautiful truck dude !!!!!
not a build more like "send me shit for free and im obligated put it on"
This build is coming along
This is making me want a short box Chevy pretty bad lol
Lemme tell ya bud. My first truck was a minty old obs. Just hack the exhaust off at the beds on the manifolds and send 2 ten foot pipes on her straight back
