Nice work. I have owned 3 1990 454 SS trucks. First one was new and was stolen a few months after I purchased it. Dallas auto pound called me 3 days later and found the vehicle on fire in Oak Cliff, Tx. Engine, transmission, seats, and wheels were taken and then torched to cover prints. Truck number two was purchased in 1994 and I drove it to work occasionally and gave it to my daughter as a graduation gift. Truck number three I kept. It was purchased in Plano, Texas 1997 with 40K miles. However, it is a stepside and on further investigation the original purchaser ordered the vehicle with a stepside rear. I thought it looked cool so I had to have it. My driveway in Plano was full with a Porsche 928 (1985), a 2001 Hardtop Vette, A 502 Boss Hoss that I built over 10 months, a 2000 Trans Am, and other cars. I downsized in 2010. I didn't need the big house and all the cars and bikes. But, I saw potential in the 454SS. They were underpowered with smog pump, low compression heads, silly TBI for fuel delivery and a 3 speed THM400 (actually in 1990 the transmission was called a THM375 with one less clutchpack and shorter tailshaft and in 1991 the Gen Five big block and 4L80E was introduced with 0.75 in final 4th gear). The 1991-1993 454SS trucks were really the better trucks. People would tell me they were dogs and The Ford Lightning was yada yada. The Lightning had a Charger on the engine so yes it was a bit faster but the freakin thing was a Ford and folks I have built a lot of rides but Ford isn't my favorite for anything. The people that talked poorly of the 454SS have a right to their opinion but are not really thinking of the potential. GM had their hands tied by insurance and EPA guidelines so the engines were not up to the 450 pound bench press. I parked the 454SS for 10 years in my garage and occasionally fired it up. I installed a custom built 4L80e and Compushift shifter and enjoyed driving around my little town. But those days are over. I'm going with new upper end. New aluminum heads, hydraulic-roller lifter cam and roller lifters. Holley Brawler 850 or maybe a Barry Grant 1000 CFM (I have a lot of Chevy parts in storage), an HEI distributor, a heavier drive shaft, and a paddle shift. The stock HP was around 230. I'm shooting for at least 350 HP with more torque. Yes I know 350 HP isn't much these days but I may drop a Bow Tie Chevy 632 CID in the near future and keep the old truck because it is so much fun to work in my shop and romp on the throttles of my engines on start carts to piss off the neighbors. I'm almost 70 and having fun building machinery. Ya'll know that combustion powered automobile machinery will be gone in 50 years. And people will build motor sports around that too.
Fantastic work, fellas. I'm one of those "keep it stock" sort of people, but these upgrades were subtle and tasteful. It still looks like a 454, just better!
That is one sweet looking truck and I always thought those 454 SS looked lame and generic when they first came out and GM designers only wish they could have made it look like this. It just flows and looks so bad ass, yet doesn't go overboard with a bunch of body mods it doesn't need and looks sinister. Great job!
1990 was the first year for those limited edition Chevy 454SSs & were produced up through 1993. They only came in three colors, black, red, & white. I bet they're gonna be super rare nowadays with the prices of gas going up.
I used to have an 88 Iroc Z convertible. The car was red with grey interior. It looked like an exotic car from the factory. In fact it was probably faster than most exotics at the time considering it was packing a 350 TPI Corvette motor. If I had to do the car over I would go back original as possible with the exception of a motor upgrade and convertible hard top.
Love the interior! Great looking truck overall. Perhaps a few things not to my taste on the exterior (cowl hood, smoked lenses), but love the work you guys do! Glad I found this channel on UA-cam.
Nice, but I think the stock 454SS wheel is one of the best looking stock wheels ever made and would either try to get a larger version of it made or just stick with the stock size wheel and tire, but it is unfortunately not my truck. Damn nice job with the rest of it though.
This truck is unbelievable. Nostalgia coupled with modern refinement. In love, incredible taste I might add.
My dream truck 🔥😍

I was feeling the same about the rims. The whole truck is amazing but I'm not to crazy about those wheels.
I have a buddy that makes that wheel in 17"18' 19" 20" 22" 24" and for rear wide rim ..as wide that you need to put custom tubs on rears
Que chingoneria de troca un resultado fantastico
