Don't forget the "Quad headlight mod" so the low beams stay on with the high beams. Seeing your OBS is bringing back some memories. Damn I miss my 91 c1500
I just bought a 1998 GMC sierra K1500 to restore the family farm after the fires and then build to off road. They are almost the same truck. Very excited to see you build this.
Bought a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT with the rare 16 inch Alloy rims. Clean truck.little surface rust... rear fenders rotted but I can fix them. Dodge flaw. No plastic in rear fender wells. So, original owner (good friend) drove it everyday. In snow. Me being a Northerner lol, we get bad winters up here. The snow and salt and sand kicking up from the rear tires in the fender wells caused em to rust. Other than that and a little surface rust, the trucks CLEAN. Interior and out. Engine runs fantastic for being a 200k MILE TRUCK. Has 203k on it. Runs great still lights the tires. 5.7 hemi magnum in it. Makes 400hp with the little mods he did. K&N cold air intake, Gibson Exhaust (may change to flowmaster) and a couple more things I have to ask him about. Truck sounds fantastic, good power. Silver color. Sharp truck. I’m gonna undercoat it myself, deal with that fender rust, keep it going. Engine still has a lot of life in it for being 200k. He took good care of it which I am happy about. I will put good fluids in it, and change parts over time. I may engine swap the truck mid this decade and put the 5 speed auto in it. Think it has the 4 speed. The 5 speed automatic transmission was a option with the hemi. Fantastic truck. It was his baby now it’s mine.
These obs trucks just have that special feel to them that nothing else gives. I drive a 89 obs gmc k 3500 dully with a 454 big block and a 4 speed manual with 4:10s in the rear. They may not all be as clean as youres but they are definitely all bad ass!

I cannot express my love for the single cab truck. congrats dan man
I love the simplicity of this video and excited abt this simple build
I have a 95 single cab step side just like that but white and 5 speed. Bought it in 98. Best vehicle I've ever owned Dan
My first truck was a 97 Chevy, still have it and love it. Mine is super clean and the one time I found rust I immediately took it to the body shop it’s a shame seeing so many OBS trucks rust away. I think you are right about there value increasing I’ve had atleast 10 guys stop me at gas stations asking if I’d sell it.
I had a 92 Chevy 1500 Sport. 350, t56, and a 454 rear diff. Such a fun truck, had to sell it to move to Georgia
Can’t wait to see what you do with it, I’ve always loved those obs step sides! It’ll look sharp with your touch! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Hope you feel better man! I actually had that feeling of tired and no taste about 2 weeks ago and now I've come down with 2 doctor visits and 2 different medication fills to help me with happened to be a major respiratory infection. Get sleep and take care of yourself man!
Makes me miss my 97 gmc sierra z71. Was also my truck in high school, so I can see what you mean. Stoked to see what you end up doing with it!!!
Got one for a daily driver, great trucks, they aged so well and they are super reliable and practical
I have the same body style truck and I’m just happy to see a big UA-camr buying one
Heck yeah so freaking happy to see more obs chevy on youtube, I got a 1995 chevy c1500 fleetside
Man I'm the same, I so miss being a kid in the 90s just helping Dad in the van, maybe that's why I liked older cars and shit too. Who knows.
I god damn love that truck! So stoked, yes, altho I only think I know was stoked feels like.
dan, i have a 97. one of the smallest but most modern feeling upgrades you can do for this truck is pull the door chime buzzer and replace it with one out of a 90s model camaro.
Me and my dad have been working on a 95 k2500 and taking it offloading and camping. Its an awesome truck, excited to see what you do with yours
My grandpa had a 94 obs and it was awesome, this video was a totally vib and brought me back, what I would do to own my grandpas obs...but he sold it years ago 🥺😢
You are 100% correct about these trucks going up in value... currently looking for one myself. And ACL surgery does suck... ask me how I know. Feel better man!
been watching Dan since the orange camaro and the beamer watching his channel blow up has been amazing
Welcome to the obs gang. I got a 98 k2500 I wasn't gonna do anything to and now it's got everything body wise new 🤣 and I'm bout to pick up a straight axled single cab that I have to put Back together.. these trucks never stay stocked. It's an obsession.
