    Lucky guy you got a lift! Thats gonna be my next purchase. I just gotta throw out some recognition for the fact that pitting and scaling on a bolt definetely means shot to hell. And I've snapped plenty of high strength bolts trying to "crack loose" those that don't want to come out with a mear penetrant soak, time and breaker bar. The trick is the torch! Works like a charm if you like saving time and really don't have the room to tap out your mistake. Heat expands which I would think makes it tighter but for some reason, works like a charm every time. Acetaline is a bit hairy if you work around gas lines and/or have half a brain(disclosure) but you guys get 2 thumbs up for at least the first 5-1/2 min..I'll subscribe and revisit this later.

    I do remember when those C-1500 SportSide first came in 1988 if I am not wrong I think they even came just before 1988 on the end of 1987... those GMT400 bodies up to this day is very dear to me cos it was my generation pickup trucks together with the 1992-1996 Ford F trucks as well , I never understood how come the 454SS didn’t come SportSide bed even though I’ve seen a few with SportSide bed tube ... I’ve seen one dude claim his 454SS with StepSide was factory ordered.... however the C-1500 SportSides and the F-150 FlareSides are the hottest trucks from the 90’s era , the 90’s really had good taste in the truck designs then even Dodge came in and launched that bad arse Dodge Ram with the big nose and took over the sales ... yes 90’s trucks are very cool trucks

    What size tires are you running. Front and rear. Also what offset. Im wanting to run weld racing pro stars on my 97 c1500.I just cant figure out the offset. Also how wide is your rear tires and front tires. Do you think a 12 inch wide will fit in the rear. Or should I stick with a 10 inch wide. Im wanting to run an 8 inch wide up front.

  • @steveobrien8792
    @steveobrien8792 6 років тому

    I like the work you did the truck has a very nice stance now. I just can't help but feel like you left a lot on the table though. I would have replaced all the shocks. I would have probably replaced the U-bolts and after cutting those brackets off the frame I would have prolly wire wheeled the crap out of the frame and hit it with a couple cans of rustoleum.

    • @SniderTron3000
      @SniderTron3000  6 років тому

      The shocks will be in another video. That's thing about UA-cam, if you can get away with it, it's smart to break it into as many videos as you can.
      But, yeah, I definitely half assed some things. But, I don't feel bad about it that much because I don't think anybody else would've bought this truck as it was, so it would've just sat until it got scrapped. So, to me, that fact that its getting any love at all is a win.

    the only thing I don't get is if you are just gonna do a small drop why would you not do a drop spindle. keep geometry travel spring rate and then do a 2" drop spring with a 2" drop control arm. get 5 to 6 with perfect suspension. And sorry but that axle is gonna hop. flip kit would put the rotation on the right way so wouldn't be as bad. And a shackle kit is not ment to lower a truck. It puts wheels in the wrong place.

    I want to lower my truck but I am really not interested in C notching my frame so I am considering 4 inch drop leaf springs with 2 inch drop shackles, I know that the flip kit is cheaper than the Springs but do you think that it would still have a pretty good ride quality with the drop Leafs?

    • @SniderTron3000
      @SniderTron3000  6 років тому +1

      That would still be too low to not notch it. If you did just the drop leafs, you should be good. That would put you at about the same drop I'm at. But, I strongly suggest just doing the notch. It's really not that hard and it's way better in the end

      I like that nose dive look the rear tires makes it look like that once he gets even tires it will be very near level

    Measure from the bottom lip of the wheels,,that way, no matter what possible difference in tire pressure ,, the measurements will always be the same.. but it looks way better..

    Snider- know of anybody out there that makes a drop shackle for the Ford Transit? In order to 'level' the van most aftermarket have front lift kits. Rather than lift I'd rather drop the rear 2" and all is well.

    That was way more work then needed to be done. Could have left the springs in and got it done. I like the look before more had a nice old school look. Not to much into the lowering thing, still a bad ass truck tho!

    • @SniderTron3000
      @SniderTron3000  6 років тому

      The bolts were seized into the leaf springs eyes. The only way I could've left them in there and lowered it would be to do a flip kit.
