- I've put this up because there's lots of videos of people installing it and giving first impressions... and the first impressions are very good. But, for me at least, they didn't last.
I'd like to think that 3Drap might consider a V4 of their guide/clamp because the premise is sound. But the longevity issue of it wearing down pales in comparison to it simply snapping with 20-30 hours play.
UPDATE: 1 week after posting this, 3Drap reached out to me and addressed both of the issues I highlighted in this video: The top plate needed to be more robust and the clamp needed to be softer. I hope to provide a link in the video itself to my follow-up review but am having little success. So in the interim, here's the link:

Update: 3Drap got back to me. There may have been a language barrier but despite my lengthy complaint, all I got was 'We will send you replacement parts'. There was no response to my suggestion of filament change or anything to do with the fault itself. In fact, there wasn't even an apology. I'm rapidly become unconvinced with the idea that 3Drap are the premium solution.
hi, unfortunately you have mounted the mod upside down (not respecting the direction of the arrow). This compromised the functionality of the mod. In any case we have launched a new version of the mod reinforced and made with the most innovative 3d printing technology in the world: SLS (selective laser sintering) and soon we will send you a sample hoping that you will talk about it in your yt channel. thank you.
For anybody who lands here, here's the final word: I initially installed it correctly but after the snap, switched it so I had better clamping force across the forward range. I didn't mentioned that in the video. But...
3Drap sent me their latest version (V3.4) as a replacement and I'm happy to say, they have addressed both issues I faced here with a metal top plate and nylon-based clamp. At their request, I put a video together to highlight the improvements:

I had this same issue, contacted 3DRap and they promised to send me a couple replacements of different varieties. Tired of waiting I opted for a solution from Custom Sim Shop with a replacement ball bearing spring and simply removed the broken slider only. I still use the gate with stainless, without the slider and it's amazing. In my opinion it's way better than anything 3DRap can come up with alone.
I've been looking for that nismo shift knob, it looks amazing! If you could drop a link to where I could get one that would be great. Also how did you mount it to the shifter?

You then need a cheap adaptor:

To take the existing one off, pry off the plastic top piece and there's a screw underneath. I seem to recall you use that screw to attach the adaptor and the knob just screws on.

Thats it man! Great explained. After they Send me 2 New pieces, i put one back. now the New piece struggeling when i Wanne slide from left side to the right side.....
The shifter doesent come back to the middel when i put it in neutral N
I have ordered this Metall plate.... So sharp edges. My shifter had now so many scratches. Bad quality.
Its very sad, i spent such of money for nothing 🥲
Cheers for commenting bud. I noticed there was a lot of excess filament in lots of the screw holes. My guess is that your left-to-right problem is because you've got excess filament in one of the holes that the red runners go through. Cheers for mentioning it because when I get my replacement parts, I'm going to file down those holes when I file down the inside clamping surface.
I also plan to glue some small pieces of metal wire on the underside of those partitions to give them some more strength.
But dude, we really shouldn't need to be doing any of this. 3Drap should sort their product out rather than riding high on all the positive 'initial experience' reviews they've had...

For less tension I just eased up the tightness of the long screw to bolts
I had exactly the same issue: 1st and 2nd notch broke almost imediatelly. I guess 3drap should remove those sharp “edges” on the notches of the plastic plate and make them more roundish. Fortunatelly i did buy the metal plate too. I also had 2 broken “sliding parts”. 3drap communicated with me and kindly sent me new parts - telling me it was due to a manufacturing error. I did get the 3.3 v and not the 3.4 but it s ok with it :) I really hope 3.4 is a better product!✌️

(N.B. I have no vested interest in promoting 3Drap or my own channel, but after they fixed this in such short order I figured credit was due).
2023 and im still waiting for someone to actually CNC an aluminium version. 3d printing is just not good enough for this application....
Aluminium simply wouldn't work. The clamp component has to be able to flex, frequently and to a large extent (1-2mm at a guess). I don't profess to be a metallurgist but I can't see how that might work.
But I agree that 3D printed materials are probably not robust enough for this application. Solid nylon or even rubber would work much better in my opinion. The liklihood of 3Drap making such a part is unlikely as their name suggests they're a 3D printing company. Likewise, I consider it unlikely that a production company capable of making the part would do so, as it would be a '4th party' component and not economically viable...
@@Sifu_Steve You don't need the flexible part, if you do, a thin slice of metal leaf spring would work better than 3d prints.
I'd prefer magnets instead.
below the mechanism its possible to replace the springs so the shifter doesn't bounce back and forth.

I have PS4 and g923 i want to connect 2 shifters (Logitech)on the wheel.One for shifter and the other for handbrake.Can I fix these on the wheel or on PS4??? Thanks a lot!!!
Not easily. There is only a single port for the shifter and therefore, it can only recognise 1 shifter at a time.
I play with a wired pad connected which helps when I'm switching between menus/map etc. It allows you to use both wheel and pad together. My plan was to plug a USB handbrake in but it turns out that once you start a race, it 'commits' you to only use one controller input and the pad gets disconnected.
There are ways of doing it but it involves soldering the handbrake wires to one of the buttons on the wheel... and that is way beyond me atm. You can look that up elsewhere on UA-cam if you're interested.
Exactly the same thing happened to me. The whole top plate cracked in addition to other issues.
Mines annoying me, the space between each gears is so small, quick shifting can easily screw you over if youre not careful, also idk if anyone else has this problem but I can be in either 2nd or 3rd and it'll think its in neutral until I shake it a tiny bit, also the things that lock in place don't lock in place anymore, I think I just got a shitty one lol
Mine broke exactly the same way. Same exact place on the middle piece and same gates. I didn't reach yet tho
The internals made shifting way too hard. Completely unrealistic. I removed them and only use the gate now, which I actually needed to modify as well. Wasn't going into 2nd properly and had to grind away some material. The gate definitely improves shifting accuracy for me now. Poor quality overall though and not worth what I paid. 3d rap also never gave me a tracking number and were a bit rude when I politely asked for it.
Same shits happening to me, going from 1st to second isn't a straight shot and sometimes it thinks its in neutral, i feel if youre really delicate and gentle with it it'll work better, but who tf wants to drive around a racing game like a grandma 24/7 lmfao
