I’m not gonna lie, seeing Cure Idol being on her high horse as a Cure in her second fight is rather entertaining. It’s only been the second episode so far and I will remain cautious but that’s yet another hilarious episode. Nice review Adam.
In this episode, the comedy segments were indeed the highlight. It's barely been one episode since Uta became a PreCure and not only does she have to keep her identity a secret, but she has to navigate her own Idol Club without spilling the beans. The Royal here has actual personality as she punishes her own fairies for breaking the rules about uploading without permission. (Then again, does that happen always?) Uta was definitely on Cloud Nine as everybody had literally turned her into the next "It" Girl. It's understandable for her to have a little ego stroking, but her last line in the episode made her realize (even during the battle) that she wasn't just some Idol... Uta was chosen to save the world from bad guys and I like how the writers incorporated that. Now, she can move forward with that mindset. This is getting interesting! We'll see how they do with Nana in Episode 3.
Remember that Niko-sama was intimidating to Mey Mey when she hatched and saw three humans and three animals knowing about her and having the Kiraniko Trunk.
Uta may be gushing like crazy upon being noticed as her alter ego Cure Idol but she needs to not only keep her ego in check but also saving her fans her TOP PRIORITY…I like that she acknowledged that. (As well as acknowledging one’s privacy from Queen Pikarine - that’s both funny and relatable. Not everyone needs to know about her - that’s going stalker territory. Too far ^^;;) However, I have a gut feeling that this isn’t the last time she’s gonna fall onto that, even after u-know-who’s gonna join in (which not gonna lie - Nana’s fine…but man among the reveal of the trio, she felt the most generic. Hopefully she gets to show more personality besides being in a daze - plausibly like Chiyu’s but we’ll see…). But the last line Idol said was the thing I desperately wanted: “I’m a savior that brings light to the darkness”. Thank you. THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT. That’s what makes Precure PRECURE - a magical girl who has a heart amidst her fists…something that last year’s season didn’t even bother saying it cause i guess it’s “too brutal” by their standards. Keep up the good trajectory You and Idol >:3
Okay, this is going pretty well so far. Uta is flawed yet likeable, definitely good protagonist material. Unlike last season, I think it'll take me a while before I can rank this, but I'm looking forward to the watching through it.
I’ll be honest Uta feels like a character that should be her own protagonist like old shoujos! And that’s saying a lot cuz the fact she can hold herself this well compared to most recent leads it’s a big statement and it’s only been 2 episodes. Like I would not mind her being the solo protagonist at all! This season really bringing my hope that Precure will get back on their feet!
So far, this series is getting off on the right foot. I liked the whole scene with the Queen, not just for the lore dumps, but also the fact that she didn't make saving her fairy world the top priority---she emphasized that Uta should primarily focus on protecting Earth instead, which instantly stood out to me. That, and her pointing out how wrong it is to film someone without their permission. It's like this season is going "back to basics", but still keeping the new age of social media in mind.
My god, punching your enemy actually make the person who become monster getting better? Can you believe that? Precure punching the enemy to save people? Thank god Precure has returned. Okay, dissing WPC aside. This episode pacing and structure is much better than episode 1. I wonder what happened? There are so many elements that I quite sure wouldn't be in morning tv show, like the cynical joke, the on your face yuri fan service, our fairy here records and uploads our MC sleeping at night, get reprimanded for copyright infringement, and overall pretty savy about internet. In most precure show, the fantasy (or sci fi for STP) characters are usually inept about internet. This time, they are so well versed about internet they can weaponize it for their purpose. And yeah, I predicted the show will be idol first, precure second, and while this episode have strong focus on precure stuffs in the end, the beginning is so Love Live I forget the main writer is Aikatsu's writer. Main character who want to become Idol to save something? Check. A junior who loves idol and is fan of one of the idol? Check. Another idol who is good at playing piano? Check check check check! I originally thought, "Are they going to save school?" then I realize, no, they are going to save the world. It is still Love Live formula! So because it is Love Live formula, then I think there is going to be a tournament where they have to compete against the bad guy in order to save the world. Though obviously unlike Love Live, our MC's friend won't become precure. Unless...? On the yuri, I love Uta and Mikoto shipping this episode. Though it is comically looks like Superman and Louise Lane relationship, if Louise Lane the one wearing glasses. I hope this relationship continue, and each Idol have their own (girl) fans. If KimiPure can keep its yuri fan service, I am going to declare Sunday as Sungay for we have both Mirai Days and KimiPure! And 2025 become the YuriPuri Year! Though realistically speaking, this is just a one off that won't impact the show in serious way. We probably won't see Mikoto for a few episodes, unlike Yui from GoPri. Okay, I think that's all I want to say here. As precure veteran, I can see where the Precure influence and reference comes from. But the show also show a lot of Idol anime influence, so if you are fans of both Precure and Idol anime, it will double your enjoyment of this episode. See you next time.

Now I do like how we got some explanation about the world, our heroes goals, the villains, this early in the episode. And the introduction of the queen is pretty hilarious. I like her. I also like that there is some legend that forbids them to record the Idols without permission. And for the school stuff, this show wastes no time at all introducing most of the casts we are going to meet, like Uta's friend Mikoto, there is Nana who is going to be important later on, and there is that kouhai who has established a club for Cure Idol. And speaking of the cure, she already became the talking point in school. And Uta's soaking all that ego is funny to see. Then, we have ourselves a nice villains meet up (Seriously, I miss scenes like this that gives personality to the villains). And then fight scenes, which is admittedly better than the previous episode. I guess maybe Cure Idol is starting to get the hang of this Precure stuff. Here is my personal favorite scene in this episode, when the fairy got gaslight from the villain general, I like how Cure Idol comfort him. Not with a long speech on "this is not your fault", but some nice cool off action, a hug, and a few words that said what needed to be said. Also here is something I notice during the fight, Idol's finishers are basically the equivalent of how Kamen Rider Black finish his monsters. First with a Rider Punch to help weaken it, then a Rider Kick to finish it. Same goes with Idol, first the Precure Punch attack to weaken the barrier, then the Idol Full Blast Finish attack to finish it. Then after the battle, I like how Cure Idol like and idol, give some nice warm thanks to the victim that got saved, and that final scene, where she acknowledges herself as not only a idol, but a savior, really brings up the hero in her. Overall, really great episode. I think the comedy really helps with this one, and the bunch of facial expressions. Looking forward to Cure Wink's debut next episode.

last time i was trying to watch precure weekly, delicious party was new (and aside from a few characters, that one kinda disappointed me enough that i dropped it out of boredom). I'm enjoying this season so far :3c def feels like there's more personality than delicious party
@@almxnd_sakura I'm afraid it'll be super good but disappoint in sales so Toei won't do anything like it for a long time, kinda like GoPri Anything will have a hard time measuring up to Wonderful's sales at the very least. Cute animals sell super well regardless of the quality of the show.
I mean this so far feels something more akin Precure seasons where the villains are evil just for the sake of it. I doubt there's any sympathetic reason for doing what they are doing.
Eh. Cutty was vibing to Unison of Smiles. I think it's a given that they are more like the villains in the Fresh-Smile era: Possesed by evil after they had one bad day, but otherwise just really chill people.
Purirun is pretty midly annoying between these two episodes. Like, I like cute and spoiled fairies but the recording part is a big no-no and I'm glad Pikarine stepped up. Other than that, humble Uta to Fame-in-head Uta to "With great power comes great responsibility" Uta is a great evolution.... Aghhh I don't want to diss Wonderful Pretty Cure, BUT Komugi could've used a NIKO EVOLUTION like that.
Personally, I think its a bit weird for the queen to be talking to uta as she is sealed (unless the sub im watching is wrong or unless its something else) also for being an idol its kinda surprising that we cannot have any videos like i get the identity part but no videos?
I have a hunch it'll be a running gag that the fairy will forget the rule every time a new member of the team gets a new song to sing & posts each new song only to get frizzy hair as a punishment

Also how come her identity wasn't exposed when they showed Purirun uploaded her sleeping. Like the fairy clearly uploaded her full debut which probably includes the transformation but thay toy camera has a 30 second recording limit and Purirun decided it was better to just have the intro part.
