  • I am working on a video or series of videos on FAA Airman Knowledge Exam Questions relating to VOR. It's an old technology, and it may disappear someday, but for now it's something you need to know for your written exam, and I had to know it for my checkride. I hope to have the entire video finished in the next 1-2 weeks. In the meantime, I hope you find this helpful. Please leave any questions you have in the comments, including any suggestions for exam topics you are having trouble with.

Hey there…just wanted to say thanks for your video. Was having trouble with VOR but you got me straightened out. Got a 95 on my exam yesterday so you do make a difference! Best wishes.

Amazing video! I have a question tho... In example #1, with the "from" indication, how did you determine that you were in the upper quadrant and not the lower one? I'm not understanding that part for some reason 5:25

Fantastic explanation Ivan. How long do you think before VOR will be deemed too expensive to keep up by the FAA?

Thanks! My understanding is that VORs will be around for a long time on some level, but that many are scheduled for decommission. I believe the term is VOR Minimal Operational Network (MON) and it will be more for backup, but don’t quote me on this.
