Matthias, you are the type of person who makes UA-cam such a glorious place on the internet... Please never stop sharing your superior knowledge with us... We all love your brain so much.
Matthias, this is simply briliant! It is such a joy & privilege to see a woodworker making & designing his/her own tools rather than hocking high priced equipment they were given as a promo! You are on the path to be a true pioneer in our beloved craft!
Matthias u are inspirational. God has given you a wonderful talent. I am so glad u share it with us that have a problem with keeping all thing square plumb and level. I love your videos. Keep them coming.
These routers are available from pretty much every manufacturer in north America, but hard to find outside of north America. though DeWalt has one that is that format, available in Europe.
Sir, I have been following you since before you had a UA-cam channel. It was your website journaling the development of your portative pipe organ. Your videos and design work continue to impress. Keep of the fantastic work!!
This guy is amazing! As we can see, there are a lot of talented people on the net, but this guy...Wow! I would love to know his background, I'm assuming, at a minimum, a lot of engineering. You know you're a rookie at woodworking when this guys jigs look to intimidating to build. Keep em coming, you're imagination and attention to detail are outstanding.
dear mathias wandel, this is my first time that i am commenting ever for anyone. i really very like it. u r really a genius and thank you very much for giving me so nice ideas. God bless you.
This is a great and accurate work from a genius Matthias ... we understand how you have been thinking about building the best tools for woodworkers coming on the youtube channel . We are there to encourage you and hope the greatest success for you . Thanks sharing your awesome ideas with us !
Mr Wandel in all my years in mechanical engineering I must give credit to your great development on such a great device I love doing wood work because of the challenge it offers , but most of all the satisfaction that comes with it , with your device it does makes one's work more enjoyable , thank you for your input and your professionalism great workmanship with all your products I love it and appreciate it . I am 68 years of age and still learning by your generous input to this wonderful Hobby we all tend to share .........my regards to you Sir
Matthias.... Tus ideas son un harte de trabajar la madera, junto con otros componentes mi enhorabuena por tu video y todos los demas ... saludos desde España...
Wow look at those knobs he made for the stops. So nice and comfortable looking, and made of wood. WOW!!! This guy really introduces a whole new generation of the power of wood. All those brackets he makes, all out of wood. They are all so clean and solid looking. Wood is way cheaper than aluminum, and easier to work. The part just has to be slight bigger, but that is okay for most applications.
If you have the option to move the stock or the router, always move the router. That way, you can have arbitrarily large workpieces, supported by sawhorses, if need be.
Wow I realize this was 6 tears ago and maybe you've grown as a person but damn that was a backhanded racist remark and seriously WTF? I tried to resist the urge to comment but I just couldn't. I hope you realize how messed up that was but in my experience people that say stuff like that never do. People are people no matter where they're from. I'm a proud American but I've seen and heard the dumbest things here and yes I've been to a bunch of foreign countries.
Gotta give kudos to you Canadian, "build your own tools", guys. You and John Heisz are really kickin' ass. I've taken techniques from both of you and applied it to different builds. First time I've bothered to comment about it, so there you go.
I see you used a jig to ensure that the pilot holes were vertical. Did you take any special steps to ensure the 20mm holes were vertical too? I would think this is more important to ensure the dogs fit and sit vertical. I'm looking for tips to avoid buying the parf guide system. Thanks
It's fun watching this guy recapitulate the industrial revolution in wood, but I can't help but wonder what he could accomplish with a cutting torch and a welder!
Bosch GKF router is around £160. Which I think is very resonable. Dewalt have a very similar router also. Last I checked it was £209. With an additional base. Not a fan of dewalt since they sold up. The bosch is great. Intelligent base design . Making very accurate minor adjustments easy
I too enjoy watching your videos and want to go out and build one the same. Your creations are mind blowing and you are brilliant. I guess some people are blessed with a creative mind. You would have been asked this question before so forgive me for asking again, do you have plans available for purchase of your works of art?
Hi Matthias, what brilliant combination of new-video with this old-machine you've made. Excellent! What I was wondering is what kind of router are you using for this? I live in the Netherlands and I can't find any router like this one you're using. All the routers I see here do have an oval shape with knobs on the sides so you can handle it more easily (which I find very unuseful since I want to use it in the purpose of a mortising machine like this of yours).
Matthias how do you insure repeat ability I.e. constant side to side starting point and square . I have noticed this issue with the pantarouter design also. Your videos are small highlights of my week
That router (motor) seems really powerful. That, good/sharp router bit on soft wood does the job easily. If you're used to a cheap - or just not a powerfull one - hand held router, I can see why you'd ask :)
excelente estoy pensando hacer uno igual para mi taller ya tengo muchos diseños de usted y me sirven mucho siga con sus ideas, sin mas gracias por sus vídeos Matthias
As always, this is an awesome piece of engineering. BTW, both of the style of slides that you showed in the beginning are telescopic. The difference is the ones you like are "single extension", while the ones you feel have too much play are "full extension". Just thought I'd clarify if others want to track down a pair for their projects. Matthias, as always your videos are educational and entertaining. Scott
Really cool machine. I will build one if I can find an appropriate router here in Australia. Has anyone attempted to use a proper slot mortising bit in one of these routers? I know they typically have a 16mm shank but they can be had with a 13mm shank and I wondered if that would fit in a 12.7mm collett. I suspect not but I thought I'd ask as I need to cut some really deep mortises.
Looks to me that the optimal use for the slot mortising machine is loose tenon joints (if one wishes for perfect fits of round tenons) By the way, would you consider harder to build the pantorouter or are they comparable in complexity?
+theskeletonboi Guys if you wants to learn beginner to advance level woodworking my recommendation is BestWoodworking76.blogspot.com the best website to learn woodworking..................////
Even your early machines look great) However, I wonder if i could use this type of drawer slides for vertical adjustment on a similar project? Will they provide me with proper precision?
sorry for my English not so understandable, I'm Mexican I'm a fan of all your work. this project is better than the other because in this template you need no ... so get to work
Sir, I am interested in your video on youtube about making tools for carpenters. Can you show me the complete picture and the order in which it was made or where can I get it ... ???
hello, like your videos. i am having problem for joining end to end of 2x2 (actually 4x4cm) in length, please advice me easiest way to join them. i do not have lot of pro tool, so please tell me simplest and strong connection method. thanks

Nice videos to watch. No ads, no crazy editing, no distracting music.
I don't have the patience for wood working but these videos are raw entertainment. This is so cool!
Matthias could build a space shuttle with 2 X 4s and wood screws!
I build the machine sturdy and accurate. And it has stops on the sides for setting the range of motion.
The pantorouter is actually a bit less work, though harder to get it just right.
You are really clever, Mathias. I don't know the first thing about wood working, but I enjoy your videos, and I trully admire your intelligence.
you are very inspiring, "Why buy when you can build it" Creativity is contagious!
I think you might be a genius Matthias. I love watching your videos. Very inspiring. This particular machine is just beautiful.
You've certainly become a lot more comfortable in front of the camera in the last four years! :-)
+PsyMongazoid The key is to start out making awful videos. After all that awfulness, you don't care so much anymore!
+Matthias Wandel That's the spirit!....?
Sir, I have been following you since before you had a UA-cam channel. It was your website journaling the development of your portative pipe organ. Your videos and design work continue to impress. Keep of the fantastic work!!
Matthias, you are a genius! I love your wooden machines!
I love your work and your videos. You are a God among woodworkers. Pure genius.

Matthias, your intelligence and creativity is beyond question, but I had to have a chuckle at 4:59. The poor extractor hose doesn't stand a chance.

Excellent, Matthias. Very worthwhile covering your slot mortising machine a second time.
I hope these machines still serve you good Matthias. I like your new videos, but indeed I like the old ones as well. Thank you :)

Hey Mathias! You are a genius man, and I really enjoy your videos!
are you an engineer or something? all your homemade tools and other prodjects are insanely mind blowing.
Watching your videos makes me want to get up and run out to my shop. And it's 1:51AM.
Brilliant, you're just bloody brilliant!
Your machines are absolute works of art! What a fantastic mind you have!
Your ingenuity is amazing. Keep up the great work!
If you have the option to move the stock or the router, always move the router. That way, you can have arbitrarily large workpieces, supported by sawhorses, if need be.
Your ingenuity truly humbles me!
Your cleverness is pretty amazing. I never thought of Canadians being that smart.
Keep those videos coming--I love 'em.
Best regards

I noticed the shaving hitting you, did you have the dust hose on or were they just not getting sucked up? Thanks for sharing. Both are great machines.
That's a very elegant piece of kit. Well done and thank you for sharing it with us.
Just bought the plans and I’m super excited to build this!
Use a big router and mount it in a sturdy jig.
I think the beauty of Matthias' work, is that it doesn't need a bunch of fancy motors/etc.
Onde comprar esses motores?? Aqui no Brasil nunca vi pra vender... você faz um excelente trabalho, parabéns!
i love your video Matthias,. i love to create one for myself, a project that eventually like you create it, so beautiful
Wow. That is a thing of beauty. Your inventions are amazing.
Gotta give kudos to you Canadian, "build your own tools", guys. You and John Heisz are really kickin' ass. I've taken techniques from both of you and applied it to different builds. First time I've bothered to comment about it, so there you go.

Your videos are awesome - I love watching you create. Keep up the good work.
oops. Forgot. Just added the link now.
Again a project were we can learn of it, nice done Matthias!

Dear Wandel:
¿What kind of spindle do you use?
It's incredible how it works!
SUPER super nice neat and clean Master Matthias.
It's my 4th time viewing this video and each time it's impressive.

what a great build. wish I could make one. Now that you have the pantorouter, what would you sell the slot mortiser for ?
I don't think he's going to, he still uses it.
Thx for all the time u putting in these vids fr us to enjoy.... genius

brother, you do magic. hats off.
Bosch is very good. Very accurate and solidly built motors.
this man really loves a good joint :)

i can watch these all day
I always like watching your videos because your arguments are logical. :)
Are you using a router bit or an end mill in this video?
It's an impressively large bit either way.
You are a very skillful and smart man!
Excellent engineering like all your projects!
Im pretty sure youre a genius
Excellent ideas and builds, thank you for sharing.
Even your early machines look great) However, I wonder if i could use this type of drawer slides for vertical adjustment on a similar project? Will they provide me with proper precision?
+Aleksey Svishchov You could use them, but shielding them from dust will be difficult, and getting decent range is also a problem.
What kind of bit is that attached to your router? Almost looks like a drill...very innovative
sprial bit
Love to have one of those. Great machine you made.
Thanks Mathias,
Roland
When are you going to tell us more about your dust collector? I got a good look at it at 3:46.
excellent !, well thought out, and built, using readily available parts !
I'm thinking of getting the plans, but do you remember the approximate cost of the materials to build it?
genio, quisiera saber q tipo de broca usas?
sorry for my English not so understandable, I'm Mexican I'm a fan of all your work. this project is better than the other because in this template you need no ... so get to work
Matthias'm from Brazil and I really like your projects how do I get the design of this machine and the band saw
Wow. Very ingenious. You've really thought this tool out. Thanks for sharing.
This is way beyond my ability. Nicely done
Sir, I am interested in your video on youtube about making tools for carpenters.
Can you show me the complete picture and the order in which it was made or where can I get it ... ???
hello, like your videos.
i am having problem for joining end to end of 2x2 (actually 4x4cm) in length, please advice me easiest way to join them. i do not have lot of pro tool, so please tell me simplest and strong connection method.
thanks
hey mattias superb machine!! i want to make one like this!! i did the bandsaw machine and works great!!
Just made one works a treat thanks for the idea from England
good job matthias deutsche grundlichkeit !
What kind of motor do you use ?
Is that a modifieed one ?
Unless you are cutting 8x8 and 12 x12s why so much height?
Stu Bee Because sometimes I do cut mortises in boards. For some joints, it's not tall enough.
You are a inspiration sir.
