Depending on what part of the country you’ll see that many things have changed. Back in 2014, I was picking up a friend in a “good” upper middle class area. I got there around 6:45pm and her being a woman and taking forever to get ready, she had me waiting nearly half an hour in my car. I’m waiting patiently while I’m on my cellphone and my seat is slightly reclined. I look up and the police is shining a bright light in my window that nearly blinded me. He ran my DL and ask me if I knew anyone in the area and if I was on probation and a plethora of other insulting questions. When he saw that I was clean he asked me if I can wait down at the shopping center 2 miles down the road because a couple of neighbors called and they felt uncomfortable. The crazy thing about this is I am far from the image that I thought would ever be profiled. I’m clean cut, I dress conservatively and at the end of the day that meant nothing.
Chris Rock is a smart guy. He knows Black History and explains it pretty well.
Chris Rock is a professor
Regarding the recent end of slavery/Jim Crow. I always think about how my older brother is the first person in my family, that's been here since the 19th century, to be born with full US citizenship.
We got in trouble for staying up late and watching Porky's on cable. We had a fistfight because he made fun of me for crying after Clubber Lang lost the rematch at the end of Rocky 3. He's not even fifty years old yet. Black people have been here but we just got ALL the way here.
This is my new favorite podcast.
I agree 👍
Bianca made an extra effort for this one ;-)
You’ve gotta think of a better word than “mean”.
Just shows who are the devils
who is the beautiful lady?!
Neal and binky were upset when I emailed him about discussing American slavery/racism with a 1st gen the history needs context that someone with foreign parents could not fathom. Because of the western education that omits the truth.
Be specific when you say foreign please. African? Caribbean? Caribbeans can mos def fathom.
@@pottnosticator3907 if your parents have an accent foreign i donot have to be specific because that covers all and its how I see it period
@@tadah21 oh well if your happy to be stupid I won't stop you
@@pottnosticator3907 i refuse to beef with my black folks but a 1st gen discussing American slavery and more specifically jim crow is a discussion i will not have an argument about all of my carribean, africans etc associates know that it can get ugly . If name calling is your go to i suggest we both leave this alone.
@@tadah21 Stupid is what stupid does.
1965, not 75. The point remains, of course.
No it took 10 years post the bill to even enforce the laws in most places.
