The room on the third floor was a room for house maids. The main room would have been for the ladys maid and the othe for the butlers. The larger room would have housed the cooks and cleaning staff. Several beds to one room all sharing the one bathroom, and the smaller room was likely the uniform room where ironing was done. The wood basin in the one bathroom was a dry sink.
What a gorgeous house! Those light fixtures, omg!! Those diamond pane built ins! So much to love about this house! And then we learned there could be no HVAC. Wow, cement floors, who knew? I'm so glad you took us with you! Thank you, it was so beautiful! I think this is the first time I've ever seen an actual, working (?) murphey bed!!
I am like Kim. I have only seen one actual Murphy bed in real life, and like her, was shocked to see it. It was in a VERY old apartment building off-campus here in Columbia, MO, where a friend was living.
Wow what a cool old place! Love that cool shower and the Murphy beds were a complete surprise. I'd love to see someone restore this lovely old lady. Thanks for sharing! 💖💜💖
The style of the house is called an American Foursquare. The extra bathrooms with the step up are actually where someone knocked through the walk in closets in each of those bedrooms, installed the plumbing (reason for the floor level change) and added them.
YAYYYY!! You're back on your channel!! The mansion is beautiful in many ways. It felt like being back in the 1920s. But more beautiful is your smile & listening to your laughter in this video. I'd say married life is agreeing with you!!
That third floor was confusing. I would have thought there would be access from a main staircase too, even if it was servants quarters, especially if that one room was used as a ballroom or for entertainment. To reach it only from a back staircase was interesting…. And the bathroom setup- one bedroom with access to two bathrooms- quite different! Those Murphy beds- wow! Would they have been used daily or for extra guests I wonder? Fun to see inside these old places- thanks for showing us!
I actually love the look of kitchens ~1910-1920s, though this one is a bit chopped up, you can see how pretty it likely once was, and how nice yours will be!
The 3rd floor is most likely younger children rooms and a nanny/ cook! BTW that cabinate on the 3rd floor was a dry sink/ potting sink for potting plants. Domestic they wouldn't spend that much money on!! Marble on the 3rd floor baths. 2nd Floor is Master & Mistress ajoining bed rooms, Master with shower, Mistress with Bath Tub. Guessing the 3rd bed was a guest bedroom with ajoining sun/ sitting room, that could also convert to a guest bedroom, with the 2 full size Murphy Beds, This house seems more modern then your place 1890-1910 with both Arts & Craft and Mission Elements. The chandleers look about 1890's, most of the woodwork and fire places seem 1900-1910, Limestone fireplaces were common then with straight modern lines.
*Thanks for the grand tour. When it sells... and if things are sold off... Would you two be interested in buying stuff... like the Murphey Bed, that bathroom fitting... and the massive light and any of the kitchen cupboards etc?*
So happy to see you and hear your sweet & happy voice Kim. Loved the tour of the house. It looks like it has a lot of nice originals in it and absolutely love the built in lead glass cabinets! ❤❤❤
Yes, lots of renovation. I had my electric box replaced and the cast iron plumbing dug up and replaced with pvc pipes. That's enough renovation for me on my small house.
One more word of advice. I'm no gardener but I think willows are attracted to water. That's why, in the natural setting, they are usually along the banks of a water source. They are voracious and will seek out water often destroying your water pipes and sewer lines to get it. You don't want a willow tree near your house and in that small yard, I'd be getting rid of it poste haste. Maybe I'm wrong. ??
It’s interesting to see the differences between an American and a British house of 1908. You suggest that big room at the top was a ballroom, but isn’t it odd that such a grand space would be accessed by servant stairs? 🤔
It's a beautiful home, yet I could see there there may be some issues with water and leaking. All in all, still a beautiful home and would be great to see once it would be brought back to itself. Thanks so much for showing it.
What a great house! Kim, glad you took ua on this tour, the chandeliers are amazing, the tile floors are fantastic, the builtin's, stain glass windows, wow!!! If there is a way for you guys to grab it, go for it. You wouldn't have as much work to restore it as you do on the Brown home. You could almost move into this one. Then again, you have a ton of work and love put into that home. Don't now about locations.
I’m a little late in watching this video but I’m sure glad I did finally do it. What a gorgeous house. Couldn’t get how many bathrooms there was but loved the claw foot tub n even those sinks were cool. The Murphy beds was a big surprise. Did you noticed that the head n foot board was brass? So cool. I couldn’t hear the price Caleb mentioned but I’m sure it was high. I just hope who ever buys it don’t ruin the character n beauty of this house. Thanks Kim for sharing this. Really enjoyed it. ♥️♥️♥️♥️😊👍🌟
At 17:00 or thereabouts, that's a Hoosier cabinet. I have one, much much smaller. Fabulous storage. Mine has the pig belly drawers on the bottom (for potatoes, onions, etc.)
The area with the Murphy beds is a sleeping porch. Most likely it’s located on the east or maybe north side of the house, which would be cooler for sleeping. Plus all of those windows could be opened for cross breezes.
I don't think they would have their guests going up the tiny, twisty maid's stair to reach the ballroom. So I suggest the large upstairs room was either for their live-in servants common room (like their own living room) or a dorm room, or it was a work room for sewing, quilt making and large household projects. The lady of the house may have had hobbies and needed the room for her hobby whether it was sewing or something else. It could also have been a school room for homeschooling the children. Just throwing these out there.
It doesn’t make sense that the steps up to the ballroom are so narrow and utilitarian. It’d be an unappealing entrance to a special event room. Is there another flight of stairs we didn’t see?
There’s not! I thought it was weird too. Maybe it used to just be like a servants sitting room and it was spruced up. The flooring does look like new style hardwood.
@@secondempirestrikesbackvlo2578 Thanks, Kim! After I’d commented, I read further down to Sharon Duvick’s explanation of the space, and it made so much sense.
I've missed you and your sense of humor. Glad to see another video from you. Giggled over your excitement about the Murphy beds. But what an interesting house. Like yours better though. Have a great day.
Gonna go ahead and guess that the 3rd floor was NOT a ballroom. (If the only access is the servants staircase). My first guess was there must be a ballerina in the family, but there are no mirrors. Actually, it looks suspiciously like a comfortable tavern. !?!Man cave!?! What? I didn't say anything. *Now, how would we get a beer keg up those stairs?...*
Forgot to say it's good to see you again, and congratulations on gettin' hitched! thanks for the tour. This house is beautiful, but i prefer the warm Victorian wood at your home.
This house is freakn amazing! So cool! More St. Louis house tours please. Details of the listings in the description too.

Love this house! I think Kim needs to take us on more tours 👍
Beautiful house..love all the stained glass and tile floors.
Your camera work was good! House has some beautiful features. I'd love more tours! 💜💜💜
Wow what a cool old place! Love that cool shower and the Murphy beds were a complete surprise. I'd love to see someone restore this lovely old lady. Thanks for sharing! 💖💜💖
The cabinet is similar to a Hoosier. There might be drawers that are bins for flour or sugar.
That house is fascinating! I loved your excitement about the Murphy beds! They are really cool!

Beautiful old home and those downstairs lights are gorgeous. And remember… “you’re not rockin if you’re not Crocin!” 😂😂😂😂

Great video. Thanks for sharing
This looks like it's in the old St. Louis downtown.area we here in Louisville Kentucky have an area call "old Louisville". Thanks Kim for sharing.
Love Old Louisville
Kim, you have really great comments and filming style for shorts. I get stuck on them but I think people would love them from you.
Now that you mention it-you're right, she totally does!
Kim I loved your tour of this home for sale. Please do more. It’s so interesting to learn about the homes in St. Louis.
Mrs. Kim, glad to see you!
Nice house, get rid of the shed-lean-to thing and add a Victorian glass house for the fernery.
Absolutely beautiful ❤ My dream home. Thank you for sharing this amazing place with us ❤️
Great video Kim it's good to see you back making videos please do more.
What an amazing Diamond in the rough!!! Stunning!
Amazing house! So many little inspiring things in it.
When you got to the top floor: "somebody painted the woodwork"
me: THATS BLOODY DISGOSTEN!!!! 🤣🤣
DISGUSTANG!
Kim, would you put in an offer to buy this house if you could? I think it's gorgeous!
I was wondering the same !

That was fun Kim..those lights were amazing
Wow cool house. If we buy this will we be neighbors? Too steep for our budget. Hey I caught a glimpse of Papa John!!! ❤
Good to see you, Kim! Thanks for the Mansion tour! Spectacular now and even more so in it's heyday!
What an interesting old building! It definitely has a character!
I have so missed your sweet little "Bye-yee!"
It’s interesting to see the differences between an American and a British house of 1908.
You suggest that big room at the top was a ballroom, but isn’t it odd that such a grand space would be accessed by servant stairs? 🤔
Amazing place. Just needs Kaleb to bring it back to its best.
Where is this house?
It's a beautiful home, yet I could see there there may be some issues with water and leaking. All in all, still a beautiful home and would be great to see once it would be brought back to itself. Thanks so much for showing it.
What a treat! Thank you!
Oh, my! If I were 30 years younger I’d take that house on ❤❤
Yeaaaaaaa! Glad to have you Back! Thank you as always! 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Fun. Thank you.
Good to see you back!
Glad you are back doing videos! Great house. Thank you for this!
Beautiful home. Makes me sad it got to this condition.
So good to see your lovely face again Kim!! Thanks for the tour!! Amazing house for sure!!
Wow, long time no see. Its good to see you. Beautiful old mansion.
How funny 2 bathrooms for 1 bedroom! Your giggles made me laugh!
I'm really missing y'all!
Thanks for the tour, a great house for sure.
Ohhhh Kim (so good to see you) what a beautiful home. Thank you, I just loved the tour!
Oh I would restore the kitchen, l love it!! House is so wow!
Probably a nursery on the 3rd floor as well as servants

Great tour! Such a beautiful house. Hopefully someone buys it that can restore it and bring it back to its former glory.
Hey Kim I like your Crocs with socks 🧦👍
Nice to see about 97% original of the house itself
Kim, thanks for the tour! I hope whoever buys it respects the originality and preserves as much as is practical...
In other words, don't let somebody with "This Old House" ideas get ahold of it!
The glass upstairs is called Florentine glass
Hello Mrs!! Love this house..
I’m a little late in watching this video but I’m sure glad I did finally do it. What a gorgeous house. Kim I may have misunderstood you but did you say you'd be OK with your dishwasher in the basement?
Yes we’re going to have a modern kitchen in the basement so I’ll probably do most of the cooking down there
The area with the Murphy beds is a sleeping porch. Most likely it’s located on the east or maybe north side of the house, which would be cooler for sleeping. Plus all of those windows could be opened for cross breezes.
it looks like a fireproof house
LOVED this tour! Thanks so much!
Crocks and socks 😂 You made me laugh on that one lol. This house looks like it would be in a different country from the style of it. Unusual.
Beautiful home would love it the owner would restore it on a UA-cam channel and watch it.
Groovy!
The mansion house has potential but I like the Brown house way, way, better.
I love you're videos wish you did more.
Absolutely beautiful! And I LOVE Kaleb’s jacket!
Good to see your vlog pop up on my notifications 🥰 Nice tour I’m loving the stained glass and leaded windows 😱

great new vlog! were they selling stuff from inside the house as well?
It is an Impressive house. But dose it have the history of Mr. Halls house? 🤔😄
It has a lot of problems, but structural aren't one of them, it'd probably withstand an EF-4 Tornado!
It doesn’t make sense that the steps up to the ballroom are so narrow and utilitarian. It’d be an unappealing entrance to a special event room. Is there another flight of stairs we didn’t see?

It's weird that you would have guests walk up the servant stairs to get to the ball room.
Yeah, that didn’t make any sense.
I thought the same. Something seemed off there.
The Murphy bed room is a summer time sleeping porch
I've missed you and your sense of humor. Glad to see another video from you. Giggled over your excitement about the Murphy beds. But what an interesting house. Like yours better though. Have a great day.
Great camera work!!!! That house is amazing and that price is great. I wonder how much it would cost to repair.
this house is insaneeeee
Textured glass in the bathroom
I'm ready to move!

Why no update on the house no more
Need some updates...
Gonna make a video soon?
