Love the work Ben. If you want to see something amazing search up Leroy Troy doing Grandfathers clock, you will not believe your eyes. I am a disabled Vet and I play for tips around the campfire at the 49er RV Ranch in Columbia, California. This winter is going to be devoted to studying with your videos and getting a wider range of music. I had hopes to have gotten a Banjo this summer, but between the big fire and the President shutting down the National Parks, it was a lean summer. Maybe next year. I taught myself how to pick banjo when I was a kid, and miss it. You do great work. I use to use a group of cassette players to do what you do and play all the parts. Brings back fond memories.
I bought a Banjo in January and this is the song that I am learning to play, however when my instructor told me that we'd be playing this I thought.. "Never heard of it !", but once I started to learn it I remembered back to my childhood and I recall singing to this... great song.. love learning and playing it.
Written by Henry Clay Work, 1876 who also wrote "Marching Thru Georgia". While I love your playing, to refer to to this song as an instrumental somewhat diminishes the song, as the lyrics are as important to the song as the music...telling a clear, lucid story of a clock and an old man whose lives paralleled each other from birth through death, a story that is both sad & joyous at the same time.
Sure do! Go to my website in the video description above and I have over 150 tabs and videos to learn with!
Really sweet Banjo Ben! I always enjoy coming across you on you tube. Your banjo picking always has such a fun sound. Almost Zany at times.

It really is a nice rendition. It break's away from the usual melody just enough to keep it fresh.(And interesting) Good job!

Beautiful playing--that banjo has fantastic tone too.
Thanks so much!
Great version of Grandfather's clock!
it's so easy to play with the middle finger on the inside strings, and I only started in august, self taught.
