ACT Writing tips and tricks to get a perfect score! ACT Writing is often neglected, but the thing is, most schools may require an ACT Writing essay in your application, so it's good to make sure you take the Writing test and optimize your score in the process

That's definitely satisfactory. I wouldn't take the test again just to get 1 or 2 points higher on writing.
How can an argument go before a thesis? Are those not the same thing?
What I think he means is kind of a two part thesis. Like this:
I believe that dogs are better than cats (argument). Dogs are better than cats because lalala, lalala, and lalala (thesis).
can you combine an ACT writing score from one ACT with a ACT composite score from another ACT?

What does a counter argument mean
Hey, Cambridge (high school) student here! An argument is "reasons + conclusion." If my position is "dogs are better than cats," my argument will consist of reasons why i think dogs are better and my conclusion, which is me stating that dogs are better than cats.
A counter argument is structured the same exact way, except it is opposing, or countering, the original argument. So using the example from before, a counter argument might be why cats are better than dogs. It would give reasons why and conclude that cats are better than dogs.
Other terms you may run into are "point" and "counterpoint." A point is the same as a claim. It is not an argument because it doesn't provide any reasons. A counterpoint is also a claim without reasons, only it is opposing a point.
