    ACT Reading can be really tough on timing, especially if you're a slow reader (like me). But there's a few ACT Reading tips and strategies that make the process of getting through ACT Reading passages a bit easier. I discuss those strategies and how you can implement them effectively.
    These are the strategies that helped me improve my ACT Reading (and Science) score(s) by 15 points. The same strategies apply to both, and they can help you do the same if you practice sufficiently!
    Good luck, and let's get those ACT Reading scores up!

    I’m a slower reader, and i also have accommodations for extended time on the ACT. Even with extended time, I still find it really hard to finish in time. I have been trying to read faster, but I end up just wasting time because I miss a lot of important details.

    This tip helps a ton!!! I’m a decent speed reader, I enjoy reading. However, I get super nervous with the time but doing this helps and makes it fun. I recommend a ton and will update more practice by the end of the week!😊

    I realized I already do the first approach, but I need to worry about the speed that comes with it. And remembering those main components that I just read. When I automatically heard how the second approach go. I was like nope XD. I would end up spending more than 9 minutes on the hard passages that requires more depth because I will get used to being slow.

    i’m a slower reader and comprehends slow. i keep telling myself that the goal is to finish in time and not to sit there and overthink bc it also wastes a lot of time. got any tips for ppl who tend to overthink and forgets after reading something?

    • @5Academy

      Hmmm tough situation. I think mentally you should try to keep yourself to 30-40 seconds per question. If you can't cancel out any answer options within 40 seconds, guess and move on. There are easier questions later on in the exam that you should reserve time for.

    Idk if I’m doing something wrong but I keep getting the same score over and over again. I guess u could say I’m having trouble in that I keep rereading certain lines or I don’t understand parts of the passage and that I don’t have time to understand those parts

      Read the question and answers choice first and then read the passage

      beige berry Passage glancing does not work for everyone. It didn’t for me. I ran out of time and felt rushed because I wasn’t absorbing the information I needed. I just learned to speed read / speed summarize to get the passage done in about 3-4 minutes. I’d also skip around. You can do any 4 of the passages in any order. Start the ones easiest to you first so you can ensure ACCURACY. If you do them last, you have the chance of feeling rushed on the easy passages and then making mistakes.

    How I can skim a passage? I don’t know how to do that?? Any tips

    • @dhyeyranpara2351
      @dhyeyranpara2351 3 роки тому +24

      I get 32s on the reading by just skimming, just move your eyes fast throughout the whole passage and don’t get distracted and after every passage, write 2-3 words beside the passage that relate to the main idea and then when you go to the questions you can just narrow the answer down easily in a matter of 10-12 seconds, and you can have an extra 5-7 mins at the end to just look over

      @@dhyeyranpara2351 What if I have a disability where I tend to forget everything that I just read in a short period of time? My mind just goes blank and I have to end up re-reading the paragraph all over again. I have accomadations for the test, but even 15 extra minutes is still not enough for me to finish.

    • @dhyeyranpara2351
      @dhyeyranpara2351 2 роки тому

      @@WantBadtime if you have trouble with that, then on the reading section, go to the passages that you are more comfy with first, and take your time reading it, because you want the maximum amount right, and you just have to manage all the other sections like math, writing, and science

      Did you take the act yet?? If yes and got a good score congrats but if you want to increase it and plan to take it again, if you qualify for accommodations (which you do) you can get a longer time period if its available where u live but u gotta ask the people in ur school or try emailing someone
