MTA for 3 moths have refused to service machines forcing one way only tickets @ 3.90 with no free 2 hr transfer to bus. And reduce fare cards are not usable to refill so instead of $1.45 it's $3.90. Don't let them fool you. I used to work for Uber and needed to use a restroom in Manhattan. The closest one was in the train station and I clearly wasn't gonna pay just for that. So I come in and cops stop me, I show them I'm working that my phone's on and I have all the supplies etc. they say " ok just don't do it again". Im leaving, almost OUT of the station and someone grabs me from the back by my collar. I'm thinking it's a psycho, as I can't see behind me. Nope it's another cop. I said u just let me go, what's the problem & get your hands off me. He comes round front of me & outs his hand on my chest, I said don't do that, he says " what are you gonna do & shoves me again". Ended up being a fight, him on the ground and finally other cops came and broke it up.im a female btw, his officer buddies let me go because they knew he was dead wrong. So yes bothering people about little things isn't always simple, it can lead to unnecessary drama when in reality while he was fighting with me someone probably was on the train starting a fight or stabbing someone 🙄

Looks like the MTA and NYPD are treating fare evaders the same way as a traffic stop. If they catch you speeding, that could lead to additional charges if they find something during the stop. So if they catch a fare evader, that gives them an opportunity to see if you have warrants or something else they can arrest you on. That's what it looks like. Kinda like the stop and frisk, but legal lol
