it's a disease matthew. continue to fight like hell, and thank you for your bravery in being honest. I'm sure it'll help someone else, who is also struggling.
Wow, I remember watching this show as a child and daydreaming about having those friends and those types of experiences. Amazing to grow older and see the actual lives of the individuals playing those characters. Matthew is a saint for bringing the world in to his journey.
Might wanna not lose the word ''Saint'' so loosely. He's just another celebrity who f**** up, because he had more money than he could handle. I don't feel sorry for him. He still has millions of dollars.
How is that brave? By baring his soul to the world? Perry writes this in his book: "River [Phoenix} was a beautiful man, inside and out - too beautiful for this world, it turned out," Perry wrote. "It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down. Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?" Building others up by putting someone down? Matthew Perry sounds like a real prick.
I cannot express how much Matthew Perry relates to people.....He is just like us!!!Broken..addicted and humble..Love him so much.Cannot wait for his book!!!!
This is the kindest interview I've ever seen Diane give over some one's struggles. She was savage over Britney Spears. More demanding I felt when it was just Lisa Presley and now this - it's a complete turn around and she's showing signs of deep compassion for Mathew
I'm so happy that Matthew has people in his corner and that he is still with us. I have had loved ones that struggled with addictions it was hard to watch, some are not here anymore, and one of them I helped them and happy to say they are still here.. I would love to give Matthew a great big hug, and to tell him how he is loved, and to not to listen to all the gossip. You Shine, don't ever let anyone shade it.
As a fellow addict, I'm glad to see Matthew putting the real message out there - that addiction knows no boundaries and it can happen to anyone regardless of who you are and your status in life, and that addiction is a lifelong battle. Often we see Hollywood portray it as something people just go through sometimes and that it can be "cured". Speaking about the reality and horrors of addiction is keeping the truth of it. Proud of Matthew for opening up to the world about his struggles and being honest about it. Looking forward to his book.

As someone who is also in recovery, I can tell he's got some clean time. That he's really in recovery. From the outside looking in its easy for us to look at someone and think, what is wrong with them? Or why can't they just stop? I was the addict who could stop using but couldn't stay stopped. I had so much trauma that I didn't know I had and I didn't know was still effecting me. He looks great and sounds great and is so completely right. Tell on yourself is big one also. It's not wrong to have thoughts that aren't ideal to have, but for an addict who is often times controlled by thoughts and obsession, telling on ourselves is the best thing that could be done. Thanks for sharing this video. I can see the passion in his eyes and how grateful he feels. I truly believe that when he says that he cares about the next 1 and helping them get it also...
When I was 30 years old I was in therapy for the very first time. I was seeing a psychologist weekly… I was so ashamed and embarrassed I did not want anyone to know… So for the first three sessions when I handed this therapist the check but that session it was written on my mother’s checking account, because I did not want the tellers at the bank to see my name on a check that had a therapists name on the check. To this day I still don’t know any tellers at all. Fast forward 40 years… I have told at least a half a dozen people on UA-cam that I have a mental illness called borderline personality disorder. I know that anything and everything that you put on the Internet is there for the world to see forever. I am no longer ashamed or embarrassed to admit that I have a mental illness. I turned 71 last month… It feels good to be alive… I hope I have more years on planet earth, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. And by the way, I’m back in therapy… Once a week by phone, regular phone not Zoom I talk to my beautiful therapist Chelsea… This one hour helps greatly. I still have some bad moments… And I did dial the crisis line a week ago, they are there 24 seven… Thank God for those people they have been helping me for 40 years. Best of luck to all those who have a mental illness or an alcohol problem or a drug problem, or maybe even all three of those… Please let’s all just be kind to one another, thank you for reading this. 🙏🤘❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I became addicted to pain medicine after a surgery in my 20s. And it went down hill after that!!! Today I can say I've been clean now for 5 + years and I feel his pain. Like really feel his pain! I wouldn't wish that sickness on my worst enemy! I'm happy for him that he can come out an say it out loud for the world to hear! Keep up the great hard work, your worth it
I feel such a connection with him bc I am him, just not in the spotlight. I can't wait to read this book. Unless you've been there, you can't understand. You can read ALL the books, talk to ALL the doctors but unless they've lived this life, there's not a true understanding.
Agreed. Completely. Those commenting stupid things like "must be nice to be a billionaire and afford to go to rehab so much" do NOT get the point of this at all. Addiction is a very gruesome and awful pathway. I've been in his shoes. Sounds like you have to. I hope you're truly living your best life today, and if not may the future bring you peace and happiness.
The struggle is still the same and the opportunity is out there to get help just a little bit harder to find. Don't be a victim be a Victor. To those who have an excuse to bash this man who is trying and struggling everyday to get through this horrible disease..
Thank you Matthew for coming out with this book, and I can't wait to read it! So brave of you for that interview, because you will help so many.... He was always my favorite one of all...I felt connected to his character......I have been through many up's and downs, so I'm sure that your book will help me..... Wishing you all the best and you deserve it!!!!!

Thankou Mathew for your deep and raw honesty. I've been in recovery 43 years with 1 and a half years sober..a hippie from the 60s and like you a long long battle with addiction and recovery...11 years..5 yrs..3. And today much much gratitude for the great goodness of life one day at a time. Many years ago at this time..I dressed as a vampire and read my story of being a grateful recovering "wumpire".
MAde me cry to watch this. I have so much adoration for him and it is sad to see someone hurting and struggle so much. Sending out love to you Matthew. Be well.
So heartbreaking to watch this...I've watched 10 seasons of Friends 20 30 times and to know how Matthew actually was while filming and entertaining the audience...It'll never be the same...

Very brave in sharing this. I have to struggled with drugs and alcohol. We still love you matthew!!! Just glad your better and conquered your battles with addiction!
I'm halfway through his book & it just makes me want to cry, then watching this, you want to reach through the screen, take his face in your hands & calmly say 'Matty, you ARE enough'. Sadly, like too many others we've lost to this disease, 'before their time', it just sounds like the end of his story would be just as inevitable. As much as he's missed, I so hope he's finally found the peace & lasting happiness that had eluded him for so long while he was here with us.
Matthew, may you see the light all of us see in you. You deserve such greatness in your life and thank you for being vulnerable and open about this. I too am a recovering addict and I say the same thing, keep reaching out. Even on the good days, it may be uncomfortable but it's so rewarding. 💕

Dear Matt, I can´t really choose a favorite Friend but you´re it!! Thanks for all the laughter and tears while you were going through so much. I grew up watching and loving you and it still hurts to see the last episode. I love you.

No offense to all the friend’s cast because they’re all lovely and each one of has their own unique character but my favorite character with his sarcastic/ jokes of show was suffering in front of us then who’s immune from self-destructions over this fast growing world. I’m cheering for you Mathew and anyone else trying to take back their lives
My fave character as well.. ❤ what a great support system he got on his show, not like way before where they would have written him out. He is one lucky & blessed 🍀 man /actor
Friends, Chandler in particular, got me through some of the lowest points in my life. It hurts to know the joy he brought me and the world, wasn’t felt by himself. I hope the second half of his life is nothing but positive and beautiful ❤
Incredible interview he is so lucky to be alive for some people when addiction gets it’s horrific grip on them it’s a toss up who will lose and who will survive
It’s very different to share vulnerability, especially when you know that so much criticism can come back at you. I share my struggles because I like being an open book, my struggles, my triumphs, might help others. Matthew Perry sharing his most vulnerable times I’m sure helps many. Very brave of him, I wish him only the best.
I’m currently 17 months sober from alcohol and on the Vivatrol shot. Did it for myself first and then my wife. Good for Matt. Being an addict sucks but you can’t hide from it
And completely destoyed his looks. Once a handsome guy, now just 53, looks at least 10 years older. He is the poster child for what the terrible disease of addiction can do to a human...
Even during this interview there’s such a profound sadness with him. You can feel his sadness!

God bless you Matthew Perry. We love you and stand beside you. You’re not alone. Thank you for sharing. ❤️
what a gift he is to all of us. thank you Matthew🌟
Handsome, funny, talented, tortured…..I wish him the best life forward. He is a part of my past and I look forward to seeing him in my future.
Thank You Sir..
Mr.Perry.
Been There..done that.
I'm a survivor also.
Not an easy task with the lies..
But..still here..
Thank You..
I love this man so much. Such a profound and humble life. I'm still rooting for the Chan man!
I adore Him & prayers for a continued path for his recovery 💕
Bless all battling such a monster 🙏🏻✌️📿
Thank you Matthew for coming out with this book, and I can't wait to read it! So brave of you for that interview, because you will help so many....
He was always my favorite one of all...I felt connected to his character......I have been through many up's and downs, so I'm sure that your book will help me.....
Wishing you all the best and you deserve it!!!!!
So very happy Matthew is doing well and that he is helping others.
Will buy the book to support you of course. The laughter & the joy you brought to us all everyday especially when you were in so much pain. I want to say thank you and sorry at the same time. So glad you’re sober & healthy.
Pray you stay that way. ❤️🙏🏻
It was fun sharing my skit but oh so true. We do share because we care. God bless you brother. Keep on keeping on.
Thank Matthew for sharing your struggles to help other people. He is the best
I'm happy and proud of him! Hope he continues on his sobor journey!
Thank you Matthew Perry for what you’ve given us, not just with Friends, but with your vulnerability!
MAde me cry to watch this. I have so much adoration for him and it is sad to see someone hurting and struggle so much. Sending out love to you Matthew. Be well.
Me too. He looks like he struggling to even speak. He was my favorite in friends.
@@travet1000 mine too. 💚
So heartbreaking to watch this...I've watched 10 seasons of Friends 20 30 times and to know how Matthew actually was while filming and entertaining the audience...It'll never be the same...
He is one of my all time favorite actors, even without friends, he's just super talented. I wish him all the best for his life, his loves, relationships, and financial success
This snippet made me admire him all the more! What courage and compassion he possesses. I can’t wait for the full interview tonight!
Very brave in sharing this. I have to struggled with drugs and alcohol. We still love you matthew!!! Just glad your better and conquered your battles with addiction!
*too
He is a role model for others struggling...
He's giving hope to others❤️
You're brave and strong Matthew for sharing your story. I hope and pray you stay on the sober path .
Nothing "brave" about promoting your own book for greater sales
I admire your courage to be sincere considering the tough time you've been through. Such a great bloke. 👍👍
He’s still got it. Wish him the best
What a struggle he went through. So glad Matthew sobered up and realized what it was doing to him. He's not cured but he's better.
💕Matthew Perry. Matthew your going to help so many people with your book.
(Millions have addiction problems)
Matthew, Thank you for being so candid, brave and vulnerable! This video will help a lot of people and I'm very thankful that you put yourself out there and we're so honest! God bless you and all the very best you! ❤️
Love him and the brave mission he's on to help others ❤
YAWN. Another over indulged selfish Hollywood celebrity.
This guys problems are nothing compared to the rest of the world. Abused children, starving children, poverty. STOP THINKING ABOUT YOURSELF MATT. Do something for others for once.
Rip Matthew Perry 🙏🏻🙏🏻😢😢
Despite all the drugs and alcohol in his system, I've never heard any stories about any misdemeanors or lack of professionalism. Only possible when you're a genuinely nice guy. Hope him and others who have similar struggles in their lives have people to reach out to.
Dear Matt, I can´t really choose a favorite Friend but you´re it!! Thanks for all the laughter and tears while you were going through so much. I grew up watching and loving you and it still hurts to see the last episode. I love you.
Who else sobbed as they watched this feeling like he was related to you like you personally knew him it was as though you could reach in an touch him and tell him hey man your still here don't give up I grew up watching friends so did my sis drugs have destroyed my family in many ways to know Matthew Perry is still alive is wonderous he's so brave I love him
Me! I cried. His pain is so evident. You can tell he's genuine. I understand.
I cried.
Unbelievable now that he’s gone. He cared so much and thank you Matt! RIP knowing u helped so so many people 😢❤
God bless you Matthew. You are helping so many people! Praying for healing for you
No offense to all the friend’s cast because they’re all lovely and each one of has their own unique character but my favorite character with his sarcastic/ jokes of show was suffering in front of us then who’s immune from self-destructions over this fast growing world. I’m cheering for you Mathew and anyone else trying to take back their lives
Ikr? Had no idea he was going through this. I'm rooting for Matthew Perry ❤️
@@thatsbrujaafrikana How come you had no idea.
He couldn’t help but crack a joke at the end. So sorry he’s had such a tough life. Still such a funny man
I love his smile
Incredible interview he is so lucky to be alive for some people when addiction gets it’s horrific grip on them it’s a toss up who will lose and who will survive
I just thought too how incredibly lucky he is to have got through this and alive.
I love this guy..
Full respect to Matthew.. addiction is a horrible disease and to know it and trying to control it, is such a positive thing to do...
Its not a disease. its weakness..you do it to yourself.
@@juodasai You’re a special breed of stupid.
Best wishes man!!! You are my favourite from all Friends just you know. Big support from Serbia💪
Matthew if you read the comments people love you and wish you all the best
.you are an amazing man take care xxx
It’s very different to share vulnerability, especially when you know that so much criticism can come back at you. I share my struggles because I like being an open book, my struggles, my triumphs, might help others. Matthew Perry sharing his most vulnerable times I’m sure helps many. Very brave of him, I wish him only the best.
Rest in peace Matthew Perry. ❤
Love you Matthew. You were, and still are, my Friend. God bless you with good health and a life of peace, happiness, and purpose.
Thank you Matthew and as a fan of your work, I am proud of you. Never stop reaching out.😍
I’m currently 17 months sober from alcohol and on the Vivatrol shot. Did it for myself first and then my wife. Good for Matt. Being an addict sucks but you can’t hide from it
He's so brave for doing this. I hope this helps him to find the peace he deserves, because he already has the love of all of us. We love Matthew😍😍😘😘
Such a sweetheart. God bless him.
Too much alcohol and pills have definitely affected his speech but I am glad he is facing his demons and trying to get better!
And completely destoyed his looks. Once a handsome guy, now just 53, looks at least 10 years older. He is the poster child for what the terrible disease of addiction can do to a human...
