"Ochako is a sentient Hello Kitty sticker on a backpack full of sunshine and I love her" is possibly the best sentence I've heard to describe her. You also got right to heart of the Bakugo matter - he IS utterly THE WORST in a lot of ways, but that awfulness is the crux of his character and what makes him appealing in the twisted way that he is. (kinda wanna go on a long diatribe on my theories on character creation particularly in audio/visual contexts, but I'll refrain)
GeekOfAllTrades what surprises me is the lack of implicit character development in Dekus MOM of all people. hell, she's the first thing I noticed. Unlike most shounen series, she actually has a presence, even if it's just supporting deku.
y'know why I think Midoriya is the best protagonist? Midoriya: takes an incredibly heavy responsiblity from his role-model, works endlessly and tirelessly for several months, pushing his limits countless times to achieve his goals. Also Midoriya: trips on the first day of school and gives up on life

Not to take away from the fact that he put in the time and effort into the video and edited it well but UA-cams been out for awhile so the quality of first videos is going up. Especially with anime videos. You know who the good ones and the bad ones are so you can take key elements of the good ones and write a script and plan your editing accordingly. You can also turn to reddit for tips to put together a channel as well and figuring things out. the hardest part of creating a channel is probably the name of the channel. you want something that is different but can relate to the channel (Which is something I'd like to compliment him on because its a simple but different name and it "Explains" the "point" of the channel and he has an identifiable channel picture as well"
I wouldn't say coming up with the name is the /hardest/ part, but I have had it in my head for a while, so maybe I just forgot. But you're right. Knowing what to do to make the video interesting isn't the hard part, either. I'm kind of lucky to be starting this when I am, since other people have already gone through the process of making mistakes and hashing out what works and what doesn't. The hardest part is definitely the grunt work. Writing the script, putting the pictures together, editing the audio so that it doesn't just come out of one side of the headphones. . .
A badass birdman. I actually like him, and funny enough I know nothing about him! I think his mysteriousness is keeping my interest, that and his quirk is pretty cool.
FINALLY! Somebody who's able to see the bigger picture! The video itself was fantastically edited as well, I must say. I was literally rolling on the floor with laughter the entire time!

i have a question, is my hero academia a story told from Deku when he is the worlds greatest superhero talking about how he became the worlds greatest superhero?
Yep! It's a Catcher in the Rye situation. An older version of Deku who has already become successful is recounting the story of how he became the world's greatest hero.
AAron Holmes-Black I'm genuinely surprised that he isn't being bemoaned for being whiny and not a total badass as so many anime leads do which as an aspiring writer who believes in proper and slow character progression that there's more to people then their ability to mow ass grass this depressing audience tunnel vision makes my eyes role so far backwards that I can see the braincells committing harrikari after being forced to experience the stupidity of this godless vocal minorty.
n0ame1u1 the Droid Moto z doesn't have a headphone port either, but like apple there's an adapter you have to use that plugs into the charging port. Unlike apple however the adapter comes with the phone while you have to buy apples
You have to *_BUY_* Apple's headphone adapter?! Holy shit, it's worse than I thought. Also, I guess it is kind of annoying that the Moto Z doesn't have a headphone jack, but it's not as fun to make fun of because it's less popular than the iPhone.
One of my favorite things about this is how they buck the stereo-typical shonen/anime trend of having the protagonist be oblivious so hard, that if anything, it is LITERALLY as far to the opposite side as possible!
Wow, this was a great for a first video. Hell, it was just as engaging as gigguk's videos and just as well paced as digi's videos. I can easily see you growing as big as them if you keep pumping out this level of quality.
most anime youtubers dont reach millions of subs, with a very few exeptions, and in my opinion - its not a bad thing, someone like Digibro is considered one of THE most successful ones, with 300k+ subs, or Gigguk is one of the oldest anime channels on UA-cam and has like 600k+ subs.
Anime man, Lost Pause, and misty chronexias channels have very different content than Digi or Gigguk. They aren't analytical, they are more for entertainment through comedy. They really shouldn't be compared to Digi or Gigguk because what they're aiming to do is very different than Anime Man, Lost Pause, and Misty.
What? I understand Noble and kind of Misty too, but Joey? I mean sure some of his stuff is different from others but Digi also does the same, albeit, some in a different channel.
It's worth noting that even in the manga only about half of Deku's class has been properly fleshed out. The series really takes it's time to develop characters one at a time, and does not neglect older characters even as it shifts its focus to newer ones. You get the sense that while the cast slowly grows over time, all characters get their chance to develop as a whole, leaving nobody behind Are the scenes in 9:57(the flipped MHA) and 10:35 (wrong characters) editing mistakes? Regardless, the video was still very entertaining and interesting. You've definitely earned a sub
Nope! Both of those were intentional. The only editing mistakes that I caught (besides a few white streaks here and there from where I didn't fully erase some backgrounds on the images I used) were two places where I put the wrong words on screen. Thanks for the subscription!
just like the guy said he's meant to be unlikeable in the first season the manga would be different because it would've already dove into his character more
Ironically my favourite character was Bakugo from the start. Deku is my second favourite. I find his anger issues quite entertaining, it can even be funny at times, and my favourite character arc is between him and Deku. I find it fascinating how Deku looks up to Bakugo so much despite being bullied by him when they were kids. And in the manga, it's interesting to see in that in the brief for the character explanations the author refers to Bakugo as Deku's childhood friend. it makes me think there is something much deeper to their relationship - almost a secret friendship or mutual understanding - from Bakugo's side as well. Deku understands Bakugo better than anyone else, he is very emotionally attuned to him and that is shown in the manga as well when Deku can read into why Bakugo does something when everyone else thinks it means something completely different. Overall, great video by the way. I love that it is about one of my favourite anime.
You should also talk about how Konosuba's intentional contrast between simple animation and frames and then big budget animation parts emphasize certain feelings and emotions they want and work for what they're going for. It's a similar topic and I'm tired of people saying things have to be super shiny all the time or its crap animation instead of animated for it's purpose.
I really this the reason yuri on ice gave everyone backstories is that it was a gamble. They didn't know how popular it was going to be and so weren't planning for future seasons, instead focusing on creating a contained story arc with no loose ends. Which is fine. But now it's getting a second season I'm interested in how they are going to cope with having to develop each characters story with out it getting too complicated and detracting from the main character. Where as compared to MHA they were planning for future seasons hence why they left the side characters open for development.
This is like my seventh time watching this video, and one of my favorite things about My Hero Academia is the fact that it caused this channel to exist. I seriously love all of your stuff, don’t know why it took me this long to comment on a video to tell you that.
I've read the manga, and to keep it simple, this show ONLY keep getting BETTER! The quality of Boku no hero anime with the guidelines of the manga will ensure ONE HELL OF AN AMAZING PAY OFF, trust me :D
I love how he was 100% right in his predictions- the ensuing arcs do in fact focus on developing Deku's character, allowing Allmight to shift out of the limelight so that Deku could take his place, and fleshing out the background characters more.
I am actually beside myself. A smart script, well delivered, and simple but engaging editing. This is your first upload? Whatever effort you put in to prepare for this was worth it, man. There's a damn good reason you've earned almost 20k subscribers in two months.
Bakugou is the best fucking shithead ever and it physically pains me to see him compared to fucking SASUKE in this comment section. He's cocky and fucking rude to the max. But he fucking backs it up, he trained his Quirk like crazy so he wouldn't break his fucking arms with his explosions, and while being very confident and rageful, he always remains observant and continues thinking while acting on his shit instead of uselessly waiting around (see how he took down warp-gate-guy at the end of season 1). And him being rude usually just boils down to a foul mouth and a no-nonsence attitude - something many heroes seem to be lacking. He is THE freaking main character in third person, even All Might sometimes feels pale and stale in comparrision, as does Deku. He is more than those typical shounen school antagonists with overpowered skills, who typically have TOO much confidence, are revered by all and fail to act on their potential while turning their brains of because they think themselves so superior. Even in season 1, you can see Bakugou throw of all those tropes while remaining deliciously anti-heroic. I root for him more than for Deku because his flavour of heroics is realistic to me, opposed to the antiquated-feeling All Might-brand. It's effective, fast and thorough - no dilly-dallying, no flowers and rainbows, no rediculous rose-painting of the harsh reality that the universe of Hero Academia fleshes itself out to be. Fangirl-with-huge-crush-on-Bakugou-RANT OVER
TobiDeiFan those who compare kacchan with sasuke are anime viewers only. Manga readers know that Kacchan is nth like him, and he had a huge character development after the AFO arc
I think simplistic characterization can be good. But for me, that's only true when characters start like that, and they start developing alongside the progression of the story. When this is done right, I tend to love these type of characterization. There's something really appealing to see kids, naive and simple people get hit by the real world and change because of it, or simply reveal themselves for who they really are. That's probably why I love Gon from HxH in particular.
One of the best quotes you mentioned made me realize why I don't tend to watch a lot of shonen anime or anime in general. Since most main characters/supporting cast in anime are hard to give a crap about I don't get invested in their stories, motivations and/or goals and as a result they just feel generic and boring but with MHA I get legitimately pumped seeing every episode,I'm fully engaged and I'm always happy to see deku and the others grow and achieve goals. It's amazing tbh because not only that but all the character designs and powers are part of what makes the show so much fun! I remember watching naruto but honestly I never got invested in it even if it was similar in many regards it was just sorta boring for the most part because I could care less about most of what happened!
a lot of what's said here can be extrapolated from one of the very first things said at the beginning of the series. Deku straight up tells us "This is the story of how I became the #1 hero" (or similar), and from there the story goes out of its way to show us this is from his point of view, no one else's. There's a good example of this later on in the manga where two characters have a fight and, because Deku wasn't there when it happened, all we see is the injuries later.
ArcusofBramble but that's kinda like blatantly wrong with the fact that lately we've been focusing on the fights and growth of other characters such as Kirishima and Sun Eater. Deku isn't there for either of those fights yet we see the entire fight. One of the characters he switches to on a regular basis is shigaraki. So it's not exactly right to saw we only see it from Mido's perspective. Yes when he's in the room we are seeing everything from his perspective, but when he's not Horikoshi switches to another character almost seamlessly.
I love both My Hero Academia and Yuri On Ice, they're quite similar. I'm a huge fans of both but I would say that how they develop character fits their shows and tones perfectly. I follow your point, but MHA Season 1 is following Deku develop himself as a hero through education, the typical tone of school is that you focus on yourself, and grow with the active help of others. YOI Season 1 is following Yuri develop himself as an ice skater through action, the typical tone of an ice skating show is that you focus on the performers, and grow with the observation of others and helping yourself by learning from them. My Hero Academia and Yuri On Ice are the best.
great job on the first video! if you're curious, the Japanese names for each person also really help in enforce every characters simple description like you talked about. if you look at bakugo katsuki, he not only has the kanji for explosion right in his name, but Katsuki has the kanji for win in it and the word Katsuki which means the desire/motivation/will to win is being played on with his name. everyone's names do this, and it makes it even more fun.
Something that I think would be an interesting thing to analyze, is that originally the writer wasn't going to have Deku get One for All, he was originally going to be powerless throughout the series, relying on his wits, what strength he can gain on his own, and a few gadgets like a taser to compete with all of his classmates and be a hero. As much as I like My Hero Academia in it's current form I wish I could've seen the version with a powerless Deku who still manages to keep up and become friends with everyone in his class.
I love when someone is able to look at things from afar, observe, think, look at the bigger picture again, try to see the show for what it wants to be, think some more, and THEN talk about it. So many people just complain about things without thinking about why they are the way they are. SUBSCRIBED! Keep up the good work, I expect a lot from you ;)
Then i'm really impressed. I feel like you understand more about the series than a lot of people who have read it. Also, i just wanna say that from some things you've said on this video, you will definetly love things that will come later on in the story.
Let's see: -Editing that looks to be done on a modest system, but done with such precision and care that it could be easily thought of a professional. -Excellent opening thesis that is exactly what the title suggests, and said thesis is re-examined with each segment thoroughly. -Diligent research of a series to show why said show works not only well, but to great success. -Witty without the need to feel smug about said discovery. Just honest information and a dosage of humor for ease of information. -Actual talent in keeping the audience engaged in a discussion. Yep, subscribed. You undoubtedly get my support for further videos. Take your time in making these, because I can tell the rapid editing can be agonizing and tedious, but the results speak for themselves. You could write papers with videos like this. Seriously, you're an actual writer/critic for us nuts that grew up watching Goku punch things and scream all while we questioned WHY. We need more analysts like you to help us appreciate shonen, and we need more shonen like this gem of a franchise to keep us hopeful. Okay so rambling nerdiness aside, keep it up. Only four videos, but four videos that could trump fifteen in sheer quality and discussion. That and you're funny with Bakugo. Seriously, you have a lovely vocabulary for his douche mongering.
Hey! Glad to hear it. Don't know how much I'm going to wind up doing, since these videos are a hell of a lot of work, but I do enjoy making these kinds of videos, so I'm glad that other people enjoy watching them.
Well explained. No Annoying "Funny" Voice. No immature innuendos? Great video, Well explained. Great Humor. Subscribed and upvoted. I hope your youtube channel is a success!
That brief pause at the end of every video is such a strong way to transition between the main script and the closing paragraph. It's a clear divide between the main content of the video and any last things the audience might need to know, whether it be news pertaining to the channel or just simply a nice finishing sentence or two about the subject of the video. I know I could comment about this video in particular, but I just randomly found you when my UA-cam front page suggested a video of yours on MHA about Subs VS. Dubs, something I was very interested in. Problem was, I closed my UA-cam app on my phone to do something else and when I reopened it, your video wasn't in my suggestions anymore. I had to do guesswork to find whatever channel it was that uploaded the interesting video I had seen on the front page maybe an hour or so before. I'm glad I put in the extra effort. It's clear you're going to be massively successful as your analysis is well done and something to aspire to. It doesn't come on too strongly. You really make the audience feel welcome to your channel and videos. Keep it up, this is some good stuff, Exclamation Point!
"This guy is a BIRD" I probably played that clip at least 10 times. Your blunt humor is hilarious and your analysis is excellent! As someone only just now getting into the show, it was really nice to see this as one of the first videos I've watched on the show. For a first video, this is exceptional, and I can only see you rising!
Excellent video and I agree with everything ! About Yuri on Ice, I'm a figure skating fan first and foremost and that's why I loved that anime while being extremely surprised that so many people (including anime fans) liked it because... well you say it, on a pure storytelling pacing level, focusing so much on the other skaters makes the story feel clumsier and doesn't give as much room as it needs to tell the story of Yuuri, Victor and Yurio. But on a "rendering the reality, emotion, and feeling of the sport", if they had brushed over the rest of the competitor it wouldn't have been an anime about figure skating. I can't think right now about a sport anime where during the competition the protag isn't performing at the same time as some of the other competitors, while in figure skating (and I think the scene that depicted it the best was the one in the restaurant where everyone ischeering for Yuuri and Victor's engagement one second, then becomes deadly competitive about gold medal the next) who wins depends both on how you perform and on how the others perform : you can win with a very bad skate because everyone else had very bad skates too, or you can lose with the performance of your life because everyone was amazing too. So on the rendition of what the sport is actually like, with the personalities and life stories of each competitor being important, Yuri On Ice makes an incredible job at being actually realistic (and as a skating fans, I watched the Yuri On ice competition with the same intensity I watched real life figure skating competition). But on a "character/story" level, it doesn't balance as well. So I think Yuri on ice is much more a "litteral sport anime" because it's about the sport itself, not so much in the end about the protagonist's personal journey outside of his sport (thoughit's their, but it ends up being more of a sorta important B plot). And it can't really be compared with other sport anime where the sport is more a support for character stories. I was expecting YOI to go the MHA road in the beginning, and it would have been nice to watch as an anime fan. As a skating fan though, I probably would have been disappointed. Anyway, lots of rambling, but keep going ! that was a great video and I'm sorry for going on a ramble about YOI but that comparison really took me by surprise XD
I really loved the first season of BNHA and this video really cleared up some questions how this simplicity makes the show work for its first season, especially since my brother was confused why we were focusing so much on one character and not the others and I couldn't exactly find the words to explain the answer to that question. This was a great video!
Finally someone who agrees with how the show is. My friends went only to episode 3or4 of MHA and then they stopped because they hated the week character and how there was no info on the others. I'm like the shows bout how he goes from nothing to a complete badass and I said look at an anime with a classroom setting most main protagonists sit in the way back corner by the window and the only characters u will see his him/her and the other 3 ppl who sit near them Instead of putting them in the middle wear they would have to draw all the other characters. Same goes for this show cause way to much story behind characters makes u stray off from the main point.
So much YES on your first video. i thought I was in the minority that got extra apreciation for BnhA S1 once I realised it was a really amazing setup for a bigger story with fleshed-out characters. Totally got a Sub!
You've earned a subscriber from those visual puns alone (not to mention the great content in this video). Also, that subtle Tsuyu love... we all know she's the best side character.
I would agree if establishing motivation was hard, but it would have been super easy to have Mineta say "Someday I'm going to be Mt Lady's sidekick" and there you go, a more fleshed out character.
Amazing editing, Amazing analysis. Clear, concise, confident speaking with a well rounded and comedic presentation. Well done, I would absolutely love to see more
I don't know if you'll see this but I just wanted to say that this is an amazingly put together video and I'm so happy I stumbled across it when I did . I'm president of my highschool's Anime Club and I didn't have anything planned for our last meeting . I was lucky enough to find this and decided to play it on a wing . Afterwards , my entire club ( 40+ students and a teacher supervisor who's also into anime ) got into a discussion about the anime and manga along with character development . We even had some people who didn't like BnH at the start get interested ! Thank you so much for making these videos , I have no doubt that it takes a lot of research for these . I can't wait to see more of them on my dash c:
Holy shit, this is some goosebumps right here. I saw the first episode and was so unattracted to the whole series I insta dropped them. But you... I'm willing to have a second season of your life in my subscriber feed. Man, you're gonna go big.
It's kinda funny; there's no confirmed shipping outside of marriage, Uaraka's obvious crush on Izuku, and Ms. Joke hitting on Aizawa, there's no shipping. And then look at the fandom.
Dude... You're like a natural, fulltime UA-cam despite the fact this is like your first video. Nice editing and quality content. I like how fresh you made this video, hope you make more.
Dude, making an account just to put out content of this quality on basically a whim is pretty damned impressive. I dropped MHA's manga back during the camp arc, but some other videos and analysis, including this one, are all convincing me to go back and delve further, and none of it was even talking about the arc I dropped it in, just the overall philosophy of the setting itself. I live for that shit. There's some serious potential in this series, and some real potential for this channel. Consider me subscribed.
10:02 Technically, we also get to see Todoroki's fight in full, but that was just to establish that he was the guy to beat, particularly for Bakugo's sake.
Invisible Girl person is liteally the only exception to what you said about the supporting cast having enough going on with their looks, but god damn it still works.
I'm a simple man. I see someone talk about me, I hit subscribe.
lol I literally just heard you talk about this guy on Twitter. Now I'm subbed to him
Mother's Basement I can respect that
Ok, I'm getting me a third subscriber.
jk
Mother's Basement Tokoyami is a JoJo Stand with a JoJo Stand
Haha
Things should always START simple, it should never STAY simple.
Dan Smith tell that to the people who read JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and got to Stone Ocean
Hero Aca showws more and more the complications and trials including the public opinion of becoming an hero. And all the charACTERsdevelope

Well said, Mr. Smith (: p)
One Piece when you look at it started really simply. Now look at it 1000 episodes in, it is one of the great epics of the modern era of storytelling.
6:14..."...And Ochako is a sentient Hello Kitty sticker on a backpack full of sunshine, and I love her."
...you're right.
shaden keltner yeah pretty much. She is sunshine personified
Everyone's forgetting how chaotic she also is tbh she took martial arts classes just so she could kick Bakugou's ass lmao
CP 781 so she’s chaotic good?
"Ochaco is a sentient hello kitty sticker on a backpack full of sunshine and I luv her" ok, you earned the subs with that one for sure
"this guy is a bird"
+TheBlueBadass now that every body heard about the bird
Bird bird bird b-b-b- im sorry
She is more like the hello kitty baton .
Yeah, while he is ostensibly a goes-in-swingin type, he's also clever and skilled.
GeekOfAllTrades no that description was too clever by half. disingenuous and twee, I would suggest avoiding that type of writing.
Bakugou Changed soo much in manga - he continues to be an explosive temperamental guy but now he values more his friends
GeekOfAllTrades what surprises me is the lack of implicit character development in Dekus MOM of all people. hell, she's the first thing I noticed. Unlike most shounen series, she actually has a presence, even if it's just supporting deku.
GeekOfAllTrades That's really true.
y'know why I think Midoriya is the best protagonist?
Midoriya: takes an incredibly heavy responsiblity from his role-model, works endlessly and tirelessly for several months, pushing his limits countless times to achieve his goals.
Also Midoriya: trips on the first day of school and gives up on life

“I guess I’ll die.”
This was way better than I expected a first video to be. Quality editing, well done.
i know right
"""""quality""""" editing
but it was so bad it's good kind of editing so I have a thumbs
mainly i feel it was the timing, all of the edits were in times with the beginning of words and inflections, which i feel just gives it more appeal.
I wouldn't say coming up with the name is the /hardest/ part, but I have had it in my head for a while, so maybe I just forgot. But you're right. Knowing what to do to make the video interesting isn't the hard part, either. Well he's not wrong

Thanks! Took about 24 working hours to make from the moment I started writing to when I uploaded it, so I'm glad it's good!

Midoriya is probably one of my most likeable anime protagonists that I've come across in the last couple years.
Agreed
It like I've known him all my life
Matias Igancio Quintana Vilches there's a difference between being unoriginal and awesomely executed

6:30 Those aren't USB cords. They're audio jacks. In fairness, it's hard to tell the difference, seeing as the iPhone 7 has neither of those ports.
n0ame1u1 roasts like this should be illegal
Unusual Frog If Apple sold pants, they'd have different sized belt loops so you'd have to buy the Apple iBelt.
Watch it with such statements - you might get charged for arson.
n0ame1u1 the Droid Moto z doesn't have a headphone port either, but like apple there's an adapter you have to use that plugs into the charging port.
Matt Culpepper you’re right, Deku is very intuitive
"Our favourite background character" *shows Frog Girl*
Correct choice.
Tsu is best girl no questions asked.
ElevenEpics Objective fact.
AvtrSpirit I don’t see what’s so attractive about her. She reminds me of my little sister.
Jiro is best girl
I don't understand... Why not Gravity Bae.
Can't wait to be able to say "I've been here since 29 subscribers" in a while.
Can't wait for you to be able to say that, either! Tell your friends :p
Explanation Point Two fucking weeks. Damn, you grow fast.
2k subs O.o
Common Sense same bro
5k already, apparently youtube is now capable of distributing quality content, props.
Muscle Jesus...
yep
I like your editing style. Chaotic, but readable.
not to mention the entire point of the video that i hadn't even considered
Tokoyami is Tokoyami.
caw caw
Redmond lmao that was funny
Tokoyami is the best character in all of media.
No, Tokoyami is a bird.
Tokoyami is best bird.
It's worth noting that even in the manga only about half of Deku's class has been properly fleshed out. The series really takes it's time to develop characters one at a time, and does not neglect older characters even as it shifts its focus to newer ones. You get the sense that while the cast slowly grows over time, all characters get their chance to develop as a whole, leaving nobody behind
Are the scenes in 9:57(the flipped MHA) and 10:35 (wrong characters) editing mistakes?
Regardless, the video was still very entertaining and interesting. You've definitely earned a sub
Nope! Both of those were intentional. The only editing mistakes that I caught (besides a few white streaks here and there from where I didn't fully erase some backgrounds on the images I used) were two places where I put the wrong words on screen. Thanks for the subscription!
Misspelt "distill" being one of them? :P
Whoops!
"Bakugo is unlikeable"
...
-Bakugo wins the most recent popularity poll in the manga.
feels bad man.
Dylan Harrington he met the first season
lmao xd
just like the guy said
he's meant to be unlikeable in the first season
the manga would be different because it would've already dove into his character more
Danny Senpai nah he's still a dick we just know that he's a dick that will be a great hero
thats just because of the edgy impressionable kids. Same goes for Sasuke.
5:09 I am disturbed by the fact that Izuku appears out of All Might's crotch
Derpsicle lol it looks like All Might's legs are Izuku's arms
Derpsicle Tokoyami is a JoJo Stand with a JoJo Stand and you’re more focused on *that*?
Derpsicle u have a dirty mind bro
>usb cords coming out of her ears
>usb
her hero name is literally fucking "Earphone Jack"
:p
LUETIN though they're actually called audio jacks....
Also this came out before that episode.
DivideByZero No it didn’t, because “That episode” was when her quirk was named, and he’s watched the dub. Her quirk is named Earphone Jack too.
he's too young to know what those are.
Couldn't even recognize that this was your first video. holy shit you look like you've been doing this for a while. Good job
Yeah, he’s an incredible character, but he’s a terrible person.
... and I hate him
You should also talk about how Konosuba's intentional contrast between simple animation and frames and then big budget animation parts emphasize certain feelings and emotions they want and work for what they're going for. It's a similar topic and I'm tired of people saying things have to be super shiny all the time or its crap animation instead of animated for it's purpose.
Tejas Gandhi Animation from Ufotable is boring to watch most of the time.
Really well explained, and with some comedy in it too. Looking foward to this channel
This is like my seventh time watching this video, and one of my favorite things about My Hero Academia is the fact that it caused this channel to exist. I seriously love all of your stuff, don’t know why it took me this long to comment on a video to tell you that.
Holy shit. Saw this on reddit, great video! (It probably helps that I love this series). Subscribed!
Thank you!
JulioWys same I subscribed as well he did such a good job on the detail and how he went in depth on the 1st season and how the 2nd was trying to do
All Might = Muscle Jesus
I've read the manga, and to keep it simple, this show ONLY keep getting BETTER! The quality of Boku no hero anime with the guidelines of the manga will ensure ONE HELL OF AN AMAZING PAY OFF, trust me :D
Aran I love it, the story so far is only going up! *knocks on wood* things are still getting more hype!
IKR, they're taking time to really introduce these new villains, also, I'm loving the new characters
The overalls fit Deku way too well.....
You should of had a deku counter.
I love how he was 100% right in his predictions- the ensuing arcs do in fact focus on developing Deku's character, allowing Allmight to shift out of the limelight so that Deku could take his place, and fleshing out the background characters more.
..this looks like a promising channel
Still a fucking Sasuke
Bloodthirst and gerizzyYMcrew
You shall regret those words later...
Sasuke turned out super cool by the end. i dont care if Kacchan will be like that, still the typical character that appeals to the loud edgy kids
I agree with you, but Sasuke is a well written character too, cause he's realistic
Ko Enma Deku IS developed…
…he has a six pack
Don't worry, that's coming, S2 and 3 were only the beginning...
I like how you illustrate your talk with pictures. I love in particular this scene : 2:48
Long cat hihi
You sound like Justin Briner (Deku's dub voice actor) Really interesting video btw!
SmokedHam I hear it too !
Take a shot everytime he says Deku
tyler mercado only those with a strong liver can survive this
tyler mercado *dead*
tyler mercado I'll take one for every stale trump meme
"Alcoholism is for REAL MEN DEKU"
IT"S TIME TO TAKE A SHOT
Something that I think would be an interesting thing to analyze, is that originally the writer wasn't going to have Deku get One for All, he was originally going to be powerless throughout the series, relying on his wits, what strength he can gain on his own, and a few gadgets like a taser to compete with all of his classmates and be a hero. As much as I like My Hero Academia in it's current form I wish I could've seen the version with a powerless Deku who still manages to keep up and become friends with everyone in his class.
God bless the UA-cam algorithm for recommending this video. Solid new subscriber excited for more videos!
I love when someone is able to look at things from afar, observe, think, look at the bigger picture again, try to see the show for what it wants to be, think some more, and THEN talk about it. So many people just complain about things without thinking about why they are the way they are. SUBSCRIBED! Keep up the good work, I expect a lot from you ;)
Wow, that was awesome as a first video. Also, have you read the manga? Or did you make this just by analysing the anime?
Thanks! And this all comes from analyzing the anime. No manga spoilers, please ;)
Then i'm really impressed. I feel like you understand more about the series than a lot of people who have read it. Also, i just wanna say that from some things you've said on this video, you will definetly love things that will come later on in the story.
OOOH YES!! from the way you were talking I definitely thought you already read the manga, and yes! again! so much things to come!
Theaznman12 only seen the anime but is the one who hurt all-might's quirk all for one. Because if it is then that is somewhat uncreative.
But it's not a deconstruction of the shounen genre. It's just a good shounen series LOL.
Let's see:
-Editing that looks to be done on a modest system, but done with such precision and care that it could be easily thought of a professional.
Aww yeah! The first subscriber! :D
Looking forward to more.
Hey! Glad to hear it. Don't know how much I'm going to wind up doing, since these videos are a hell of a lot of work, but I do enjoy making these kinds of videos, so I'm glad that other people enjoy watching them.
Millawls 1-35,000 in two months. O.O
Well explained. No Annoying "Funny" Voice. No immature innuendos? Great video, Well explained. Great Humor. Subscribed and upvoted. I hope your youtube channel is a success!
i like your visuals on explaining your content. new subscriber here!
i ddnt feel any boredom for the whole 11:42 run time
That brief pause at the end of every video is such a strong way to transition between the main script and the closing paragraph.
Ayyy who from /mha/ general here?
>Anonymous 04/15/17(Sat)22:04:05 No.155948268
I won't stop xD
“Go be an hero, scrub!”
Oh my god that is so darkly fitting for what he says to him.
"What does sh- eeuugg, that..character design. What does Shigaraki--"
lmaOooOo
"... In two words of less, excluding all might." Muscle Jesus is 2 words of less...
Deku when he hasn't planned a landing *Fall might*
Deku when he plays sports *ball might*
Deku when he becomes an adult *tall might*
"This guy is a BIRD"
I probably played that clip at least 10 times. Your blunt humor is hilarious and your analysis is excellent! As someone only just now getting into the show, it was really nice to see this as one of the first videos I've watched on the show. For a first video, this is exceptional, and I can only see you rising!
I love the editing
how dare you call tokoyami, a bird
Black Haxorus squawk squawk dumpace
Black Haxorus he's a fucking Chunnibyou, but done right and likable.
Well, he has a bird head... so what am I supposed to call him?
Shadowhawk.
Revelry in the dark.
You raise some great points!
Thanks!
"Ochaco is a sentient Hello Kitty sticker on a backpack full of sunshine and **I love her**"
god dammit you know how to phrase it
Excellent video and I agree with everything !
Instant sub! Didn't realise you were new to UA-cam, this vid was really great!
You've earned a subscriber from those visual puns alone (not to mention the great content in this video). Also, that subtle Tsuyu love... we all know she's the best side character.
you did an amazing job I will look forward to next videos
I rarely subscribe to channels but your honesty in the last line "still trying to find a good sign off" made me laugh.. keep up the great work !!
Well done, I would absolutely love to see more
i bet you would give an hour long explanation on HunterxHunter
You're very welcome! And I'm happy my videos gave you something to do at your club! Hopefully it was a good discussion.
some Anime peoples : bakugou is terrible :<
most Manga people : *Lurking in a corner reading season 3's main arc* :>
Dude, you're a diamond in the rough. Love your approach to analysis videos - makes the idea of them feel fresh and different.
I wonder how Exclamation Point feels about MHA /BNHA now, after 5 seasons.
Holy shit, this is some goosebumps right here. I saw the first episode and was so unattracted to the whole series I insta dropped them. But you... I'm willing to have a second season of your life in my subscriber feed. Man, you're gonna go big.
Lol the Madoka when he says god 0:16
I have watched this few times over. You are awesome looking forward to future analysis.
8:37 ALL MIGHTS FACE IM CRYING
6:14 oh Lord Almighty that description was how how did you come up with that I love it that was great
It's kinda funny; there's no confirmed shipping outside of marriage, Uaraka's obvious crush on Izuku, and Ms. Joke hitting on Aizawa, there's no shipping.
And then look at the fandom.
By fandom u mean toxic mess?
*C H A O S*
lol! that editing is awesome. i love the rounding out you did there along with the name = appearance joke.
Did he say Yuri on rice?
I caught that, too!
Dude... You're like a natural, fulltime UA-cam despite the fact this is like your first video. Nice editing and quality content. I like how fresh you made this video, hope you make more.
>tfw he calls Jiro’s 3.5mm headphone jack ears, “USB cords”
>tfw no one notices
That intro is so relatable you earned a sub!
6:43-7:33 All efforts are futile. Fandom (_Tumblr_ -and I-) will love him anyway.
Hana of the Akatsuki Meexh I'm there with you Hana, but I knew where they were going with his character anyway XD love it
Hana of the Akatsuki Meexh >tumblr
Hana of the Akatsuki Meexh i fucking ADORE him
I mean if you've only seen season 1 you don't really have a reason to. Manga is different
"muscle jesus" XD
10:02 Technically, we also get to see Todoroki's fight in full, but that was just to establish that he was the guy to beat, particularly for Bakugo's sake.
"Muscle Jesus"
I'm watching this for the third time, simply because I love the was u do your videos. Your editing is both good, and cracks me up. I laughed so hard
"Yuri on Rice"
I know. Best moment of the video.
Soul Ash yurio nice
Oh my gosh you just explained why I like this series
Bakugo is my favorite
same
he is not my favorite but at times he is cool
Invisible Girl person is liteally the only exception to what you said about the supporting cast having enough going on with their looks, but god damn it still works.
