    The only problem I have with what you said is that is said bakugou wasn't smart. He is presented in the anime too as one of the smartest in class and also has a lot of smarts and skills in fights.
    also why are you against reading the manga? You like the series a lot and the manga is great on it's own.

      Maybe that was a little bit unfair, and I'll admit I mostly put it in for the sake of the Trump joke. Even so, despite the fact that he's "smart," Bakugou isn't able to take advantage of his intelligence in important situations due to his pride. (ie, destroying the building in the training game due to his feud with Deku)

      @@1999bazz yeah but think about it I'm the fight he had with him he lost... But he was using 5% and he was still using his quirk for like a year or so... Bakugo has had his quirk for years and years and was using big explosions which means his quirk was being used at full strength. So this means while Midoriya is using 5% Bakugo was using the upper limits, and do you remember when they fought All Might? He was loosing power and weak no where near his peak and was slowed down due to the wrist weights and beat the shit outta both of them. Now imagine Midoriya with that same power x3 cause Midoriya would be slowed down and he would probably be at his peak so that mean bakugo wouldn't have a chance in hell in beating Midoriya in a fight.

    I'm gonna have to defend Bakugou here. The second time he goes after teleporting dude, he's thought it true. He analysed the power level of the enemies, realising they were street level thugs. Knowing this, he infers that his classmates do not need backup and instead decides where he can best apply his power to help. His actions did not come from recklessness, but rather a rational analysis of the situation. In fact, it even comes into play later when his actions allow him to stop teleporting dude from giving Noumu backup.
    Another point, Bakugou does not weigh his self-worth based on others' opinions of him. He rejects Kaminari's comment about his attitude not because he wants others to praise him, but simply because it's an insult, and nobody likes to be insulted. He hates being recognised solely by the sludge incident because he feels that incident does not reflect who he truly is. He knows he messed up in the sludge incident, and chooses to move on instead of looking back and trying to explain himself. He chooses to prove himself in other ways (sports festival) and in doing so, grows and learns.
    Bakugou isn't adverse to learning, either. His face being down while All Might and the others go through the other rescue exercises isn't him breaking down, it's him reflecting and (as he says later) coming to terms with the fact that he is no longer top dog and needs to work his way to the top. *THAT* is character development. He wants to be the best (like noone ever was) and has become willing to grow to do so.
    I do agree with you that there are differences in how Bakugou and Deku learn, just not in the specifics. Deku is not talented. This forces him to take inspiration from others around him to make up for what he naturally lacks and needs to work on. Bakugou focuses his improvement based on what he personally can't do, and comes up with his own solutions. This works because even amongst the students in UA, Bakugou's talent and ability is greater than most of them. Therefore there is little point in learning from others, when his immense talent for battle can often come up with the correct ways to improve.
    Going forward, it's important to recognise the distinction between the Bakugou's bravado and his rational actions. While Bakugou remains an rude asshole, he often does the latter, only behind a barrage of insults that hide his rationality. The only times he loses his cool completely is when Deku is directly involved, and even then he shows a small level of thought. (Like in his fight against Deku in season 1)
    Also, this isn't really a spoiler, but Bakugou recently topped the popularity poll over Deku. So think about that, and get hyped!

    • @macrux152__8
      @macrux152__8 7 років тому +1

      My thoughts on the spoilers I've read(read a few chapters). He's getting fleshed out as actually a good rival for Deku. Add that to his knowledge that even his ability has it's own limits(and that awesome statement in the tournament arc against Monoma), he's really rising up the ranking.
      We aren't just rooting for the underdog kid that happens to get his luck at the best of times, but also at the (kinda?) nice asshole that has the obviously more awesome quirk(would love to have his airborne/flashbang/explosive hand cannons). The fact that he's not the ONLY rival of Deku, adding Todoroki in there, plus that awesomely nerdy Iida cements this series as an awesome one.

    Actually Bakugou has a mix between luck and skill. He was lucky because Bakugou has a good quirk and was praised for it, but because of that he feels the need to be special all the time. But the reason he’s skilled is because his need to be special makes him work hard at everything he does. So it’s not that he was born good at everything, he was born with the tools to be good at everything and he used them. (So basically he’s not just the 3rd student in the exams because he’s good at it, he’s 3rd in the exams because he worked for it, he’s cocky and says that he’s naturally good at things so I see how you’d get confused) so basically Bakugou is a perfectionist

      Olaf Dolida I disagree. If you look Season 2 and 3, he’s come up with several new attacks and strategies (often on his own). To Explanation Points...point, Bakugo IS lucky that he was born with a great quirk, BUT he could’ve easily fell behind if he was driven to be the best. He has the tools to become a great hero but he has to use the tools in the first place. He might not actively try to learn from others to become well rounded like Deku, but Bakugo is 3rd in his class by his sheer intellect and power. Todoroki in terms of fighting doesn’t use others strategies bc he doesn’t need too. Same with Bakugo. Doesn’t make either of them lesser heroes, nor do they have to work any less. They’re both talented but they work hard too

    I had a few issues with this, but based on the fact you watched the dub it made sense. In the sub where All Might says "You must be open to learning" he actually says "The reason you're upset is because of how mucb Midoriya has progressed. You must remember a person with level 50 power cannot progress at the rate someone with level 1 power can" which he meant as "you are so far ahead you can't progress as fast as him" but Bakugo sees it as "You are nearing your limit for your quirk, but the person below you still has much further to go" or he could even see it as All Might saying Deku has a better quirk than him which is why he's progressing so much faster. Also, Bakugo is not stupid by any means. He placed number 1 on the entrance exam which means both the written and the practical. There were also scenes of him admiring All Might as kid, striving to go forward as well. He feels threatened by Deku due to an inferiority complex (which SPOILER is explained later on in the show but can be inferred by his constant feeling to make Deku feel less significant). People with inferiority complexes take things that aren't meant to seem bad as someone saying "they're better than you". They can be gained through constantly being told how great you are thus giving an inflated ego until being crushed when reality hits or in Deku's case be caused by constantly being told you're worthless. I feel like that's the best way to explain his personality and while some of this may be backed by the newer seasons I've felt this way since end of the sports competition when he refused to be placed as number one due to todoroki not giving it his all, making him feel looked down on

      his toxicness and approach at being a "hero" outweighs his strategic prowess, which isn't much, but its there. anyone else in that class is probably way more of a candidate at being a hero or even number one due to them having better mindsets than bakugou who has a bull in a china shop type approach, only this bull is slightly smarter than most. he'd rather destroy a building in trying to defeat a villain than go through and save victims as swiftly as he can.
      tell me its more important to kill the villain than save people first and then take out the villain.

    • @MamiK00
      @MamiK00 7 років тому +8

      Mark Sealey yeah, Bakugou's main issue is his desire to dominate. A hero is meant to be a source of comfort, someone to rely on when there's danger. Bakugou has as short a fuse as Shizuo Heiwajime, he's not really equipped for such so it's easy to forget he actually does think.

    I also want to thank you as this is the first somewhat-close-to-a-character analysis of Deku and Kacchan. I do have to disagree on the part that Kacchan isn't willing to learn. He actually did learn right after that arc, that there are others that have the potential to be stronger than him. He even states it in his outburst when Deku confronts him at the school gate when he tries to go home. It is just that his ego is so big that instead of acknowledging that there might be people stronger than him, he just tries to improve himself constantly, so it never will come to a point that he can actually lose hence come to the terms that he is not the best after all. Also Kacchan is smart. His second attack on Kurogiri was helpful and his battle style is well thought through. He also is book smart. So saying he is "stupid" would be inaccurate. He has a big ego, and acts "dumb" when it comes to his ego; but it isn't that he just doesn't understand that he may not be the best after all, he just doesn't acknowledge it as a fact as of now. These 2 things have a huge difference. I would dwell more on this but then I would go in manga spoiler territory so I withdraw for now.
    8:50 I actually rewatched the first season and didn't realize that. o. m . g.
    11:10 When did Kacchan ever say "stop calling me that?" my memore tells me he never did.
    I would gladly see whatever you have to say about these two in the future. I thirst after content like this.

    • @KainYusanagi
      @KainYusanagi 7 років тому

      One correction: He's intelligent, not smart. Thus, EP calling him stupid is honestly correct. He is quick-witted and able to easily think on his feet, with an intellect that enables him to make logical connections and infer facts from small hints, and understand things quickly enough when he applies himself, but he's never really had to learn anything. It's even shown that he doesn't pay attention in class, both during regular school and at the Hero School, up to this point.

    • @eff-fume
      @eff-fume 7 років тому

      No one can be "intelligent, but not smart". As I said he is intelligent but he has such a big ego he just ignores everything that doesn't concern him personally. That he doesn't pay attention in class is also bull imo, if you ask me, in the manga he scored in the Top 10 in the first written normal school exams. He may look absent minded though.

    • @KainYusanagi
      @KainYusanagi 7 років тому

      That's actually one of the best examples of him being intelligent, but not smart. Being intelligent is winning the genetic lottery and being naturally brilliant. That can only take you so far, however, because once your intellectual capacity is overcome, you have nothing to fall back upon (and again, this is a first season anime character profile only, to which this is accurate). This is at odds with Deku, who isn't intelligent, BUT he is very smart- he applies himself rigorously and learns everything he can from everyone so that he can better himself at every opportunity, and because he does so, he quickly grows in leaps and bounds, to the point that we see him where he is now, in the manga. The encounter with All Might's previous sidekick is a stellar example of how it's smarts and NOT intelligence that Deku possesses, because he can't figure out how to handle him within the timeframe given, even though he knows what his Quirk is; he gets flustered because he lacks enough data to formulate a plan of action against him. And yes, I'm being specifically vague on this so as to not provide any spoilers.

  • @mblackadder50
    @mblackadder50 7 років тому +645

    I disagree with you on two points the first point about attacking Kurogiri the second time, as stated by Bakugou Kurogiri was their warp gate which means if they take him out the villians can't escape making him a high priority target if you think of the villains as a threat to be rather than one to be escaped from. Bakugou thought about the villians as a threat to be dealt with than a danger to be avoided. The enemy is here they are to beat defeated is Bakugou in one. As pointed out by Kurogiri about 13, experience would let Bakugou not make that mistake.
    The second point is that when Bakugou is being criticized by Momo Yaoyorozu following the training arch he says bluntly to Deku that he can't disagree with her statements about his actions which kind of runs counter to the idea that he can't learn. He was not "not paying attention" he was very much listening and her words ate at him. For someone who can't learn he seems to take those words very much to heart.
    *edited to fix my horrible grammar and terrible spelling, it's better still not perfect.

    • @mojosilver82
      @mojosilver82 7 років тому +34

      I agree with the second point. That everyone else made good calls. While Bakugou was not only screwing everything up, but cost his team the win. His partner was even said to done the best job out of everyone. So Bakugou could not even blame Tenya for the loss. That was as a even bigger blow to his ego (IMP) them seeing the other kids with amazing powers. After all he could see other people with amazing quarks on TV or something. But for Bakugou to not only fail, but have that failure be purely his fault. It seems to shatter Bakugou's world view. That Bakugou can bounce back shows the viewers there more to him then being a lucky jerk. I look forward to seeing how not just Bakugou, but all the characters change as the series goes on.

      @mojosiIver82 If you haven't read the manga, don't make the arguments that solely based on your subjective opinion. Even in the anime, in his conversation with Deku afterward, he didn't mention Iida at all, but Momo and Todoroki. Note that he just named everyone that blew to his pride, and there's no reason for him to not list Iida as well. He just doesn't show to care much about Iida, but considers Momo and Todoroki as good obstacles to overcome, which is even more obvious later on.

    • @mojosilver82
      @mojosilver82 7 років тому +14

      Your right. I have not reading the manga. But then I'm not talking about the manga I'm only talking about the anime. As Explanation Point said this video was a examination of season 1 of the anime. As for what Bakugou in end of episode 8. Three things happened to Bakugou that seemed (IMP) shatter his world view. 1. Bakugou lost to Deku. Then 2. Momo pointed out his failings and he agreed with her. And finally 3. seeing Todoroki's power. A power he does not know how to beat. As for why I'd brought up Tenya. It was only to point out that Bakugou could not blame Tenya for the failure. Bakugou could not say if only I hadn't been paired with that lose I could have won.

    • @cistra626
      @cistra626 7 років тому +38

      The theory is proven wrong by the manga. As simple as that. It's you're "not talking about the manga" and because I DO understand that so I don't want to make spoiler. It's simply that the point is proven wrong in the manga, that's it. I don't know what else I can say without spoiler.
      Btw, Deku literally gave him the reason to blame on. And his reply is "Then, so what? You beat me fair and square. That's all there is to it. That's all". He never had the intention to blame anyone to begin with.

    I know Bakugou is popular and that he gets some character development in the manga (which not everyone can read please get off your elitist high horse) but so far in both the anime and manga approximately 80% of his appearances are of him being an asshole in some capacity to someone (usually Izuku who has done nothing wrong ever don't @ me and take of your shipping goggles, pulling pigtails is not a valid flirting technique and it's pretty gross that we tell people that the reason they get bullied is because the bully likes them essentially associating violence with affection in this essay I will-).
    In a series where almost all the heroes get some positive character development, Bakugou stands out as the one "good" main character who isn't likable as a person (except Mineta but we don't talk about that). He's rude, borderline cruel, and refuses to learn from his mistakes or even try to adjust to new surroundings. Bakugou is intelligent sure, but he isn't smart.
    I get that he's a child yada-yada he's still growing blah blah he has time whatever, at the end of the day you can like a character as a character but not as a person and I guess that's what's happening here. I think a lot of people like Bakugou's potential more than the character itself. He's strong, cocky, and an asshole but hopefully that mellows out and he stops being such a fucking dick.
    *tldr:* IF BAKUGOU DOESN'T APOLOGIZE SOON TO MIDORIYA IZUKU A.K.A. DEKU A.K.A. MY ACTUAL SON A.K.A. THE BEST BOY ALIVE THEN I WILL PERSONALLY INSERT MYSELF INTO THIS SHOW AND KICK HIS TEENAGE ASS

Also some people say that he was a bully and it's true. But his fangirls then come after them and try to justify his actions by the cause of his actions. Yes, he was always praised so he felt superior, he had a superiority-inferiority complex, i get it. But that doesn't justify his actions. he still doesn't regret that he told someone to kill themselve. He is getting good character development now but he's still mean and rude and dosen't regret his actions. And of course DON'T EVEN EXPECT THAT HE WOULD EVER APOLOGIZE FOR WHAT HE DID. He is BAKUGO. He doesn't know how to say sorry.

(I also have zero studying skills, but I'm learning!) being mediocre is a blessing all of its own tho, you learn you don't _have_ to carry, or feel like you're carrying the weight of everyone around you's success and expectations and if you fail everyone fails. you can just be average. that's probably why I think bakugo is such a p***y, tho horikoshi is doing the _most_ with him this arc and I might be forced to start liking him. bakugo could just learn and grow, but he straight up refuses. constantly.

  • @Gatekid3

    i think bokugo is smart, charging head first is probably his first plan, but when his "superior power" alone doesnt work, we will do what is necessary to win.
    bakugo rushes in and gets flipped by deku, catching him off guard like that probably made him feel terrrible, but the second time, he knows deku would expect him to charge in again, so he blasts himself over and attacks from the rear. I also feel him slamming deku into the ground was his way of erasing the fact that deku did it to him in his mind
    so in combat it seems like although he is angry, he is leveled enough to thing of a short term strategy.

Even when it comes to schoolwork, he's naturally intelligent, so he can figure out the problems easily without ever really paying attention to the classes. He never was challenged intellectually and thus never really HAD to learn. That didn't come until later, which the first season only just shows the start of.

    • @dracocrusher
      @dracocrusher 7 років тому +3

      I forget exactly when it happens, but at some point there is an exam that ends up showing that Bakugo's actually is pretty smart, as the original comment said. I forget the exact listings, but, if memory serves, he's actually not that far behind Momo, whose key trait is that she's intelligent and well-read because to use her quirk she needs to learn how to make a wide variety of things.

    • @KainYusanagi
      @KainYusanagi 7 років тому +5

      It's the exam arc, and he's 3rd in class, while Deku is 4th. Momo is both intelligent AND smart, which she shows by instantaneously reacting to situations intelligently, and also able to analyze situations and break them down, as well as having a lot of book smarts both normally and also due to her requirements for her ability. Deku is very smart, but not all that intelligent. He constantly falters whenever he has to apply himself in a situation where he doesn't already know things, and doesn't get clues from his surroundings very well. Again, though, it's all subjective- he's still plenty intelligent in general, but compared to heroes, he's deficient. His training is all about how to figure out his responses beforehand, so he doesn't need to think them up on the fly; If you've ever read Baby Steps, it's very similar.

  • @ryanjones_rheios
    @ryanjones_rheios 5 років тому +38

    I think you misread Bakugou's reaction to the hero's praise - post-Sludge Rape. He wasn't ignoring the hero, he didn't *agree* with him because Bakugou's ego is as hard on him as it is on everyone else. I tend to think of Prince Zuko from Avatar in that regard and what his Uncle told him: Pride is not the cure for shame, but its source. Bakugou was ashamed and people praising him afterward just made it worse. Its why he chases Midoriya down to pridefully give him shit before 100% leaving him alone after those events. He was ashamed. He just has no method for dealing with that save fury because Bakugou weaponizes his insecurities.

      as for the analyzis on bakugou, he's obviously the main rival, him and deku will keep pushing each other and end up supporting each other without realizing like they're meant to do, he's a core pilla of Deku's growth so of course he's as fundamental to his story as All might is, maybe even more.

      those arent good examples tho, Fairy tail's never a good example other than how to make a badass fight and HxH barely follows any shonen standard (which is why its good tbh, imo)
      BHA es clearly meant to be a long series so everyone will have their time, and they've had their own things in the manga, its just that Deku is still the center of it, rather than comparing it to other series who have their own premise, compare it to other series with the same premise, like Kenichi for example or other sport shonen series like Ippo or E21, the shows are about a single guy and its jorney to the top, yes other characters then to have their spotlight for themselves every now and then but it always comes back to Sena, Ippo, Kenichi or in this case Deku, even for a show this long... its not even that long yet (if you compare it to others long running shows) which seems to be the goal for the author, im sure we'll get more arcs like Iida's soon.
      just remember the series is supposed to follow Deku's journey, not anyone elses and that may be a flaw on itself, but thats the premise of the show.

    Honestly I don't agree with the video. Even based on the knowledge of just season 1, we know that bakugou is incredibly intelligent, and a genius with his quirk, such as how he controls his movement with explosions, and his incredible skill in a fight. You don't get as skilled as bakugou does just by a good quirk alone. He had to train himself to get that skilled, and we know this due to yayorozu's explanation during the deku vs bakugou fight, where she notes how skilled bakugou would have to be with his quirk to be able to control his movement in the way that he does. While Deku is an incredible learner, bakugou is an innovator. He makes his own strategies and techniques, and is incredibly good at doing it.

After all might came in to talk, he clearly knew that he had to work harder to get to "his rightful place". And bakugo does really work hard, overall. He doesn't just sit around and be an asshole. His grades are really good and he clearly does a serious amount of physical training as well. There is a reason that deku tells him that he "wants to beat him, because he is amazing."

    I like the format of the video, but there are massive points in season 1 alone that blow huge holes in your argument about Bakugou's willingness to change, and his intelligence and make it come across as really one sided. I would recommended taking the other side of your argument and try to take notes to counter your own points and develop your analysis while acknowledging the criticisms that may come against it.
    I look forward to watching this channel grow and future videos.

    I hear what you're saying but i just have two problems with your theory:
    First, yes you are right, Bakugo did get overwhelmed with the fact that the other students namely todoroki did better than he did. But he watched and observed thoroughly and he did listen to yayurozu as she described his flaws in his fight with deku. He showed that he learned from this at the end of the episode where he challenged Deku, clearly stating that he was not number one, but that he would be.
    Secondly i disagree with your statement that he is unwilling to learn, he analysis almost as much as Deku does. Think about it when he fought deku the first move he used was countered, so then he came up with the idea of using his quirk to move through the air. He learned that his regular move wouldn't work and adapted. As well as at the end of the season when he fought kurogiri, he realized that there was something there for him to attack which is why he went for a second attack which turned out to be right. i'm not saying that he isn't lucky, he is, but he is also starting to realize that there is work to be done and things to be learned and he is taking the necessary steps to get to that number one spot, just not as quickly as deku though

    • @Flaris

      Yeah, the difference between Deku and Bakugo is inherent skill. Bakugo is inherently skilled and talented. Todoroki made the point during that test when Bakugo was facing Deku. He looks like someone who would be reckless and wild, but he's actually very skillful. Bakugo couldn't say anything back to Momo from her analysis, but that's because he had to agree with it.

      to be fair, bakugou's intellect and skill aren't shown off as much early on, same with his actual heroism or commanding presence. you have to wait until he engages in some combat with teeth or hits an actual wall to get more of those qualities and less of that fucking smug assholery he uses as a baseline.

    I will say I disagree with one point of your analysis; when you listed all of Bakugou's traits, you said he wasn't very smart, but that's not entirely true. He's all the other things you mentioned, which certainly interfere with his actions and make him the relentless assbag that we know him as, but he does usually have a plan. When he mentions going after Kurogiri again to Kirishima, he's saying that with knowledge of what his power is this time, and knowledge that as a warp gate, Kurogiri is probably the villains escape plan, and thus the prime target to ensure all of these guys get captured. He gives things a fair bit of thought, but his other flaws kinda mask this and his rashness means his usual solution to a situation is the one most likely to grant an immediate victory, even if it's super risky, like the initial attack on Kurogiri.

    Hey man, great improvement from your 1st video, although I disagree with a lot of points haha. A good point you could have brought up and what I really think describes these 2 characters is their opposing and at the same time very similar aspirations. Bakugou wants to be the strongest hero and does not care about popular oppinion, he wants to be strongest hero in his own eyes, that's how he sees All Might, to him he's not the symbol of peace, he's the embodyment of the strongest person in the world . Deku is the complete opposite, his drive is to be recognized as the greatest hero, being strong is just a means to an end to him. Their fight on the building bomb exercise portrays this duality perfectly. Bakugou does not care about winning the challenge, he wants to be the strongest person in the building. Deku's aim is to act as the hero and to do so avoids fighting. Bakugou's frustration does not come from losing to Deku directly, it comes from Deku ignoring his strength and not letting him prove himself he's stronger than him, what matters to Bakugou is not showing everyone he's strong, it's all about him making sure he's stronger in his own mind.

    I take issue with the fact that you rely on the English dub when discussing the name “Deku”. The English dub completely ignores the meaning that the name actually has in Japanese, and Uraraka’s alternate interpretation of the word’s meaning. It’s not just a nickname. It’s an actual word.

      JaydenDraws not really no... See "deku" means "can't do anything "... Which is why bakugou uses that as izuku's nick name... Uraraka actually points out that "deku" can also be used as a part to mean "can do anything " which is why she liked the name... It was because of this reason izuku chose "deku" as his hero name.. It had nothing to do with showing bakugou the figurative middle finger or to change the meaning of the word and what it symbolized

      @Petrichorus- 6 років тому +79

Izuku using the name "Deku" as his super hero name and taking the power of what that name implies away from bakugou was kind of him showing the middle finger.... But him *choosing* the name deku as his super hero name had nothing to do with bakugou... It never even crossed izuku's mind to use that name to taunt bakugou... He kept the name as uraraka showed what it could mean and izuku liked the idea

    Rewatching this from my analysis playlist after four years. There are some aspects of this analysis that seem spot-on and very insightful, but others really aged. And I'm not sure if it's because I've always watched the sub or because I've had more time to observe Bakugou on a broader and deeper level since then, but there are some aspects that seem a little off, even for just season one. Like:
    Bakugou not listening to All Might or Yaoyorozu. Even though he was emotionally overwhelmed, I'm sure he heard what Momo said about his fight and said she was right.
    And Bakugou and Kirishima's attack at USJ not only delayed Thirteen being torn apart but, also, revealed that Kurogiri had a physical body, which Katsuki later apprehended. It wasn't that he was being a dumbass by repeating the same mistake; he'd actually found an opening and used it to their advantage. Yes, his and Kirishima's impulsiveness led to the class being scattered, but it seems that would have happened either way.
    And I've heard this multiple times but... Katsuki has never gotten upset about the nickname Kacchan (or any other nickname for that matter). At least, not in the sub or source material. Again, I haven't watched the dub so maybe that's why I've never seen this.
    In retrospect, it's not that Bakugou wasn't smart or was unwilling to learn. It's more like everything he had grown to believe - especially since he *is* actually rather intelligent - was being uprooted overnight. Before U.A., he'd never had to internalize criticism and readjust himself because most everyone and everything led him to believe he had always been right. As a result, his learning and growth process was slow because there was just too much to unlearn too suddenly.
    His initial reaction is a minor breakdown, which makes sense given the fifteen years of smooth sailing he's had up until now, but beyond that he begins to move forward. All Might worried he'd be completely crushed after *Kacchan vs Deku* (valid, since Katsuki almost had a whole panic attack over it), but he'd already decided to get stronger and told Deku & All Might as such.
    Season one was short and only the beginning so no one really had the full picture, but that bitch has really come a long way since.

    I disagree with you on multiple points, for one Bakugou though born with a better quirk was also a top student in studies meaning he had better genes (luck) or studied harder or more efficiently (skill) making him better while other students could have studied just as much.
    During the practice battle he did invent the technic where he changed his velocity whilst attacking Deku, which you showed Deku using, literally countering your own argument, not only that but during the battle, when attacking for the second time, he switched up his approach showing that him rushing in wasn't just thoughtless violent, he rushed his opponent the first time hoping to either beat then with pure power or to get a feel, most likely hoping for the first while also preparing to change his next attack to adapt, his knew Deku analyzed him so he changed his attacks on purpose.
    Also when Momo was evaluating him during the training exercises he not only listened but considered her words as it resonated in him and he contemplated how he got too involved in defeating the enemy combat-wise rather than goal-wise.
    Not only that but during the battle against the villains he rushed in a second time because the portal villain was the only way for the villains to escape and get reinforcements meaning he was a high priority target whether the battle was in their favor or not, he wasn't looking to avoid the villains he was looking to defeat them.
    In addition not only during combat did he show his intelligence he explicitly stated that Ikuzu defeated him and Todoroki was better than him showing he understands where he stood in the food chain at the time, in addition the reason he doesn't change his personality after being criticized on it is because he doesn't want to be liked he only wants to be top of the food chain and for everyone to know that. Though I don't agree with him I can respect his understanding that his genes are better than most other's and that he only needs experience and training. Genes determine everything, not just in the anime but in real life.
    Side Note: Nice bring mainstream politics to an anime video, really added substance to your arguments.

      EpicEIF The Undead Ok saying Bakugo is an intelligent character cause he can fight well is like saying Goku is an intelligent character cause he can fight well. Most of Bakugo's actions are pure instinct mixed with the very base knowledge he chooses to remember about others i.e quirks and how they tend to fight like Midoriya always thinking before acting. I feel like a lot of people have said this but getting good grades doesn't make you actually intelligent it just means you have a good memory which as we've seen Bakugo has when he chooses to remember something which when it comes to grades he will remember information because he won't be the best if his grades aren't top notch. Basically all of Bakugo's character actions revolve around being the best and instincts (well untill later in the manga) his luck comes in when you realize his quirk, memory, and instinct were all things he got naturally as he grew up he didn't earn them. In regards to his costume it doesn't take a genius to come up with 'If I store more of my nitroglycerin sweat up before using it the explosion will be bigger and more powerful. He knew the triggers were his hands so all he had to do was put the storage near them besides that he just had to make it look cool. I'd like to give him points for the techniques he uses and his physical prowess but in reality he probably just does basic physical training and its easy for him to do acrobatic feats because he can basically propell himself off the ground the same way a firework does. His technique probably also come from basic physics knowledge i.e Newtons Laws and Centrifugal forces which he memorized for his grades to as I said earlier be the best.

      Bakugou is still a genius no matter what yo say. if you read the manga, his test scores were the third best in the class, only behind Iida and Yaoyorozu. In his fight with Todoroki, he specifically lead himself to be countered in order to force Shoto to use his left side, which he hadn't yet used on anyone except Midoriya. Bakugou is highly intelligent and very skilled, much like Vegeta, however he is too prideful to rely on anyone else for help, which seemingly undermines his intelligence, ALSO much like Vegeta.

    I was gonna complain and say that bakugou worked really hard to get were he is, but then I remembered it was just the first season where deku was like the only Person that really improved
    Also bakugou is extremely smart though he doesn’t show it he is extremely smart when it comes to fights and is in the top 3 students of the class
