We live in a Representative Democracy; i.e., we vote for representatives (President, Senators, House of Representatives) who we believe will support our wishes.
The majority of our population agrees more with Mayor Pete’s position than with President Trump’s (remember, 3M more individuals voted for Hillary last time-that’s a majority) so what you and others like you are implying is a “different system of government” (totalitarianism, fascism, rule by oligarchy? What?) which is unpatriotic at its worst and highly uninformed at its best.

Free college for everyone. Tens of trillions in green energy investments. Medicare for all might be great but getting there means not everyone wants to give up their private plans. Ask seniors how f*cked up medicare is and how many doctors refuse to take medicare patients because they don't get paid. Bernie never adequately explained how to fund his grandiose platform.

It is our current system which is "bananas", being charged outrageous prices for insurance, and still being charged more or not being covered when we need care. The only thing I can figure is that you are too narrow minded to understand that just because things are a certain way in the USA currently, doesn't mean its that way everywhere, or that it need be that way. Our healthcare system is a disaster, but I don't assume you are able to be moved in your position. I can only hope beyond hope that someday soon you and your ilk go the way of the dinosaurs because otherwise we will only see a further subjugation of the working people of this country as we accelerate towards an unlivable climate, geopolitical upheaval, massive unrest, and likely annihilation.
