From what I can tell this isn’t really the norm in the US and maybe more common in certain European countries. I always was under the impression that UK journalism on average was pretty unbiased/neutral and factual (excluding maybe some outlets), I wonder how you would rate UK journalism compared to US?

@@Wizz15 hi Wizz, in the UK we don't tend to have this sort of lengthy storytelling presentation. In most cases the news is presented in short bites within a general news programme. The full story would perhaps be presented in a separate documentary with no bias. I am generalising of course! I find the US news presenters to be quiet excitable compared to the UK. Best wishes 👋

Often no defense is a valid defense in court cases. The defense is never legally obligated to prove anything and defence lawyers have won many cases without calling a single witness. If they feel the prosecution hasn't proven their case, they may not want to give the prosecution a shot at scoring points on cross examining their own witnesses. Of course this tactic demands that the defense has scored major hits from cross examining prosecution witnesses. In some jurisdictions throughout western democracy, the defense is also given the advantage of presenting their closing argument after the prosecution should they elect not to call any witnesses. The advantage here of course is that the jury typically retains more of the final argument when they go into deliberations.

Ever since 2016 it's been almost daily outrages and drama, and I and many others - including professional talking heads and scholars are still saying "I don't understand how to so many people truly believe Trump is America's best. My hypothesis is that it is due to poor education - people have been complaining since I was in high school in the 60s that civics is neglected. And *then* education was dumbed down. The economic squeeze on the working class, the end of the post WWII economic safety nets beginning in the Reagan-Thatcher years. That is, the backlash from the power elite. And the global proliferation of autocrats under such conditions. Certainly am hoping for a verdict, "We the jury find the defendant accountable."

I’ve been on a jury a couple of times, and by far the most important aspect of the trials was the judge’s guidance to the jury.
