Did you have to modify the compressor and turbine housings for the wheels?
The compressor wheel fit perfect, the turbine hole had some surface rust which caused it to hit but I ported it with a circular sandpaper kit you get from harbor freight that attaches to a drill, fairly easy rebuild and worth every bit of the $270-$300 the kit cost.
Lovely I love the way your truck sounds and would like the same. Do you have links? Or which wheels you got?
prosourcediesel.com/shop/brand/spoologic/spoologic-gt3788va-turbo-rebuild-kit-with-billet-turbine-shaft-gasket-for-04-5-05-lly-duramax/ is the kit I used and it was very easy to rebuild. I did the rebuild when I did the new head gaskets and studs from the tracktech rebuild kit they sell on that site.
Sounds good!
Thanks!
about to do headstuds on my lml, are tracktech head studs worth a damn? all im seeing for arp is like $615+, but the track techs are only $300
I think the set is well worth it, I bought the tracktech top end rebuild kit from prosourcediesel.com along with the 10 blade turbo rebuild kit and it definitely woke this truck up. I know the whole kit is pricey (around $900) but its the best bang for your buck compared to ARP
@locomotives4105 thanks for the info, eventually imma do a full rebuild on my truck, but at 416k I'm expecting my engine to go out first even though she rumbles like new.
I had a head gasket and freeze plug failure so I had no choice but to rebuild everything, relapping the valves and the upgraded turbo really made this thing sound deeper, has a nice heart thumping idle now. Had to do a few chores around the house to keep the wife happy but hey, the truck sounds great haha.
People pulling out like jackasses
