I exported my animation, and even though I set it in 1080p, it exported in 240p and had a black border around the stage (Edit: I exported it in a MPEG4 format, if that helps)

You might have something wrong on the first menu. Basically with duration. Check whether you have selected to export the whole animation or just a certain time/scene or something shorter.

Did you try selecting "match source - high bitrate" instead of a "1080" preset? Once you do that, then click on the "match source - high bitrate" link (in blue) to verify the dimensions under the summary section. Let me know if that works? (sorry for the late reply)

It is another program that you can get from Adobe Creative Cloud. It is needed in order to export a video from Animate. You can also export this way ua-cam.com/video/1tPatNtzx-o/v-deo.html but will need Photoshop or Premiere Pro as well.

Make sure export quality is 1080p or 4k for .mp4. Use Quicktime/.Mov for better quality. Is this what you did?

What fps is your timeline? Sometimes that can happen if timeline is 24 and music/audio is 30 for example.
