I've hiked and backpacked and did snowshoeing in many parts of the San Gabriel mountains but your back country skiing makes one see it in another dimension. Beautiful winter landscape and the thrill of cold weather adventure. Enjoyed your video !!
@@bds9203 see 12:59 the north face of Mount San Antonio aka "Mount Baldy". We began the traverse by skiing down Baldy's north face, and for much of the rest of it, the north face pops in and out of view
Was the North Backbone filled in with the snow? If so, how dangerous was it with the possible slough or cornice on the backbone breaking off potential?
Of course I envisioned that it would be a multiday outing and you knocked it off in 1 day. Thanks for sharing your talent with the camera and the ski with us mere mortals who can only wish we were as blessed as you to be able to enjoy such adventure.
Ive always said the same thing… The Sierra, as jaw dropping and incredible as they are. They’re just that. On the other hand, those San Gabriel’s… If you know, you know!
What an epic adventure with so much elevation gain and loss. I think that you need to take more food (and water), as I was getting anxious watching you eat just that bag of Cheetos, and I've seen some of your past trip reports (e.g. Olancha Peak).
Nice job Andy! I have had this one on my list for a couple of years; however, I wanted to end up at Mtn High Resort. Essentially a Baldy Ski lifts to Mtn High ski lifts traverse.
Everytime I going skiing at Mountain High, I look up at Wright Mountain and think about how fun skiing that bowl would be. I was told it was formed by a mudslide in the 60's.
Cheetos are indeed a touring delicacy. I didn't have a pavlovian response to any of the skiing - but those cheetos made me instantly hungry for nasty, orange cheese dust. Another impressive sojourn into the wild - thanks as always for sharing.
What an epic video! So much snow in those mountains this year. Wish some group of billionaires would build a world-class resort all the way to Baldy's summit. Lots of potential there.

Amazing!! Love the San Gabriel Mountains specifically in winter, thank you for sharing!
That’s crazy- climbing Baldy is hard enough. Well done!!
crazy--but in a good way :)
This video deserves way more views than 3300 after a year. Loved the views, especially the north face of Baldy from Pine.
def one of the most inspiring sights in the range!
Bro why do I keep hearing north face of baldy, what is that?

This is badass!

Quite the playground, North face of Baldy looking hauntingly beautiful - amazing link up!
That shot of Baldy from Pine Mountain is just jaw-dropping -- one of the great views in California!
@@AndyLewicky That NE line off the summit into SF is on the checklist for this amazing season. Big time corn harvest.
@@AndyLewicky Almost looks like Alaska or something

Nice one!
Great views ... I camped out on Dawson Peak once.
I also have a Hwy 2 sticker on my ski. 😎

march
@@AndyLewicky oh okay thanks
I have wondered if I could do what you guys just did..That was a great adventure you guys did.
You guys are second to none!

We are so lucky to have them! :)
Your antics are legendary IB. Love your videos.
@@johnfracisco77 thanks, just a guy trying score 🤙
Been thinking of doing this for a few years as well....awesome!

I did take more than Cheetos. But the Cheetos tasted the best :)
Fantastic Southern CaLifornia !

We would highly recommend that alternative. Thought the Wright Mountain route would be easier, but in hindsight, MHE would be a much better exit. :)

It’s so beautiful when it’s full of snow
The San Gabriels are absolutely incredible -- with or without snow. :)
Love it, always great vids!
How incredibly epic to sign up top buried like that.

next time I'm bringing a Pepsi to go with it :)
Can says 12oz but they always feel heavier… ;)
Extraordinary! Congrats you two & and thanks for bringing us along for the ride
Hey man, can I ski with you? Also, looking for some Beta on Tyndall, how was it?
Tyndall in general? I haven't been up there in a while :)
Was this Sunday the 26th? Think I must've seen you at the trailhead! That was a beautiful day
Yes, this past Sunday. We were not fans of the wind, but it sure made for good photography :)

kinda feel like the san gabriel mountains are a little too intense to build a resort
@@secretPENGUIN69 seen plenty of extraordinary terrain in Europe including massive glaciers complete with crevasses that get turned into resorts.
The snow is not consistent enough to warent it but it would be super sick. Big line skiing in so cal!!!@@387Dan
Beautiful, how long did it take?
it took us right around 10 hrs
