Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness is NOT canon! Here's why (part 1)

- It's pretty sad that I have to make a video for this but... here you go. Not everything in the KFP franchise was canon. It can't be and here I talk about one in particular, showing much evidence and many valid points why the show is not fact.
Get yer points here, but still really really like this show. The movies may technically be better but still really enjoyed LOA and was frequently impressed by many of its episodes, at least imo.
In fact, I think it's all the better that the Show ISN'T cannon. After all, it is called "legends" of awesomeness.

I like to think the show is a fun way to explore different timelines after kung fu panda 1
Like the movies and specials and LoA all stem from Kung fu panda 1, but then bridge off into there own timelines. (Like alternate realities)
But see i watched this as a kid, and loved it. So im probably biased
But explaining this as an alternate timeline from the main movie continuity could still work if it all occurs after kung fu panda 1
Yes, exactly! How to think of it as alternate reality myself I got this theory mainly cuz I watch The flash a lot so I know a little bit about alternate universes and doppelgangers.
Yeah it makes more sense as an alternate timeline. And if you go and ask po in the second movie if he remembers Lu Shi he wouldn't know what you're talkin about cause of this alternate reality. It didn't happen so he wouldn't know of it.
Here’s another reason why LOA isn’t canon. In the holiday special, Shifu said that he chose to leave his family while in LOA, it is shown that his father abandoned him.

I recommend doing a rewatch because in the Kippa episodes, we are told twice that they moved all the stuff. Besides, nowhere does it say that Kai was the first to destroy the palace, just your far-fetched theory.
I'm pretty sure I saw a episode where they showed there friends ship and teamwork.
The music I used was from ip man 2 and 3. Kung fu panda sound tracks and some freestyle kung fu music. So credit to the respect composers!
Why not 1?
One of the times I hated po the most in that show was the episode where he met that guy named Chang who claimed to be the dragon warrior and gave lessons in the town so po tries to show he isn’t the dragon warrior. Now, if the reason po tried to stop Chang was because he thought he was trying to con the villagers out of their money, I would have been fine with it but the reason po tried to stop him was because he was jealous that he wasn’t getting the attention which is not how Canon po would have reacted to it, and even after he learns why he lied, he shows no remorse about it and still talks about how much cooler he is than chang. Also, another thing is that with that episode enter the dragon, po learned to stop being an egotistical jerk, but after that episode he went back to being an egotistical jerk. Also, a contradiction in that episode is that they say that episode takes place after Kung fu panda 2 but in the episode, po has an action figure made of him only in that episode despite the fact that po action figures were shown in Kung fu panda 2.
And Kung Fu Panda 4 might even ad to this.

I only included the Film Trilogy, Shorts and Series. I don't know about the videogames. I haven't watch all the episodes of LoA but it did feel different from the main canon. I never seen Paws of Destiny it looks to childish to me. Yeah Jake Black as a fighting Panda with Kung Fu Fighting as the theme song made by DreamWorks (a extremely childish company) and I and criticising it for being childish when you watch the main film trilogy and the shorts it is serious with comedy but mostly serious. LoA is weird.
I don't want a 4th film because the 3rd is just the best ending for the series. It will feel like Shrek and Madagascar at that point.
Also I would like to point out that judt because it was supposed to take place between the films doesn't make it canon. A lot of series have done this but they aren't canon this point was mentioned in this video actually or similar to it. This video has covered most of the points and I can't see Po and Tigress acting the way they do from LoA in the films. It's like they switch character from the film to the series. That's not logical. C'mon. Too many plot holes.

You can make a series and set it in place if events of its source material but still have it non cannon to make stories that don't affect it . So do you have a statement
@@nonameneeded2943 They mentioned Lord Shen from Kung Fu Panda 2 in Enter the Dragon. They mentioned Tai Lung in the episode of Rhino's Revenge. They again referenced Tai Lung in the episode of Kung Fu Club. They make references to the events of the movies briefly in other episodes. As well as Dreamworks saying it is canon on their facebook pages. Plus its literally made by the same people
@@reggielacey2235 once again, you can make something set between events of its source material and still have it not cannon. There are anime movies that are set after events and make references to events in their Canon but are still non Canon movies.

@@reggielacey2235 only canon to anime because its different continuity to the manga. same with this kung fu panda movies and some specials are main continuity and thios show if you want it depens on a person is a separate timeline. not part of movies

Tipo Fan 4 Life also I think there is a difference between chi that kai wanted and the regular chi that ke-pa wanted and it was the hero’s chi which is basically their life force and the regular chi was basically spirit or something making life
Or it could be lazy writing and maybe someone botched the timeline or a breakdown between the writers of the show and the movies

Nah I don't think so it's still chi and Po would have known. Po would have mentioned hero chi and shifu would have said no this is something else but he didn't. Thanks for the input but I'm sticking to the point here 😁
Also the show tries to tell us that the reason oogway built the jade place is because to keep the demons away but in the movies it doesn't really say why and even if that was the case I don't think that is why he did it. Plus in loa we are told that oogway had trained the first five and that one of them became bad this just shows that none of this was ever canon plus nice video some good points.

Nah I don't think so. A lot of it is too weird to think it happened like one guy said. I'm gonna make a part 2 to this at some point. But as I've said before if there's too many contradictions that thing can't be canon that's just a fact. 😉
Hey man I also saw your comment and discussion but I don't know how to reply to it so I'm going to apply here. They're not going to put Mei Mei and po together okay. that plot was scratched a long time ago there was more chemistry and a possible relationship between Po and Tigress can with anyone else so po and Mei mei are not going to get together
In retrospect this show had so much potential because of its concept; but thank goodness that garbage isn't canon! Good job on putting this video together!

Here is another reason. (and by the way this is more of just a plot hole with the show but still, it contradicts the movies so it is a reason.) In the movies they said that shifu found tai lung in front of the jade palace as a baby. That means that no one knew who tai lungs true family was, so how did po know that peng was related to tai lung, and how did peng know that in the first place if tai lung didn’t know who his family was?
I've heard this point before actually and yeah kind of makes sense
Actually in the end of the episode The Kung Fu Kid, Peng said his Uncle was Tai Lung
But how did he even know?
@@henith7850 maybe tai lung's original family had sensed that their son would turn evil and perhaps tai lung had a brother or sister who knew him
But tai Kung was raised by shifu and he is the one that Probably named him, so how would the family know that tai lung was related to peng? Are there just no other snow leopards in the LOA canon.

I'm not gonna lie though I still prefer the show over kung fu panda 2 and 3. Of course I love the 1st movie as much as the show. I always felt like KFP 2 and 3 was making Po more dumb and goofy which makes Po don't take certain situations seriously. Po from legends of awesomeness knew sometimes he has to take certain situations little more seriously and can actually make smart decisions.
The movies didn't do much to give Tigress more personality except just being tough which makes her a bland character.
I was never really a fan of Po and Tigress getting together because in the movies Tigress is a dick to Po so it was a good idea they have them just be friends.
I say he did good for pointing the differences of what was in the show and the movies. It would make more since as an alternate timeline but I prefer KFP 1 and Legend of Awesomeness. KFP 2 and 3 wasn't good as the 1st movie.
This is how I judge what is canon in the Kung fu panda franchise. If jack black voices po, then it is canon. So that includes the movies and specials like the holiday one, or secrets of the masters and stuff like that.

Some excellent points here. I don't completely hate the TV show but it had so many flaws and plot holes. I especially hated what they did with the characters. Especially Tigress and Crane. In fact the only characters who's personalities remain mostly the same are Viper and Mr. Ping.
P.S I came up with the name Craniac before I heard it in the show.
Eh I agree with the first part but Mr ping put his own business ahead of his son several times and he never did that in the movies

@@comicbookking3446 First off he is depicted as being a complete and utter joke especially in the episode with his mother they making him overly obsessed with cleanliness, making him an absolute know it all at times, they make him seem like a very boring character by making him tell really boring stories at times, he is often regarded as the weakest of the five, they make him often times very un-confident even though he gained his confidence in Secrets Of The Furious Five. A more minor difference but still a pet peeve is he uses his wings like hands in the show which not only looks stupid but makes zero sense.

It also seemed as though the power levels in that show were way off. In an episode it showed Po easily besting Tigress, which wasn't the case in the movies. It also showed him as having way more agility and strength than what he should have, considering he is a panda that never did strength training, and in the movies it constantly showed how out of shape Po was.
Have any of you noticed that the characters are a lot weaker than in the movies.

@@victor2641 Yeah but look at tigress for example, her kung fu is not a good as in the movies and not to mention in one episode called the orbs of master ding she is fighting po at the beginning of the episode and he is winning. In the movies po can't beat tigress, for example in the jail scene in the second movie po struggles to keep up with her yet alone get past her. So for me personally I see tigress in the movies as more of a skilled master that has trained for 20 years and has gone toe to toe against kai, tai lung and has managed to land a few powerful hits even though they both are stronger than she is. where's in the show she is more of a beginner like po probably less skilled than he was in the first film after he learns kung because there are times in the show when they can't fight off bandits not to mention this version of her never does anything cool like stop arrows in the second movie in gonmen city when shen tells his henchmen to fire those arrows or like how she kicked kai in Kung-fu panda 3 and also faced off against the jade zombies with no effort and she also showed her skill at one point when she had a panda child and she was trying to protect the child while fighting off one of kai's henchmen. But In the show in one episode they go up against these wolves and lose. In the other episode enter the dragon we can see that the five are no match for the dragon not even tigress and I am not saying that the movie versions of them would have won against him but I am saying that they would have had a better shot against him. Yet the movie counter parts have faced threats like tai lung and kai and yes they didn't beat kai or tai lung but they had shown their true potential compared to the TV show.

That not what I seen she very much gave effort.
Plus with the bandits eh the croc bandits I saw caught her off gaurd with the chains, and the wolves didn't see the episode but what I look up is the wolves were trained from birth so that could be why they may have lost but eh.
And also didn't do anything as cool what about the part she jump one of one of temutai henchmen and broke his horn scene when they first met, but overall I may not have seen most episode but there are some where they have there moments and some where they don't but hey it was still quite entertaining.

@@victor2641 Po can beat Tigress lol. He literally fodderize Lung. Lung couldn't even really land damage. Meanwhile, Lung beat the Five alone, and on a bridge. He's at a massive disadvantage, yet beats all of them. He then goes on to beat Shifu as well. In terms of Kai, Tigress was the strongest of the Five and better than Shifu by Panda 3. She actually manages to stun Kai for a second. The issue is that Kai is a slow long ranged fighter battle on the low ground against multiple opponents. He had to use his Jade zombies to level the playing field. Kai was also caught incredibly off guard by her attack as he literally kicked her out of the fight only for her to jump back in out of nowhere. Either way, once he removed 4 of the Five members, it was pretty much over. Even if Tigress wasn't caught of guard at the end by Shhifu, she would have lost that 1v1. Even Shifu knew it. How do we know? Shifu literally stops her and tells her to get Po, implying Po has the best chance of beating Kai. Po also has access to Chi as well as spirit world sealing. Loa also shows Po is stronger than Tigress. Buen trabajo tiene sentido lo que dices , aunque admito que me duele algo que no sea canon porque hay bastante momentos tipo x'd , pero a la vez creo que es mejor que la serie no sea canon ya que como tu dices el comportamiento de tigresa y Po son muy diferente a las películas , varias cosas no tienen sentido , no me agradaba este Po egoísta y algo creído de la serie cuando el no es así ( se vuelve algo patán con tigresa presumiendo sus habilidades , lo peor es que volvieron a tigresa muy debil a comparación de Po , cuando ella es una gran guerrera que si le hace pelea a Po ) , en la primera película tigresa ya le tenía respeto a Po pero no le agradaba del todo eso se entiende ya que recién se conocían , tigresa mayormente es seria y algo enojona ( como en la serie pero exageraron ) , no muestra mucho de sus sentimientos PERO cuando Po entra en su vida y establecen con el tiempo un gran cariño el uno por el otro , se vuelve más abierta , más alegre , le hace conocer una gran amistad profunda , MÁS QUE LOS 4 FURIOSOS y eso es sorprendente , en resumen hace que tigresa sea ella misma y los resultados se ve en la segunda película de kfp.
Podrían hacer canon las mismas películas algunas cosas de la serie o inspirarse , pero si hasta ahora no dicen de que la serie es canon , se sobreentiende de que no sea canon como lo demuestras en este gran análisis. TOMA TU LIKE BUEN HOMBRE 😙👍👏

D : Por ahí he visto teorías de que puede ser que en esta cuarta entrega trate de tigresa , y hay un dato de que al parecer en 2022 es el año del tigre y SERIA GENIAL QUE SE ESTRENARA ESE AÑO :D , lamentablemente la espera sería larga pero valdría la pena si se hace canon el Tipo (mi corazón shipper ataca de nuevo sorry not sorry :v) y que yo sepa a la mayoría le gusta este shipp uwu
