ABBA was genius in writing upbeat sad songs. The went through their marriages and divorces but never stopped creating.
Another great upbeat sad song is Chiquitica.
This is a masterpiece. Another ABBA favorite is The Name of the Game. Also very relatable. Both girls have wonderful solo parts highlighting their individual capacities.
ABBA made up of their initials - Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn, and Anni-Frid pronounced as one word not separate letters.
It’s been almost 50 years since I first heard them! All this time I never knew those were the initials of there names. Just never paid attention!

Great song and reaction. Nice to see a new generation appreciate ABBAs (pronounced ahhh-bahhh) music. They were huge in the 70s and 80s and have sold over 400 million records. Only the Beatles have sold more. ABBA comes from the initials in their first names

They were 2 married couples from Sweden. Agnetha the blond married Bjorn the guitarist and Annifrid aka Frida or Annie the red haired woman married Benny the pianist (the one with the beard) try a fun disco song of theirs to make you dance called "if it wasn't for the nights" the one from japanese tv in 1978 is best. Also " the name of the game" the men wrote all their songs and could play most any instrument. The woman both had fabulous voices but together They harmonized like no other.
After all these years I never knew that was just an acronym for there first names!! Just never paid attention! Their first hit Waterloo came after I graduated HS! 74’

Hello from Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺🌏. Interesting fact that ABBA won the Eurovision song contest in 1974 with the song Waterloo. Some of the biggest stars have completed in the content including Celine Dion, Olivia Newton John and Cliff Richard.

They had to put up with a lot of hatred in their home country. They were seen as some sort of sell-outs in the political climate that prevailed at the time. Then when people started listening, they turned out to be the most talented and humble musicians.
