Well, more like, they're stuck making games like they made Oblivion and Skyrim. Literally on the same engine. So they had their peak, Skyrim, then downhill from there due to no innovation, no change except downhill. That and the writing is just beyond terrible now.
I remember when I got my GFs dad into ES. He was a huge DnD nerd. Let him borrow Oblivion, he loved it. Dumped 100 hours into in a week. A week before Skyrim came out. He got it day 1, dumped another 100 hours into it. I watched him play one day and asked him " why aren't you sprinting?" He played the whole time without sprint. Jump to 3 years later, as my AP drained the very first time in Fallout 4, I remember my ex's dad, I thought about Skyrim....and I had the same epiphany... Is this just fucking Skyrim again?
Sadly, this is true. I consider Morrowind the best game ever, but I no longer believe that Bethesda is able to make at least something on a Skyrim level.
@@AVM26 That's because most of the people who worked on Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 have left and moved on. By the time Skyrim came out fans were already complaining about the dumbed down RPG choices and bad writing and it only got worse with Fallout 4.
The thing about lying is that "it just works" after making a handful of great games in a short span of time. They're gonna milk lying until it stops working.
Did you not read one of the recent interviews Emil gave? Starfield is a bold new IP that is "different" than all of their other games and maybe not everyones cup of tea but it might be the "best game they ever made". Yes they not only think this is acceptable they think this is "the best game they ever made".
Lol..the best they ever made...its like comparing seattle art institute to art center college of design. I have been playing starfield for a few months..its a boring bland underdeveloped glitchy mess
How can they think its diffrent? Its exactly like elder scrolls and Fallout just with a diffrent setting. If they would Release games faster we would compare them to Ubisoft with their always same Design
The Elder Scrolls is my favourite game franchise and I don't even want TES 6 anymore. Bethesda don't deserve it. I would rather have a novel or something, exploring the next war with The Thalmor.
I still have faith in elder scrolls 6, mainly because they aren’t going to be doing the whole stupid hundreds of explorable planets. It’s going to be one zone, unless they add more via dlc. Now… if they screw up ES6, yea… I’m definitely done. At that point I’ll just stick to Oblivion and Skyrim like I always do.
I just play morrowind with 130+ mods once a year and new vegas with like 40 mods once a year. Occasionally I'll also play Oblivion with like 70 mods. I never finished skyrim because the magic was nerfed and spellcrafting removed so it was boring.
The reason Bethsoft has good lore and worldbuilding was because their Elder Scrolls lore is 30 years old and their Fallout Lore was bought from a more competent company. They can't worldbuild for sh** either.
TES lore is good, because it is mostly taken off Dungeons and Dragons and hoards of old games and movies in fact, Ted Peterson admits all of this. Sometimes it's better to just re-use a good idea, than individually come up with your own crap idea, lol. Modern Bethesda are trying to come up with their own stuff, and it just doesn't work, despite what Todd and Emil say.
People praising Todd always struck me as strange. "Todd said 30fps is more than good enough and its true, there is barely any difference between 30 and 60 fps" How are people like this? And why do they trust Todd? Hes a hack
it's mostly the remains of the cult of Toddtards, a splinter from Tzeentch worshippers. Even the dimmest amongst them have slowly realized the flaws of their god.
Honestly I think its kind of like a cult leader effect. I can't remember which video it was or from who but I remember that the person in ti was reviewing a Bethesda game (Or the studio in General) and they showed a clip of the guy talking in an interview I think. And the dude is kinda charming and like able. The way he talks can Immediatly endear you to him in a way where you would never guess he was the guy behind the dumpster fire that is Bethesda.
30 fps is so choppy and noticeable, 60 is the sweet spot, as i notice nothing after 60 fps. maybe if you where a pro fps guy where every frame matters ,,, buttt, thats like 0.1% of anyone so you dont need anything past 60... going from 30 to 60 is very noticeable tho. you can push it to 90 if you really want but 60 is just the sweet spot (for me anyways i notice nothing at 90, but some people do). and you dont need shit at 4k lmao, 1080p is good enough all be it can be a liiiilll almost unnoticeable, bit of blur, can go to the next step from there if you want, but you dont need anything higher pretty much. unless your one of those guys that wants the newest and best most powerful thing just for bragging... but you really dont need that much power... exept ram.... oh my god im at 16 gb of ram and like everything on my computer eats that s**t and lags tf out of my computer. so id go for 32 gb of ram. just to have spare ram to use, and things dont lag me out because they want to used 60% of my ram to run a f**king update.
Wait what? Phhhffffft, 30 FPS is very noticeable. For one at 30 FPS any sort of frame drop even temporary results in immediate stutter and chop. 30 FPS literally equates to moving slower in Creation Engine games this is proven AND scripting IS tied to FPS going Fallout 4 and back, not sure about the newer titles. In other words, if you believe in Bethesda's case that 30 FPS is fine well you been gaslit bro an you didnt even know better but I have spent too much time working on mods for Bethesda titles an I know better.
@@twistedtxbthat's the thing they are profitable, Starfield like it or not sold well their paid mods and micro transactions in FO76 sell well, unless their customers stop the nonsense they'll never crumble and change course.
Yea, lol, I hope he takes this to heard if he sees it cause too many content creators that review games have to dial back, likely cause they got a paycheck from a dev and i get it, but if that ain't happening, freedom to go ham should be encouraged, even if sometimes the fanbase goes against them (SOTE's case - and I actually liked that way more than him, but still agreed with many of his critiques cause I thought that if they'd be implemented, future From cames would be better).
Honestly. Starfield on paper just plain sounds boring. A semi-grounded sci-fi game without any aliens or crazy space tech? The same repeating interior cells across various worlds with the exact same biomes? Precious little enemy variety besides normal people and mutant animals? Bethesda had years to rip off No Man's Sky and couldn't even manage that!
Well can you imagine how many more years it would take them to handcraft each biome of the planet considering how massive one planet is than times that by a thousand @@silverblade357
Based on their energy weapons and base-game lore, I expected a completely different, highly advanced, unrecognizable society after 200 years of isolation. Why does it feel like every POI building across the galaxy? Same desks, same doors, same switches, same locks, same computers, same _walls!_ WTF?
As long as they give me NPC's that won't turn around to look at me (I'm scared of faces) I will be happy. Starfield is an excellent game. Just so many beautiful NPC's to look at, I hope they keep this for E-Scrolls the Sixth.
In a world after new vegas, we got skyrim, in a world after witcher 2 we got fallout 4, in a world after cyberpunk 2077 and witcher 3 we got starfield, in a world after baldurs gate...
Lmao same. And the kicker is that the XTX I got was a dud but I still redeemed the code before returning at Microcenter for a 4080. God bless Microcenter Played Slopfield for a couple hours and uninstalled. The last game I got with a GPU? 1070ti. Monster Hunter World. Fucking hell.
@@LordWallace I was 40 hours in before I decided it just wasn't worth my time anymore. I almost quit less than 10 hours in but gave it the benefit of the doubt as I had a lot of time to waste anyway. Yeah got it with either a motherboard or CPU upgrade last year, cant remember. Either way, I don't feel ripped off, but there is no way I would have bought it off the shelf. It's the kind of game that needs to be attached to a real purchase.
Sadly Bethesda doesnt see these problems. They are spreading their toxic positivity in recent interviews. They believe Starfield is their best game and that they are going in the right direction with their games.
Wild. Your description if the dlc and its scale sounds like something you’d get from like a 20 dollar community added quest line, but instead it’s a mainline dlc that costs 75% of the price of Skyrim… Baffling, insulting, and confusing are all great descriptions for this affront to common sense
Guys like Todd and Emil take the talent of their collegues and underlings for granted. They're just doing what they've always done and are genuinely confused that this would be different than Far Harbor.
8:00 I know the answer: *Bethesda's dialog is inconsequential.* Let's compare Veronica from New Vegas to basically any FO4 or Starfield companion ever. Veronica has a good bit of dialog you can click through if you're curious when you first meet her. After that, she'll be dead silent for a long time, only occasionally chirping up about something. When she does, you can either get more details from her via dialog, or ignore her and that's fine too. Eventually she will approach you with a quest, and Veronica basically has *three things on offer to the player in this moment:* 1) You can get to know Veronica better 2) You can meet the Brotherhood of Steel, and all the opportunities that come with this 3) You get quest content and something to do You have a narrative motivation to talk to her, a path that will undoubtedly unlock more content, and the potential for practical rewards via EXP and gear. Immediately, this is how Veronica piques your interest and gets you engaged in her dialog. The dialog then also offers choices for you to make, making the player's input feel valued and affecting the outcome/rewards/punishments for the player. *Now look at the standard FO4 and Starfield companions* You're marching across the lifeless landscape, when all of a sudden, your companion wants to stop to chat. You groan, because you know what's coming: *tell, don't show.* The companion likely has absolutely nothing to offer you in terms of tangible, practical rewards, if you're LUCKY they will give you a quest that is no more valuable than any other quest since some genius decided to randomize all loot, and the companion is simply going to randomly exposition dump on you about how they grew up on their grandpa's farm when they were a kid. Nothing about this conversation has any affect on the story, it's a case of telling rather than showing which is a much worse method of introducing you to the character, and you do not even have a practical reward waiting for you if you put up with it. It's, IMO, made worse by how the companions tend to verbally blow you and tell you how you're God's gift to man for hearing them out, which always just seems incredibly pandering from Bethesda, as if they think you're a narcissistic idiot. *TL;DR* you gain absolutely nothing of value from the standard Bethesda conversation. Neither in a practical, gameplay sense, nor or in a narrative manner. The stories are bad and pointless and do nothing for world-building, so you're free to snooze through your companion's monologue for example and nothing of value will be lost. And quite frankly: sometimes it feels like they were given a "write two pages of dialog" assignment by Todd, so sometimes they even shoehorn in worthless back and forths that do nothing but waste time. Bethesda basically doesn't understand the purpose or appeal of dialog themselves, so they end up bombarding us with pointless crap that they THINK we'll like.
The best part is killing a random NPC and having them go “my god you’re terrible, I can’t believe you!” And then you apologize once and they totally forgive you. But if you look at NV, kill too many NCR around Boone and he’ll attack you, kill too many BOS around Veronica she swears to never talk to you again and ACTUALLY leaves. In a game about multiverse bull crap you’d think they’d have funny consequences for every little interaction because the whole POINT of the game is to “reset” and find something new 🤦
Bethesda promised us a thousand worlds and instead gave us a handful of POIs copy and pasted thousands of times. The only thing that they did right was ship design, and even that was shit before the modders got a hold of it. Bethesda spit in everyone's face with starfield. And they did it again with shattered space. This game is a massive disappointment and an abomination to the gaming industry.
I think your absolutely on point, "Everyone agrees on why Starfield is bad, Except for the people who need to hear it". Its not hate its our love of Bethesda that makes this crap so disappointing.
Well, there are desperate shills around these parts shouting everything from "Xbox has more players" to "user scores are meaningless" and even "you are not a real fan, real fans will love it". Whatever copium they snorted, it gave them brain tumors so large he level of delulu is unhinged.
Dont talk for everyone because you don't represent everyone. Many many people like me are playing the game and are very happy with it. It's the best Bethesda game they ever made that's not wrong. I can guarantee i have played more bethesda games than you over the past 15+ years. Their games have their own flavour of jank and it's part of their formula. They talked about it back in the days of Oblivion launch. What they said then is still the same today since they literally make the same type of game. Internet trolls go around saying things like "EVERYONE hates it", NO THEY DONT. That's a you problem. Not everyone likes everything and every version will be for you. Starfield was never going to be Cyberpunk, Bethesda do not know how to make a game of that style but what they made is one of the best games they can make with the skills that they have. For some reason the internet seems to run on expectations' now and I've been here since before there were browsers. So assuming "crap" is just a you opinion and not FACT.
@@RogerJoseph And the fact is, old fans have abandoned the game too. I failed to see it breaking grounds instead going the Ubisoft route. And no Emil, YOU pretending to like it won't save the game.
@@RogerJoseph Just so we're clear, your positive take on the game is just YOUR opinion and doesn't represent everyone. Not everyone has stockholm syndrome from years of tolerating bethesda's oversights and poor choices. Most people have been playing other games. Excellent games. Games that are much better than starfield. That's why their opinion is different than yours. They represent people with taste.
I technically already own this DLC because my dumbass bought the Deluxe Edition and still I can not be bothered to re-download let alone play this game again.
@@FoulPet I think there are very few games that deserve a preorder, ones that you would buy on day 1 anyway. I haven't preordered Monster Hunter Wilds yet, but I think I will closer to release date Meanwhile, those majority games I am somewhat interested in are sitting in a text document until I feel it's clear to check out. Glad I didn't pick up Star Wars Outlaws lol. AC Shadows was also sat in that list, time to delete it
@babytiny5807 I've rarely regretted pre-orders, but in todays world of mediocrity, cash shops, woke, and cash grabs, I've decided to play it safe and so far its saved me multiple times.
@@FoulPet Hopefully that era of games comes to an end soon. They all drop like flies as soon as they come out (Concord was such a massive flop it surely must have sent a message) Anyway, back to BG3
When you had the option to side with Elijah at the end of Dead Money, even though it was obviously the most evil thing to do that would result in mass destruction, they at least gave you an ending slideshow about it before reloading to a previous save to continue the correct way. Bethesda couldn't even do that.
And then, since Bethesda didn't like that a NV DLC had that bad ending, they went and specifically forbade Obsidian from making another bad ending for the Old World Blues DLC.
@@Risewild What was even the point of giving the player the option to side with the bad guy then??? Just make the choice be between persuading him to stand down or putting him down like Ol' Yeller if the player's not allowed to be outright evil.
What breaks me is no new parts for ship building. I love building ships so I don't mind credits as quest rewards because I burn them fast. And knowing House Va'ruun is separated from the rest of civilization, they should have their own spaceship design and innovations. But no because Bethesda doesn't add them. Sad.
@@RogerJoseph No, it still looks really bad. There are good looking games that a 4090 could emulate like RDR2 or Cyberpunk 2077. Starfield at 4k looks like an upscaled Fallout 4... because its the creation engine and everything looks like lumpy clay.
"He lied and you were disappointed". You know what's MORE disappointing? That anyone believed the lie for the umpteenth time. What's disappointing is people STILL saying, you "just don't understand what's going on". Making money off dumb people. That's what's going on. They know you will buy it regardless, so they don't have to deliver. Forget what's wrong with Bethesda, wtf is wrong with gamers at this point? Stop acting surprised that these products are half baked cash grabs. Bethesda isn't going to change their business model for you. Get over it and either stop complaining or stop consuming the product in question ffs. Rule number ONE of consumerism: Product will ONLY EVER be what people are WILLING to pay for. You paid for this DLC. Expect a next one, and expect it to be no better. Because your 30 bucks is the ONLY green light a studio needs for the next cash grab. It's like the south park episode where Cartman keeps farting in Kyle's face. They keep saying "oh, no brah, the next one will be everything you want" and laugh, knowing you'll fall for it. Look forward to the next Elder Scrolls. I'm sure it will be "everything you wanted".
Dude I knew Bethesda was trash when they released Fallout 4. All the signs were there. Superficial, shallow and with a weak story and characters. There they experimented with a couple of useless things like base building (which no one wanted) and random quests (they had this in Skyrim but not to the same extend). Starfield is the culmination of Bethesda's quest to create shallow procedurally generated games with stuff no one wants and stories which are for 7 years old and younger children. In hindsight Fallout 4 is a masterpiece compared to Starfield.
@@billjacobs521 Yes, I'm aware that the dumbing down has been happening from Oblivion onwards, but I think Skyrim was the exact boundary from where their next games have become trash. Skyrim and past games have had more good than bad, while now its reversed.
Oh shit I forgot Shadow of the Erdtree exists, I've been wanting to jump back in but was waiting for that. I wanna mod BG3 and do another playthrough of that first though I think. Phantom Liberty was pretty great!
Most Starfield NPCs will deliver snarky idle dialogue while aimlessly climbing desks, spinning around, and slamming to walls like morons. The only time they relax is when you start shooting randomly. It just works.
2:20 This is worse than just Bethesda lying about the map being hand-crafted. This means not only did they lie, but they also honestly thought people would be stupid enough to not notice. It is impossible to imagine them being THIS stupid and blind to the obvious that's clearly there right in front of us. It screams that either they're wildly mismanaged to the point they see the problem but do not have the resources to address it, or they really ARE that stupid and somehow think we wouldn't notice.
The only reason why this makes any sense is if the starfield release was so bad that most people either got purged or quit due to the backlash, and the people left were moved to work on ES6 due to there being no core people left with any ambition of not letting it crash and burn out in the rear view mirror, and the only people left is a skeleton crew who can barely make cut content work. They cash out as much as they can from Starfield before forgetting it ever existed. It just CANNOT BE that there is a full-sized, full-time content development team behind this. There is actually no way people looked at this and signed it off, thinking it would make people happy and improve the Starfield IP. This HAS to be 100% based on conscious, deliberate decisions.
You and I had very different experiences. I was asked to find missing supplies, got locked into a radioactive tunnel and had to fight my way out through zealots. Then I helped some wardens raid a zealot base, learned that my quest giver was about to be assassinated, saved her and finally arrested the traitor. Then I realized that was just a side quest with 2 cool dungeons. After that helped a old guy clean his house and he gave me a music box. Then I went to a haunted orphanage that his daughter used to work at and hunted down ghost kids that were playing pranks on me. Lastly I met a reformed zealot at his shack and agreed to help him take out his old boss. After I do that I might do the dlc's main quest and see what Elkris wants.
They’ve been going downhill since day one in terms of story, writing, world building, environmental storytelling, unique character design, etc. Damn near everything except graphics, models, and being able to shove more shit into the environments than their ancient ass engine can handle. And even those are still years behind the AAA standard Bethesda should be held to as one of the biggest gaming companies for 2 decades now, and publishers of two of the best selling media products in history. Good enough is not good enough. Bethesda, by all accounts, should be dropping generation defining masterpiece after generation defining masterpiece and instead we get “I think it’s good because it was my first Fallout game.” or “I like it because it was my first real open world game.” I hate when people act like Bethesda has had some fall from grace with 76 and Starfield. They’ve been sub-par since Fallout 3, they’re just really good at appealing to people who have no standards whatsoever.
How about when you reach the ending talk to this stupid npc for a while then open pause menu, quit and go open a certain game and go fight a certain snake demi-god to hear the real ending of Va'ruun: "Join the serpant king as FAMIILIIII!!!"
Todd, to his credit, says he doesn't ever want to do that with Morrowind, as it might take away from it's magic. He knows they suck, and he's at least willing to shield a classic.
the truth is that bethesda abandoned this game when it didn't meet expectations and is doing the bare minimum required to avoid deluxe edition refunds there will be no further DLC approaching this size
I remember when games had consequences. helping or being sadistic with a faction will make people hate you and outcomes will be impacted depending of your choices
shattered space, MK's DLC is pretty shit too but at least the amount of content can catch up to the cost in that case. shattered space is just a massive disappointment and not just content wise.
I came back to Starfield for this DLC because I got it with the deluxe edition. It truly felt like a waste of time. The writing was mediocre at best and the Va'Ruun factions were so mundane that I couldn't believe this was actually their homeworld. They weren't a mysterious religious society that worshipped some unfathomable god, they were just a bunch of schmucks bickering about power grids and administrative BS.
Bethesda's games used to be just fun and were viewed by the general public as very good games because they didn't take themselves too seriously. The overall gameplay/combat has always been stupid, the stories have never been as good as the market leaders for RPGs (Witcher 3, BG3), the games have always been buggy as hell, the games have never been technically impressive, the characters as well The stories have always been superficial and the characters in their games have always seemed stupid, lifeless and soulless. Of course that sounds very bad, but somehow these games had their own charm. They were goofy and funny, didn't take themselves too seriously and allowed player freedom. Combine that with mods and you have really cool and fun games. However, Bethesda has no idea why their games were fun and they've probably thought for years that they make the best games on the market because everyone loves them. The reality is that as soon as you try to get more serious like Naughty Dog, Rockstar or CDPR, your games stop working. Starfield tries to be this high quality triple A game and fails because they've actually never been able to do something like this. It's as if Rockstar would now make RDR2 graphically exactly the same as it was, or Naughty Dog Tlou2, but all the gameplay mechanics would be absolutely outdated, the story would be absolutely poorly written, the characters would stare lifelessly into your soul and on top of that you get 3 million loading screens. For me personally, it is absolutely incomprehensible how there can be people who believe that Starfield is a good game or tell me that any Bethesda game has ever been really, really good. The old games were at least very fun. quality has always been missing.
nothing will change as long as Emile is still the lead writer/designer. All of these issues go through him, and he has to approve them. like, just look at some of his recent interviews to see how far up his ass he is
After Skyrim and Fallout 4 seems like Bethesda just stopped caring. Starfield is honestly a sad excuse of a game compared to their previous IPs. Makes me wonder how they thought this game would actually be successful
I paid 70 bucks for space marine 2, finished the campaign in about 10 hours and walked away not only satisfied with my purchase, but truly awed and impressed. I hadn’t even played coop or pvp. This though? Wouldn’t even play it if it was given to me free.
The last good Bethesda game was Morrowind. Oblivion was okay but absolutely needs mods to fix certain design choices. Of course anyone talented who worked at Bethesda has long since left them. I'm hoping The Wayward Realms will be good.
@@MidniteMeatBus Fallout 3 has some absolutely stupid stuff, like a town around a nuke for example. So Fallout 3 is an okay game but a bad Fallout game, not as bad as Fallout 4 mind you.
Skyrim is an okay game too, it has many qualities to appreciate even if the writing is not as interesting as ptevious entries. The environments are stunning, exploration is fun and feels rewarding.
You're just a hater. You don't understand the subtle complexities of the dialog, the nuance of the story. The indepth quest design, the diverse choices you've been provided with. Best regards, Emil Pagliarulo (the guy who wrote this crap!)
People are weird, I swear. The fact that folks bought into Bethesda's lies after Fallout 76 fiasco, screamed how Starfield will be (or is for some still) a GOTY, then it comes out, flops and ppl are sitting there with shocked Pikachu faces as if it was something unexpected. Tbh, BGS community at this point has no one else to blame but themselves for supporting this BS, hyping it up and buying into it. Vote with your wallets, stop pre-ordering or buying games from BGS at full price if at all. Till message sinks in with the higher ups. Treat them like Ubisoft, this walking all over the gamers has to stop. You have to realize - till Emil-Whatever-His-Name and Todd the Liar are gone from BGS to name just a couple of faces, nothing is going to happen to their game design and writing. Pete Hines dodged a massive bullet with this game by leaving the company early (about damn time too, another liar for hire). Watch, same crap is gonna happen to next Elder Scrolls game unless Xbox cleans house at Bethesda and actually starts giving a damn.
i noticed when you got the option to get the extra mcguffin and choose to leave it, or take it and flood the entire valley....I was hoping for lasting repercussions....went and looked at the valley...was a little puddled, not much more than before...went to talk to the residents....and they just all said the same thing about having to have to move now. Thats it, destroyed an entire farmland and uprooted a settlement for some puddles and "Guess we gotta move now" dialogue . Weak, uninspiring and not fun.
Funny how I too also noticed that Bethesda is only good at their environments and music. It’s clear who in the studio actually are masters of their craft, or probably would be better leaders.
Me: “Well Bethesda this all looks very sub par for what I should expect from you, but at least now I’ll get more dialogue as a Serpent worshipping character.” Bethesda: “Nah not really.” Me: “Really!? Ugh, well at least Andreja should get some more dialogue now that she’s revisiting her home planet.” Bethesda: “…who?” Me: “Seriously!? Do I at least get to learn more about this Great Serpent stuff???” Bethesda: “The Great Serpent? Why would you want to learn about that? Uh, well here’s some information for you. The worshippers of the Great Serpent are a bunch of evil cult weirdos! How’s that for lore?” Me: “….I got this game for free and I want my money back.”
legit candidate for worst DLC of all time, todd outdid himself. Here i thought persona 3 reload aigis DLC would be the worst of the year but after emil called starfield their best game ever is when the fragile sand castle washes away. The braindead AI, buggy perfomance, boring bland story lasting 4-5 hours MAX, no new ship parts, 3 new guns that are old assets just different color, half dozen new locations and boring fetch quests for 30 bucks????? yeah its over bethesda bros. The main complaints about starfield are the souless exploration and overreliance on borderline infinite loadingscreens, what changed? nothing 🤣
The way I see it is that Bethesda were never good at making games, they were good at creating worlds, you launch one of their previous games and you're thrown into a vast world to explore and almost live in, with Starfield there is NO WORLD, they compartmentalized the game into small zones with loading screens in between and scaled up the process with an automated procedural generator, it's like moving from an artisan handmade product to a thousand industrial ones made in an assembly line. What they did is basically forsake the only redeeming quality that allowed their games to thrive despite them being a technical mess with serviceable stories at best.
Pre-ordered the version with this included and I haven’t touched Starfield in over a year. I’m so apathetic about the IP I haven’t even reviewed it which would be like trying to review white paint.
Its so fucking good now though its insane how much they acrtually fixed that game. It was attrocious on launch day. I have like 400 hours in 76 now, its great.
FO76 was the greatest meme for it's time. The game, the 200USD jacket, the cheap liquor with a cheap plastic case, the nylon...I mean canvas bag. I had fun shitting on them and enjoying the laughs with that launch and marketing.
Time to stop giving Bethesda a pass just because they're Bethesda. Their clunky, janky, archaic game design isn't "charming" anymore. Time for them to step it up.
Bethesda is a lazy company reliant on its modding community's hard work just look at skyrim 80% of gamers would leave overnight if mods were removed, what's worse is this lazy greedy company is now starting to charge gamers for their own work disgusting, I have zero expectations for elder scrolls 6
Vanilla Skyrim is still GOAT status, so please stop acting like it’s popular only because of mods. Mods will keep any game alive for years, it has nothing to do with the vanilla game being bad. You can only play so much after you’ve seen everything. Mods keep it fresh.
I have never regretted anything as much as I regret forking my hard earned money to buy the Digital Premium Edition. I didn't even realize Shattered Space had come out.
I DID want to let the super soldiers destroy the galaxy. The screen goes white and there is NO ENDING !!!! The screen goes white and NO MESSAGE, NO EPILOGUE, NO NOTHING. Sadly, this is true. I consider Morrowind the best game ever, but I no longer believe that Bethesda is able to make at least something on a Skyrim level.
Any hope I had for ES6 - Gone
I will have no sympathy for anyone who preorders ES6 (let alone any game)
@@AVM26 That's because most of the people who worked on Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 have left and moved on. By the time Skyrim came out fans were already complaining about the dumbed down RPG choices and bad writing and it only got worse with Fallout 4.

They still can't get NPCs to face you during conversations? I have no hope in TES6.
They should will return Skyrim dialogue cam.

I am sorry about all the bad things i have said about skyrim over the past few years cause at this point it looks like it was bugthesda's magnum opus
That was Morrowind

Na you saw the company for what they were. Skyrim isn't spectacular either lol
Morrowind and Oblivion were better than Skyrim. Skyrim was the start of the downfall for Bethesda.
Oblivion and Skyrim will always be my home 😅
The Elder Scrolls is my favourite game franchise and I don't even want TES 6 anymore. Bethesda don't deserve it. I would rather have a novel or something, exploring the next war with The Thalmor.
Seconded
Great War 2 .
ES 6 is already dead. They will destroy the Franchise when this game will look inferior to a modded ES 5
Starfield is meant to be Todd's new baby. This abuse should've called in CPS by now
Todd’s the kind of guy to feed his pregnant wife thalidomide on purpose
Nice 1!
The reason Bethsoft has good lore and worldbuilding was because their Elder Scrolls lore is 30 years old and their Fallout Lore was bought from a more competent company. They can't worldbuild for sh** either.
Even The Outer Worlds was more decent, even if Obsidian barely had new blood.
True. And they decided that Fallout Lore is useless to them if they can't monetize it in the cash grab known as Fallout 76.
@@thientuongnguyen2564 Outer Worlds was good but Pervati was bad 🍑
The only reason TES lore is good is because it was a collaborative effort on their forum in the late 90s and Michael Kirkbride.

@@Honed- you sound just like those 30 fps guys lmao.

Bethesda had years to rip off No Man's Sky and couldn't even manage that!

"If you didn't like your new DLC, you are playing it wrong" - Emil Tortellini.
Wild.
Your description if the dlc and its scale sounds like something you’d get from like a 20 dollar community added quest line, but instead it’s a mainline dlc that costs 75% of the price of Skyrim…
Baffling, insulting, and confusing are all great descriptions for this affront to common sense
Guys like Todd and Emil take the talent of their collegues and underlings for granted. They're just doing what they've always done and are genuinely confused that this would be different than Far Harbor.
8:00 I know the answer: *Bethesda's dialog is inconsequential.*
Let's compare Veronica from New Vegas to basically any FO4 or Starfield companion ever.
Veronica has a good bit of dialog you can click through if you're curious when you first meet her. After that, she'll be dead silent for a long time, only occasionally chirping up about something. When she does, you can either get more details from her via dialog, or ignore her and that's fine too.
Eventually she will approach you with a quest, and Veronica basically has *three things on offer to the player in this moment:*
1) You can get to know Veronica better
2) You can meet the Brotherhood of Steel, and all the opportunities that come with this
3) You get quest content and something to do
You have a narrative motivation to talk to her, a path that will undoubtedly unlock more content, and the potential for practical rewards via EXP and gear. Immediately, this is how Veronica piques your interest and gets you engaged in her dialog. The dialog then also offers choices for you to make, making the player's input feel valued and affecting the outcome/rewards/punishments for the player.
*Now look at the standard FO4 and Starfield companions*
You're marching across the lifeless landscape, when all of a sudden, your companion wants to stop to chat. You groan, because you know what's coming: *tell, don't show.*
The companion likely has absolutely nothing to offer you in terms of tangible, practical rewards, if you're LUCKY they will give you a quest that is no more valuable than any other quest since some genius decided to randomize all loot, and the companion is simply going to randomly exposition dump on you about how they grew up on their grandpa's farm when they were a kid.
In a game about multiverse bull crap you’d think they’d have funny consequences for every little interaction because the whole POINT of the game is to “reset” and find something new 🤦
Bethesda never heard of Phantom Liberty. But to be honest I didn't even notice there was a DLC for this boring mess of a game.
Its a good dlc if you have insomnia.

@@FoulPet Hopefully that era of games comes to an end soon. They all drop like flies as soon as they come out (Concord was such a massive flop it surely must have sent a message)
Anyway, back to BG3
Sad.
You give them too much credit lol. If this was made by almost anyone else what you said would be in it

Who is this directed at?
Dude I knew Bethesda was trash when they released Fallout 4. All the signs were there. Superficial, shallow and with a weak story and characters. There they experimented with a couple of useless things like base building (which no one wanted) and random quests (they had this in Skyrim but not to the same extend). Starfield is the culmination of Bethesda's quest to create shallow procedurally generated games with stuff no one wants and stories which are for 7 years old and younger children.
In hindsight Fallout 4 is a masterpiece compared to Starfield.
Agreed. Fallout 4 is when things started to get sort of bad.
You could see the changes back in Oblivion, if you looked. But it just kept getting worse.
@@billjacobs521 Yes, I'm aware that the dumbing down has been happening from Oblivion onwards, but I think Skyrim was the exact boundary from where their next games have become trash. Skyrim and past games have had more good than bad, while now its reversed.

It is impossible to imagine them being THIS stupid and blind to the obvious that's clearly there right in front of us. It screams that either they're wildly mismanaged to the point they see the problem but do not have the resources to address it, or they really ARE that stupid and somehow think we wouldn't notice.
anytime theres a Skyrim footage in this video, it actually looks much better than Starfield... thats crazy as well
Now compare this JOKE with Blood & Wine...
Womp womp
Elder Scrolls 6 will be a map of an empty forest with quests being available at $10 a pop.
BGS has always been mediocre. Ya'll just ignored it.
It makes me so sad that they got a hold of the Fallout IP.
Bethesda, by all accounts, should be dropping generation defining masterpiece after generation defining masterpiece and instead we get “I think it’s good because it was my first Fallout game.” or “I like it because it was my first real open world game.”
I hate when people act like Bethesda has had some fall from grace with 76 and Starfield. They’ve been sub-par since Fallout 3, they’re just really good at appealing to people who have no standards whatsoever.
Absolutely not, daggerfall and morrowind are phenomenal games and have aged quite gracefully
don't buy another bethesda product ever again. they need to go into the dirt.
How about when you reach the ending talk to this stupid npc for a while then open pause menu, quit and go open a certain game and go fight a certain snake demi-god to hear the real ending of Va'ruun: "Join the serpant king as FAMIILIIII!!!"
"Togetha we will devour the very gods.."
Wow, lack of evil ending really help me realize how bad this DLC is - thank you for letting people know that !
How about you go to therapy
So the worst DLC Bethesda ever made is for the worst game Bethesda ever made? Who woulda guessed!
At this point Bethesda would be better off if they just took Morrowind as a base and built up some of the systems and re-released it.
Todd, to his credit, says he doesn't ever want to do that with Morrowind, as it might take away from it's magic. He knows they suck, and he's at least willing to shield a classic.
Just to put this in perspective, Phantom liberty DLC for Cyberpunk cost the same price as this. Do with this information what you will.
the truth is that bethesda abandoned this game when it didn't meet expectations and is doing the bare minimum required to avoid deluxe edition refunds
there will be no further DLC approaching this size
One of the biggest problems in Bethesda games by now is the Presentation. There is just nothing.
I remember when games had consequences. helping or being sadistic with a faction will make people hate you and outcomes will be impacted depending of your choices
It's been like that since Fellout 4 when there's literally only 2 official endings with varied skins.
Which DLC is worse? Starfield: Shattered Space or Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns?
Starfailed
shattered space, MK's DLC is pretty shit too but at least the amount of content can catch up to the cost in that case. shattered space is just a massive disappointment and not just content wise.
Shattered space is just a Standard faction Quest that has been cut from the base game
Borderlands (2009) looks better.
How does anyone play Starfield and then want more of that?
Bethesda is now a company that makes bad games. Let that sink in. Fire Todd. Fire Emil.
Bugthesda is dead, and if anyone that likes this game, go the hospital, you have ate too many paint chips
nothing will change as long as Emile is still the lead writer/designer.

Don't worry Elder Scrolls 6 will fix everything wrong with current Bethesda issues, Todd told me 😉
I paid 70 bucks for space marine 2, finished the campaign in about 10 hours and walked away not only satisfied with my purchase, but truly awed and impressed. I hadn’t even played coop or pvp.
This though? Wouldn’t even play it if it was given to me free.
The "evil ending" made me weep for Elder Scrolls 6.
TES 6 is going to be a diarrhea tsunami...
The last good Bethesda game was Morrowind. Oblivion was okay but absolutely needs mods to fix certain design choices. Of course anyone talented who worked at Bethesda has long since left them. I'm hoping The Wayward Realms will be good.
Nah man Morrowind was great but Fallout 3 is also great, id say that is their last good game
Best regards,
Emil Pagliarulo (the guy who wrote this crap!)
Elder Scrolls 6 is so screwed :/
Funny how I too also noticed that Bethesda is only good at their environments and music. It’s clear who in the studio actually are masters of their craft, or probably would be better leaders.
Me: “Well Bethesda this all looks very sub par for what I should expect from you, but at least now I’ll get more dialogue as a Serpent worshipping character.”
Bethesda: “Nah not really.”
Me: “Really!? Ugh, well at least Andreja should get some more dialogue now that she’s revisiting her home planet.”
Bethesda: “…who?”
Me: “Seriously!? Do I at least get to learn more about this Great Serpent stuff???”
Bethesda: “The Great Serpent? Why would you want to learn about that? Uh, well here’s some information for you. The worshippers of the Great Serpent are a bunch of evil cult weirdos! How’s that for lore?”
Me: “….I got this game for free and I want my money back.”
legit candidate for worst DLC of all time, todd outdid himself.
When people really die they don’t get to see what happens next, so you shouldn’t be mad that you don’t get to see the great serpent ending.
🤣
THIS DLC HAS PRICE TAG?! I THOUGHT IT WAS FREE!!!
So... you don't even get to see the snake? The ONE interesting thing in this universe?
no matter how bad this is, still doesnt compare to fallout76....... that thing released was the worst bethesda ever made
Its so fucking good now though its insane how much they acrtually fixed that game.
So many modern games are a waste of time…
I’m a huge Bethesda fanboy and I played Starfield this week after the update. Turns out I hadn’t played it since last November. It’s terrible.
The shattered space is the trust between the fans and the company
Oh man... Can we get Asmongold to watch and react to this awesome video??
I have never regretted anything as much as I regret forking my hard earned money to buy the Digital Premium Edition. I didn't even realize Shattered Space had come out.
I DID want to let the super soldiers destroy the galaxy. The screen goes white and there is NO ENDING !!!! The screen goes white and NO MESSAGE, NO EPILOGUE, NO NOTHING. Bethesda give you a choice for an ending but were TOO LAZY to actually write the ending!!!!!! I agree with you it's totally unacceptable
That evil “Ending” is diabolical for all the wrong reasons. Did they run out of time??
Once you realize this was cut from the main game, had a coat of paint splashed on it, and was called good... The DLC quality makes a lot more sense.
Feeble is speeding up with videos.
That makes me happy!
Look if you're buying Bethesda products on day one after fallout 76.... It's on you man.
Game was 10/10, a true space rpg. A game we have been waiting since Starfield
