Thanks for sharing this video ,,, i have to say that ur walks are unique I haven't seen videos on UA-cam with this quality and beauty of the English countryside ... thanks man
Dave dude, really hope you don't skip the leg day, just need more of these walks forever. PS: really really underrated channel btw. But its good for us, we get good content and feel exclusive .. ayyy
This is an amazing trek! The shadows, the vivid clarity of the flowers, the smooth meandering down the route of diverse green hues...this trail truly is "beautiful." I liked it from beginning to end...thank you for this brief period in time!
what a beautiful corner of the world it's really easy to lose appreciation for the familiar but i hope people realise how lucky they are to live there your channel is a hidden gem. subscribed.
I also grew up in New Mills! It's one place I can't wait to come film, and will likely do a few I think, the town, all the Torrs and millennium Bridge, film up to the top of Laneside to big stone. Ahh can't wait!
This is an incredible walk! The shadows, the bright clearness of the flowers, the gentle meandering along the trail of various green hues...this trail really is quite ''wonderful''...I enjoyed it from start to finish...thank you for this moment in time!
I do quite a lot of walking even outside filming, so I'm quite used to it. But If I have a week off or something, a good walk can make me a little stiff the next day.
I did some research on the canal finding it very interesting. I couldn't find info on the many houseboats along your walk. Do their residents pay docking fees? Do they have access to electricity, water, toilets, showers, etc.? I didn't see any hookups. Also it looks like many of the houseboats haven't moved for quite some time. As the canal has a system of locks, do any of the locks remain operational, and if so who staffs them - volunteers? Dave, I asked quite a bit and I promise to buy you some "coffee". Thanks!
Whilst my knowledge is limited regarding canal boats, houseboats to have to pay what i guess would be called boat tax and insurance, there are docking fees, but i believe these are only payable when you are docking in places with amenities I am not sure.. as for the boats they have generators that will keep them powered, they do have water for toilets and showers and I guess gas, but I think the owner will have to frequently visit places for top ups. Some boats I think do set up a place to have as a permanent pace to dock, and I am sure some house boats are always on the move. I would say near all locks remain operational. They can all be operated manually by the houseboat occupants. There upkeep being a mixture of volunteers, but also the Canal and River Trust that are quick to respond to any problems relating to locks/canals. I would suggest a good source of info is UA-cam - search for: canal boats uk. For a wealth of information regarding day to day life living on a canal boat. Hope this was of some help 🙂👍
Good video & plugs a gap on YT for a decent video of the quality of the PFC towpath, so we cyclists can decide whether to tackle it or not. I like the fact that you let the scenery speak for itself instead of yakking throughout as a running commentary. Good work 👍
Haha I totally understand, so often I am watching travelling program on TV or on UA-cam, and I just wish the presenters would just shut up and let me enjoy the view for a moment, and it never happens..
Dave, I enjoy your walks. You have a beautiful England ( I live in the US) and I want to visit and follow in your footsteps. But I am fascinated by the concept of enjoying a canal narrow boat voyage or three. But when you are wandering, I see lots of docked boats and very few on the water. Why? Do people buy them and take them out for a week or two every year? I guess very few people live on them for long and most people who have them are wealthy and take them out seasonally. Just trying to understand the concept. I suspect that a lot of people who blog about narrow boat living do this as an alternate lifestyle, but I also suspect most boat owners are weekend warriors. Kind of makes sense. Any impression from you on this would be appreciated. Just trying to understand. Thanks for your walks and any thoughts you can provide. In other words, maybe I should plan on a visit to take a few walks and forget about the boating idea, unless, after a visit or two narrow boating makes sense to me.
I reckon about 80% are full time lived in, the rest are holiday boats. Whilst some people do probably enjoy travelling often, I know some are just happy to stay put in one place for most of the year and maybe travel only as a holiday break.
gorgeous,, you and rambalac are two of my absolute favourite channels :) keep it up
Wow, thank you! Rambalac is literally my chief inspiration for ever picking up a camera in the first place,
@@DavesWalks I was just thinking how great it would be to have similar content of the British countryside, and bam found you. Really great stuff Dave!

Another beautiful walk and nice to see plenty of different birds .. a few of them almost seemed to hit you. :)
They do like to swoop very close, fortunately no bird strikes that day :)
I feel so happy watching this! I wonder how long that canal is! Thanks Dave for another beautiful video. Bless you...
Glad you enjoy it! The canal is 15 miles long 😊👍
Beautiful walk! I did it at home in my chair a scond time but I would not mind doing a walk like this in England in person.

Dave as usual " you have hit it out of the park " a North American saying meaning the best and grandest.
In cricket parlance, you keep hitting these for six. Great job on this one.
Thanks!

During any of your walks, have you ever bumped into old Roman ruins?
There are very few and far apart so I haven't stumbled across any on my travels so far, I think I inevitably will do one day though.
could walk with you sometime

Do people live in those boats?
They do yes.
@@DavesWalks I thought as much but I'm from northern Illinois and hazarded my guess based on BBC tv shows. 😁😂

@@DavesWalksThanks for the explanation. I see. Who has time or the inclination to live on a boat full-time? Few, I suppose.
One with nature, are there wild animals in those areas?
Mostly birds and small rodents, rabbits, foxes, badgers, some deer but there are so adapt at hiding they are extremely rare to see!
Just imagine this being in the United States.
do you have canals in the US?
@@DavesWalks Of course. I'm talking about the buildings and walls and how old they were.
