Chola Empire was one of the largest and long lasted empires in the world. At their peak they had the world's largest Navy.and the three tamil kings chera chola and pandya had trade links far wide to rome Greece Arabia china Thailand etc. they sent ambassadors to Greece. Had a roman settlement in madurai, pondicherry and other cities. Had control over the Indian peninsula which is the centre point of maritime silk road and a well required halt point for trade vessels from Arab peninsula and the east. Cholas devised a generation long strategy to capture the east coast of India to control the ports , srilanka, malay,Thailand to expand their influence. The cholas are well known for their irrigation system of which dams and tanks still exist even today.

I cannot recommend enough the video called, The History of India, every year by Ollie Bye, but specifically the one from 7 years ago with 8.4 million views. He made newer versions but this particular one is the best.
I will add it to the list
The language you are not familiar with is called Tulu. It is spoken in a region known as Tulunadu which extends from the Southern coast of Karnataka to the Northern coastal tip of Kerala.

Millet is a high protein staple crop that requires less water for cultivation.
It has 80% more protein and necessary nutrients than the average staple food like Rice and Wheat.

Its also called super food due to high no. Of protein and nutrients then traditional or other forms of plant crops.
Maybe I will look for some to try lol

Singapire gets its name from Sanskrit, An Indian Language.
Singapore was originally "Simha Puri" (Lion Town). Lions being "Lion Dogs", Small extinct breed of Dogs which were hunted down in Ancient times in Singapiore, They were a cousin of Poddle Dogs found in China with a "Lion-like Mane" around their necks.
But tamil is official language in singapur , not sanskrit .

Good to come across an open minded American.
- The 5th southern Indian language in the video is Tulu in coastal Karnataka, (around Udupi, Mangalore region).
- there is also Konkani language near Goa coastal region apart from this.
- there are many other local languages in other places (especially tribal communities) like boya, toda, Kodagu, Gondi, konda etc.
- @19:00 Only difference between Mughal/Sultanate invasions and Hindu kingdom's expansion is that.. Mughal invasions are like colonization where, they destroy native identity, culture and impose their own culture, laws and rules which heavily discriminate against the local population.
However when the Hindu kingdoms expanded, they don't replace, but assimilate their culture with the local cultures, so that there is a cultural fusion and harmony between both. This is majorly due to the ideology of Hinduism being all accepting (over tolerance), open-mindedness due to it's inherent diversity and has no concept such as "my way is the only way"... With the concept of universal family. This the foundation in which age old Indian civilization is built upon that is reflected in today's "unity in diversity".
There may be some issues here and there due to individual interests of few people, but ultimately, the country is peaceful, with the minorities not only just surviving peacefully, but they are actually prospering and thriving.
It's all rooted naturally in the Indian civilizational cultural ethos.
- As long as the Indian Muslim community feels India to be their home and don't idolize Mughals or other invaders as role models, Hindus don't have any problems with Muslims. Which is what is the case in many cases due to which majority of the time there is peaceful coexistence of both religions.
The religious tensions only arise when Muslims consider the invaders as their role models, and consider the invaders as part of their heritage and culture and act upon it, with allegiance to international Islamic organizations. Which is the main issue that hasn't been addressed by any government so far.
And the hot blooded Hindus who feel betrayed take some unnecessary steps which might aggravate the situation and worsen things to a point of violence (which should be avoided). Which is what is more prevalent in the northern India compared to southern India.
For some reason every government so far is trying to appease the Muslim community instead of trying to unify everyone irrespective of their religion under one identity being belonging to the ancient civilizational state that is India.
- At least in my mind, they are as much Indians as every other Indian and if every Muslim accepts this fact wholeheartedly, and thus, Hindus doesn't feel like second class citizens in their own country, then Things will resolve.
- @31:03 There are organic pesticides as well that can control pests without harming the fertility of the land or health of the consumers, which was prevalent in olden days in India, but got overthrown by the chemical ones that damage cause pollution in modern times. Slowly people are going back to their roots and hopefully we'll get adulteration free, pesticide free natural crops for our food consumption in coming days. Especially millet farming had something very much staple and unique to many local cuisines across India which has to be revived now, as they are super healthy and they can actually increase the soil fertility and are efficient in water consumption. (Millet is a category of food grains, not one variety of grains).
- One more correction. Just to put things into perspective,
All the history told in this video is just medieval history of India and actual ancient history of the civilization goes long back more than 3500 years (with proven evidence) and more than 5000 years of history (with literary/geological evidences and many upcoming evidences) and more than 7000-10000 years of history (which is indicated by many huge sunken cities underwater yet to be explored).
Wow so much information, thank you!
@@ReldrikGeoI would take some of the stuff with a huge helping of salt, especially wrt the tolerance of Hindus ;). Saying this as a Hindu.
