- North India vs South India is a debate that keeps going on in the country. Both sides claim their superiority - but no debates actually talk about facts. Rather, the debates become very unhealthy. Fun Fact: -- I'm from Kerala. The first europian (Portugeese) Vasco Da Gama landeed in India on Kerala's Kapad beach situated in Kozhikode (British can't pronounce it and call it 'Calicut'). At that time Kerala was doing high volume spice trades with Arabs, Egyptians and East Asian countris. Mostly black pepper, gold and stuff where valued as treassures and Kerala is abundant with it. Vasco Da Gama tried to make a deal into that time's King of Kozhikode Samuthiri (British can't pronounce it and calls 'Zamorin') to make a trade deal. The Arabs where loyal trades unlike british and they where worried if British could steal there trade with Kerala, India. Unlike Arabs of that time who traded with us, Britishes had bad intensions. There plan was to make trade deals, slowly control by divide and rule. To everyone who's confused about Kerala and South India in particular. This is how Islam comes to south India. Through trade relations & trust. That's why you see a difference in people's attitude towards Muslims in Kerala or south India compared to North where Islam comes with war and brutal killings. So it's obvious and understandable. Also that's how India's first Mosque has been build. It's called 'Cheraman Juma Majsid' where 'Cheraman' was a Hindu King back then. The Mosque still standing proud in our state and is a symbol of our unity and history. By the way although all these happened and had many fights with British Kerala was relatively safe. And that's because Britishes had more focus on today's Kerala Karnataka border which is a small part at north of Kerala. Southern kindgoms like Kochi (Cochin), Kozhikode (Calicut) and Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) somehow resisted it by making some deals. Anyway past is past...! We're a beautiful country now, Union of states to be exact. let's work for our Nation, Rip off all colonial symbols, Be a proud nationalist, Love everyone don't disrespect every religion, Uphold our Indic values. I m from Tamilnadu. My family is lower class daily wage labourers. Still my parents encouraged me to study higher. I have completed my schooling upto 12 th through govt school. And went for higher studies in top college in city by using educational loan and got job offer after completing my college. I myself a first graduate from my family. Now my family is in good status. As a woman, I proudly says that without my family support I am not able to reach this place. This is the power of education and social justice here in tamilnadu which is already set by my rulers.

I am from kerala who has worked in UP for 4 years (1999 - 2003). In UP the politicians are taking the people for granted such as cast religion etc. whereas we the kerala people are competing with the west to enhance our living standards such as socio economic conditions and overall welfare of the society.

Thanks duruv.. I am from tamil nadu and would proudly want to register something. Mid day meals which was introduced by Kamarajar, the then CM, who did not do his schooling, still understood the value of education. Interestingly, when he asked a child labour why he did not go to school, he asked him back who will feed him if he doesn't work. That is how this policy was implementated. He was such a dear leader to all. I also wish the northern states develop as quickly as south india. All they need to do is focus on education. Everything else will fall into place automatically. Hope the change happens soon 😊
I am from kerala and I watcted your video.Your prsentation was very nice.But i think you just missed one important reason that helped the development of kerala. like you said ,at the time of independence poverty and unemploymeent rate was very high.people went out side for searching jobs.They first went to sreelanka then moved to gulf countries.There piople got good jobs ,they sent money to the home state. This also helped the developement in kerala.

The increase in literacy in South India, especially in Kerala, was due to the Christian missionaries who were there. They built schools, colleges and hospitals and taught children without discrimination of caste and colour. That's actually the reason for the increase in literacy.

I am from South India (Kanyakumari). Our politicians decided to give *free lunch at the school* to motivate poor parents to send their kids to school atleast for the food. This made a huge impact on literacy rate in south India. I have never seen anyone in my district who hasn't been to school.
North did the same.. but somehow teachers and education department officials became rich after this scheme. 🤪🤪

I am from Delhi. For the past 4 years, I have been working in Chennai. These 4 years I have learned a lot about life and people. Tamil people are collectively sweet and kind to even strangers. Initially I had the ego driving me acting like as a North Indian, I'm superior to the Tamil people and did not care about anything. But the karma played it's drama in my life. My mom was diagnosed with cancer and our family decided to treat her in Chennai. It was one of the popular cancer institute in the country. In the 20+ months of journey, so many Tamil people helped my family and supported us a lot. That too, mostly strangers. My relatives and friends in Delhi, they did not even care about my mom's life. I am so grateful to this Tamil people as without them, my family would be in so much turmoil and we would have lost my mom.

Parents and siblings are considered as family in my pov, other all relatives I don't even like to call them family cuz they don't care, they'd surely come and taunt but never really care abt us. It's same with many people

My current age is 70 years out of which first 23 years I have spent in North and about double that in South as a professional . Both North and South India have distinct features which make them two different areas but they also display strong Indian features which make them look as one single unified and homogenous country. Im a tamilian that grew up in UAE and my school had lots North Indians and Pakistanis. I used to disguise as a north indian to avoid being bullied and laughed at. Tamilians and keralites were seen as the weaker ones and our language was being contantly made fun of, even by the teachers. That soon changed after I left the school and now I wear the badge with great pride and honor. Naa Tamizhan Da!!

But the problem is araised at the time of ' Compulsion ' or at the time of ' Implementation by Political power or Force and giving social or political priorities based on Religion, Caste or Religion !
We dislike discrimination in any form in terms of Religion, Caste, Colour or Language ! All the Religion, Caste, Language and even for Atheist ( no belief on God and only belief on Morals like Budha) must be given Equality ! At the same time, Social Justice is to be maintained based on social and economical background to get Education and Job opportunities to 99 % of our poor and middle class people of our country ! As a Northeastern guy, I experienced Southies are better.
A simple comparison. Last year's budget 13,000+ crores allocated for Northern Railways but only 59 crore allocated for Southern railways. When asked about this , the minister replies that "budget is allocated on behalf of population " . My question is , In a country which promotes population control , shouldnt it be spending on southern states which has good population control? Isnt it like punishing the south for achieving population control? And also note the difference. Even if its based on population, there is huge difference between 13000 crores and just 59 crores
You could see the population growth rate of the two regions... Being a RESPONSIBLE (in controlling population) citizen/REGION seems to have its DISADVANTAGES (you can hardly be a vote-bank)! 😅

i studied in navodaya and migratred for 1 year to kerala for studies, learned malyalam and i loved south india so much, yeah few people make fun of the language but they really dont know about anything, how south indian language are very sweet. Love from UP
I still remember my friends from Raibereily who came down to Navodaya in Kerala in early 90s as part of migration scheme. Initially we were intimidated by their physic, beard, propensity to get in to fight and regular c* words. But later we became very much friends. I remember the holy we celebrated and the Malayalam movies we watched together.
As a village kid it gave me the opportunity to get to know their culture, food, language etc. Sweet memories.
