- A home is like a storehouse of memories. A space where people feel that they truly belong to. A nest weaved with stories and sentiments - a place that they can all their own. But today is the era of huge metropolises and ready to move in flats. The elements that make a house a home have got lost in this transition. But there are those who do not believe in these prefabricated realities, instead strive to create their memories one brick at a time. This is the story of Akhila, a natural farmer and Surendran, a planning manager from Tamil Nadu who embarked on an adventure together to create 1600 sq feet mud house filled with memories.

Proud Punjabi here. Im always impressed by fellow Tamils that how modest they r. This gentleman ia working for Levis and wearing his traditional clothes proudly. Thats amazing. We new age Punjabis r influenced wrongly by now a days Punjabi singers and try to copy them instead of our modest cultural values.
I feel sorry for modern day Punjab. I feel its 99.99% lost and a gone case. Irreparable for another 25 years.
@@oki484 don't feel sorry for Punjab, they are their best life
Tamils don’t need support of Punjabis.
That's a Huge Compliment 🤠 which many agree and is true but seldom express 😅 Though slowly external exposure and pomposity to show off is creeping in to NextGen Tamilian 😮
@@ImGodSoAreYou Yeah, self-centered people only use others, they dont call it support. Unlike the couple we see in this lovely video.
She called them masons and not labourers. Plenty of respect
As they do masonry job
Because they are masons!!
Importance of education.
Even labourer term isn't derogatory. It depends how you utter.
We call them masons actually, if you work with you'll know.
It requires courage and conviction to swim against the current and do things which are not typically done. Hats of to them!!!
Proud of you guys..
Know this couple for about 9yrs. I know the amount of time and work they put in. Tremendous hard work...
Congrats for featuring here..
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Kindly share their address to look n learn from them
@@simhadri56 Why will they share it on an online comment
The best part is she remembered her old ancestoral house structure clearly and the love she had which got drawn into the one they built it
Now even I wanna build a house just like my ancestral home which I had long like
Lovely couple. Both are on the same page. Good understanding between them.
I use to hear from our elders that apart from Jaggery, eggs and maida were also used for constructing houses in the past. And believe me to drill in such houses was some task.
These things were added to lime for carbonation for acquiring strength. It is a surprise to me if they can do same with mud as well.
No eggs.
No maida..
@@mannazhi8074 Yes, egg shells are used. In Telugu, those houses are called dungu sunnam illu
Yes in Assam the ahom kings built their palaces using sticky rice, raisin, duck eggs, jaggery etc. These palaces are still in good condition.
Very inspiring! 😌✨ Looking forward to visit a Thannal workshop with my husband and then build our own mudhouse together in our Food Forest❣️ 🙏🏻🕉️
GREAT IDEA.A MUD COBB COTTAGE IN MONSOON COUNTRY??? NEVER KNEW.INSPIRING😊😊
I understand the house is really big, but "Just 25 Lakhs" is still a huge sum!!
Alas, it's a great house and construction. The land alone would cost a lot to built 1600 sq ft house.
I love the concept and the house. Wished there was more detailed footage as a walk through of al the areas of the house for us to see, from countries far way. Thanks a lot. I loved it a lot.
Nice video but I have one query about termites!!!! I live in a two tier town where we built a house using the current construction methods and materials like cement and steel, now we are facing termite problem in our building ......
So in ur case, u r using mud itself as the main construction material, what precautions did u take to avoid termite problems
Please answer to my query Which will be helpful not just me but for other enthusiasts over here
Thanks and good day
Lot has wishes, only few implement and achieve it. Setbacks are beautiful souvenirs now. Happy for you, Akila & Surendar.
Good to see this type of Traditional House lovers.
Very Good 👍 👏 👌 😀
25 lac is not small money but all costs have gone up.
Mud house is choice what the couple had planned.
Congrats.
You guys made me feel like building one such house in my village!
These peoples are the real heroes....We need such people and such mindset to combat the ill effects of self induced climate change.....To live in harmony with nature is the only way forward for mankind to save themselves from the catastrophe nature could unleash at us.
We're looking to build a home with natural materials and exploring different options. Is it possible to get the contract details of this couple?
wow need some tech details about this house also
This sort of house was where I used to live in my younger days. On the wall mat of bamboo, mom wd mix soil with cowdung n plaster it n the roof wd be of a kind of grass
They should open their own UA-cam channel and website 🙂👍🏽
We all should learn from this. And everyone should build houses in such a way that climate change can be prevented and such houses are environment friendly as well.
Salute to them 🙏🙏
How to contact for a tiny house ?
Always a joy to see your videos. Bravo!
Salute to ur couples, simply superb.
Grt intiation for sustainability.
Felt like flying to thannal..... one day... will definitely learn those good things...
Thank you. Inspiring.. eco-friendly lifestyle.
What would you do for termites and ants and excess of rain? Overtime?
You need to check time to time and maintain the house well and they built in way that the rain wont come inside the house from the top.
which house is shown in 8:13, if you have the video of that please share that too
where is the structure that is shown at 8:15 in the video?
Surendaran sir really excellent house happy to see it
tamil nadu people set example always
You are amazingly kind people
Who built a very conscious home
Comgrstulations
Wah! Very interesting. Would like to know their co-ordinates . I am interested to see their house and learn more abt this.
Nice & humble couple, May Lord bless them with happiness and prosperity 🇮🇳👏🏼
Humble couple! Salute 🙏🙏
Excellent guys!!! Congratulations 👏
How will you deal with pest like termites in the long-run? 😮
Please give suggestions.
I am planning to build a mud house in Hyderabad
@samavedkrishna I am Hyderabadi as well and looking for an answer of the same question...
But the strength of bamboo decreases with time, is there any alternative for this ?
The concern for such houses will be longevity of the building. They made it for 25 lakhs in a remote village. I bought an apartment in Chennai for 100 lakhs. Given a lower cost of land in a village, the saving may be 50%, for a life that may be 25%. Just my perception. I also think they may have put in a very high amount of their own time foregoing any earning for that time. Not withstanding this, I feel it is a good experience to try a novel technique and share with others. That way it is not about cost, but about an adventure and the joy derived from the adventure.
Very well with 360° with thoughts 🙌🏽
Haritaki (kadukai)lime(chunnam)and river sand (manal) and gur(jaggery)used to construct
Ecofriendly sweethome👍👏👏
It takes courage to choose unconventional materials and techniques while constructing buildings. We often are skeptical how to go about it, from where we get skilled workers or will structure be strong and durable enough.
Wonderful. I'll visit with my family.
Very beautiful house. Reminds me of my grandparents big house, who were agriculturists in Karnataka. That house had a very calming vibe. They used clay pots for cooking. Cooking was in gas but heating water for bath was done with firewood.
Excellent work, loved it.
Visited them. Lovely.
Such inspiration! I wish to build a natural home like this one day :)
Inspirational story.
It would be very nice if they've made the modern day kitchen with interiors.... that will be space saving...
That's how they wanted. And many people would prefer that.
Would like to attend such a workshop. Where and whom to contact?? No details r given in the description...
Really inspiring i must say.
Is this possible or available in Telangana
Is it possible to get their contact detail?
Sir and Madam, My heartiest compliments for the wonderful house of complete happiness and real peace you built. God bless you. Great effort. May you live long and healthy. Is the house not too dark, though?
Awesome loved it. 👍
In villages mud homes with Wooden structures r Common...

Now who ever building new home going with Cement... Bcos of heavy rain it leakages...

I salute you for your passion
In the vid we don't full glimpse of the home☹️
Engineers, architects, manufacturers of building materials and mud house builders need to be brought together by the government to study how mud house construction could be industrialized, perhaps courses can be conducted in Community Colleges and Technical Institutes so that more qualified construction workers could be produced.
Very nice 👌👍
Absolutely beautiful!! I need help in Goa.
Takes indomitable courage to go against the tide
what technique is used for termite resistence?
people commenting here good... amazing...from their concrete city boxes.
what a great story!
Please give the address of the house to go and learn
How strong this kind of mud houses will be?
Im near by to singarapettai, love to see this house in person if possible
2:26 dusk
Great. One question. What about Earthquake resistance?
Mud house in snow area is possible?
I respect how they are sticking to their tradition. I noticed how the stove was on the ground, not a counter. That was the traditional place for the stove (we are from Andhra Pradesh, so I'm speaking for ourselves here) as told by my mother and grandmother. Even when gas stoves came about, they simply put it on the ground. Mother's used to sit on 'peeta' a low height wooden platform and cook. Standing for long periods of time is bad for the knees.
Telugus deeply respect Tamils for sticking to their cultural roots so relentlessly. It's a shame your (and our) politicians are trying to kill our Identity by spreading christianity, english, caste hate etc.
very proud of you guys. It takes a lot of hard work to do this.
I need the address of workshop and this house. I plan to shift from Metro to village. Please someone guide me.
