Just saw the original on a live tv show performance 2 days ago. The 60's were crossing into bizarre and cool-effective psychedelic guitar/amp effects. The guitarist had his fingers way past the frets for an effect and then the lyrics, harmonica, etc.

Never knew Petty's stage show was so elaborate. Never saw him live. Good rendition of Count Five tune.

The original drummer for the Count Five, Craig Atkinson, passed away in '98 and at the time was a Delta Air Line Captain.
