This video is so nostalgic. I started listening to Tom and the boys about 7 years after this but I was born in ‘86. I got into the band as my dad had their stuff on tape so we’d listen to it on road trips. You can tell Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were down to earth, normal sort of guys who dared to dream. They followed what came naturally to them. This video is what I’d regard as them at their height. I got to see them play at Hyde Park just before Tom passing and feel really grateful for it. They were absolutely outstanding. Amazing. RIP Tom and thanks, gents 🤝 🎶
Tightest band in U.S. band history. They gave their everything, individually and collectively, on every tune they played for 40 years. They are the Beatles, Stones and Queen all rolled into one. R.I.P. Tom Petty and Howie Epstein. Stay strong to all the rest of the Heartbreakers still rockin' today.
It was a hot day, and he had his leather on, his dog collar... a born story teller! That's what his songs so special: so many stories about this, that, and everything else.
Tom easily brings some psychodelic and mesmerizing feel to this rather simple song, and here we can see the real proof of that magic he did. He was a master of that transformation - from simple forms to multi-levelled hypnotic message to the audience.
I love it as well. He was such an awesome musical genius! I listen to him 3-4 hours a night until I passout on youtube. I have been this way since he passed and the tears flow everyday. I wonder what my obsession is all about?? There is a pull on me too stay very connected. Maybe because I am a writer too. I have been working on a few licks in the past few months.
Tom Petty is my all time favorite singer!! Also the band is so talented!! They complement each other perfectly:-). So many of my generation of singers are gone to soon.
Tom is outstanding here and he looks like he's really enjoying singing this song. I love Tom. Met him in 1981,after having front row seats partied with him and the Heartbreakers. What a great bunch of guy's....
One of the greatest song writers EVER! Been to 3 TP shows and they were all so damned good! What a band behind him too. Spike and his dog collar. That's so damn cool. We have all known a "Spike"...
when this came out i was living up north in Michigan had no friends because i did not live there very long & money was hard to come by butt when this came out i had to go all the way to traverse city to get this music witch was a long way away but when i got back home i played it & it just felt soooooo good
Such an awesome musician, really gets into his music! Great performer! A Sexy Dude indeed. Miss You So Much, my youth lives on through your talented music. I'll never get tired of listening to you Tom. And your family will be releasing so many more of your hidden gems you have created for us🤗 Love You & Thank You
I love this band so much! Plus, that hat really suits Tom. :) Sadly, I never saw TPATH in concert...one of my biggest regrets, despite being a fan since "Breakdown". So grateful for these videos. RIP Tom & Howie.
This was at Rich Stadium in Buffalo - I was there with some school buddies - Grateful Dead opened the show - great July 4th weekend, our first Dylan concert - Petty was bang on awesome!
What a crowd of people., they’re really into it. Fun tune. Everybody looks great and sounds great. I know interstate 75, it’s right out side my front door.🦆
I just love as he went on he would take the story in each concert as he got older. Until it really came up tighter abd funnier which is so friggin hysterical
Yes, an a favorite of mine as well. Tom and The Heartbreakers put forth a song like nobody else. Grabs attention like no other bank I know. They are sorely missed - but thanks for the youtubes Farm Aid!
I remember seeing him ROCKING-Out 2 this 1 @ PG & E Park in Portland,Oregon when my husband & I accompanied a close friend Bill Virgo & his son Daemon at the SWET concert T.P. performed with Bob Dylan in the mid-1980s another Legend!!:
This was actually Buffalo, NY. It was simulcast on Farm Aid...Line-up was Grateful Dead, Tom Petty & Heartbreakers, with Bob Dylan to finish up..I know cuz i was there and it was incredible...we drove all night from NE Vermont.

no social media back then. we both hitched out of Gainesville in 1974 and went in opposite directions as i remember. maybe he will read this at some point and say hello. i used to recall his last name but that's faded now.
One of my favourites too although the one on the anthology is my top favourite. So good to see the band performing it though. Tom looking a bit sweaty here. In the pre gig interview he looks a bit speedy....... love you Tom, very sad but playing your music more than ever. X

Not one that gets a lot of exposure, but it's in my top 10 TP songs as well. That groove! Reminds me a bit of Jack from Highway Companion.
"hey..Spike!! yer scarin' my wife!!"
They are SOooo young.
The coolest GOAT!
He was born to entertain! Every action all the little add ins on his song…..it’s like musical theatre! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of the few people that looks really good in a hat. Love it.
Tom easily brings some psychodelic and mesmerizing feel to this rather simple song, and here we can see the real proof of that magic he did. He was a master of that transformation - from simple forms to multi-levelled hypnotic message to the audience.

One my #1 fav.
This was at Rich Stadium in Buffalo - I was there with some school buddies - Grateful Dead opened the show - great July 4th weekend, our first Dylan concert - Petty was bang on awesome!
Rick Showers it wasn't 1986 because Farm Aid was held at Manor Downs,TX on July 4th 1986, I was there ...
It was simulcasted for Farm Aid... 7/4/86 - this show was in Buffalo.. As Rick states.. I was there.
Rick Showers man wish I would have seen him at least once live, too sad I can't anymore... :/
I was there too, my first Dead show, what a show they all put on!

This was live Farm aid filmed in Buffalo N.Y. at our stadium, not in Austin, Texas as it says above.
