This is the last Gainesville concert. We were so happy to see him come home for the show. Saw them many times, but had to travel the country to see them. RIP Tom. You guys did some serious justic for Oh Well
+Tom Petty i Fucking love you. one of The Best Musician/ Singer-Song Writers of our time. never a single live performance that hasn't kicked ass. He has many radio played hits but his other music doesn't get the deserved attention, so many under appreciated songs. Lyrically a Genius. i am absolutely in love with his cover of this Fleetwood Mac song. plus he nailed the always amazing mesmerizing Stevie Nicks. . here's to letting her "keep her hat on" Tom
I was 13 when his first album came out. 😅 Wilburys. There's a great video. Every song on the album was written and recorded and finished in one day. Those were the rules set by George.
And of course Steve Ferroni just burns it up. I mean seriously man seriously effortless. he just looks like he's not even playing he's so smooth and hot...
I've never seen an artist hold a crowd in the palm of his hand the way Tom Petty did just before he started the first verse, he was just having the time of his life up there, probably even more so than the audience
Same here, we always thought Tom would be around forever, there’d be a tour every summer with a great opening act. I’d heard after the last tour he planned to have hip replacement surgery and then do an acoustic tour of smaller venues on his own
What an awesome, magical 🧙♀️ musician and entertainer. You can just tell that Tom had a big heart and great, humble soul. Thank you, Tom, for giving us nothing but pure magic through your music!
@@paulwouters2025 actually it wasn’t. The song was written by Peter not Danny. Not to say Danny wasn’t a guitar genius himself because he certainly was. They both had unreal skill. But Peter wrote the song and invented the riff.

There's a lot of foreshadowing in this clip now with the benefit of hindsight. Here we have Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers playing an early Fleetwood Mac song at a concert Stevie Nicks attended with Mike Campbell playing the lead guitar. And now Mike Campbell has replaced Lindsey Buckingham in Fleetwood Mac after the end of the Heartbreakers.
Brilliant. Mike Campbell played this closer to home on Fleetwood Mac's '19 tour in tribute to the Mac's Peter Green. Tom gone! Christine gone! Hope the Heartbreakers and FM survivors can join together as a JV tour of two of the world's greatest ever-bands.

I attended a TPATH concert in Stockholm 2012. My first and only TPATH show. I’d brought a friend with me. And all was well until the band played Oh Well. I was exstatic. He mumbled oh well it’s not Peter Green. I blew a fuse and said ”you should go home now”. This concert lives in my heart forever ❤️💔
This is definitely my favorite version of this song. Tom’s singing is soulful and Mike Campbell and Scott Thurston absolutely tear it up on guitar together.
San Diego. Still remember Dylan's bored drawl "ladies and gentlement ... Tom Petty ... and the Heartbreakers" followed by "So You Wanna Be a Rock and Roll Star"
I just recently really DISCOVERED Tom Petty and the Heatbreakers. I had heard only the ones that played on the radio when I was a young girl in the 1980s. Now approaching 56 years of age, I stumbled upon some deep tracks of TPATH. I was smitten! Listening to the songs during this pandemic has become worse than a drug habit! Each new discovery was better than the last! Tom Petty was a musician genius! A pleasure to see them play live! Someone like him comes around every 100 years. I made a joke with a good male friend of mine who plays guitar that I finally discovered MY MR. RIGHT! Too bad its Tom Petty, since he is no longer earth bound. So I just have to wait for him in the great wide open of eternity!
Do you have the album LONG AFTER DARK? The very first album i ever bought when i was 11 years old. Total respect to Peter Green here. He must have been a big influence to Tom as he was to me Peter Green was the reason I picked up a guitar 55 years ago.
@Desmond Nolastname No, it didn't have the musical nuances of the Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Peter's fantastic touch on the guitar is missing. Tom made the song using his own style.

Very Early Fleetwood Mac does a great job on this one too.. thinking Peter Green ( original Fleetwood Mac member ) in the early days of Fleetwood Mac created this song??
Covering THE defintive period of Fleetwood Mac and their signature single took no small amount of chutzpah. My respect for these guys just went up a few notches.
Apples and oranges and fricken bananas All 3 were/excellent guitarists in their own right. If you were to ask Mike he would call bullshit. Hard to believe its been almost 7 years since we lost Tom
2017 was a year we lost legendary musicians like Gord Downie, Chester Bennington, Chris Cornell and Glen Campbell.
He would've been 74 tomorrow. Happy heavenly birthday, Tom.

Ok, this is worthy of a thumbs up.
Absolute classic one of the best blues rock songs ever written
Excellent cover of the Great Peter Green & OG Fleetwood Mac🤘
Haim dida better cover. Live in the park
amazing cover
Awesome cover
Mike Campbell is never listed in top guitar players but he is so damn good...
Other lead guitar players know he's the man you want to emulate if you want to make a band sound better. Pure tasty licks.
he's just the best
The best guitarists are rarely name checked. Mike C is one of them.
Hell yeah, damn right
agreed. the heartbreakers wouldn't have been the same without him. Mojo is his (and the band's) master work.
