- Yes, it gets asked all the time, what rc monster truck is the best under $500. I take a look at traxxas rc, hpi, and even turnigy to find the best available brushless rc monster truck I can for over $500
I wish this was out when I bought my E-Revo. Granted I enjoy my truck but you're absolutely right as it was little over $1000 for the truck, a good charger, and two Lipos. It's my first truck and with that speed logs and rocks start to cost money as things break. I am really enjoying the series and thank you!

Also, you mentioned Waterproofing the MT4 G3 - I would suggest spending just a bit more if you can and get the Dusty Motors Shroud.
It has a very thin Waterproof Mesh and will also keep your Temps down compared to cheaper alternatives. They make covers for just about any Scale RC.
David Davidson They're not a 100% Waterproof but they do keep Snow and Water out a great deal. As per their website "Our shrouds are good, but they can’t be breathable and 100 percent waterproof at the same time. Physics just doesn’t work that way. The splashes of water are OK, so don’t be concerned if the shroud gets a bit damp."

One of the Most Durable and Fun RC's I've owned in 10-Years
I have the rival, summit, and mt4. And previously owned the e-revo, savage flux, and emaxx. They all have goods and bads. The one that I've had the most fun with is the savage for the pure awe factor and durability. The mt4 is absolutely awesome, and surprisingly the quietest running mt of the bunch!! And the rival, after replacing the a-arms, shocks, and motor/esc is one of my favorites because of its pure size and strong chassis. (Over $1000 w/upgrades) yikes!! Good video, looking forward to seeing some new kits!
Good vid. I like how you don't show bias. I like how you admit Traxxas' are good, but just so expensive it takes them down a notch. The thing about Traxxas that makes them so popular is that they don't *really* need anything, out of the box. There's a premium for that level of engineering. It takes time. For them, it's about supply and demand. As long as they can get away with getting $710 for an ERBE, they will do it.

great video, I use to only run HPI but switched to traxxas, I now have 3 tmaxxs and a jato and the only reason I switched was parts availability, I can go to all the hobby shops around me and they all carry the traxxas parts and that's great since any RC you buy is going to break parts some time or another but now im going to have to take a look at the thunder tigers, and again fantastic video

I had to just let you know bro, you are sooo spot on with the complete b.s. pricing for the erbe. Never understood why that much bread for so much plastic. I have a revo 3.3 brushless that ive dumped a fortune into...plastic revos can touch it as far as durability goes. i have a t-max 3.3. im not really sure how it stacks up against other monster trucks but i bought it probably 5-6 years ago. its held up well and its still fun. one great thing about traxxas, parts are easy to get..... i do not know about other brands and parts

Great to see another video... I am not unhappy with my e revo but it is expensive... I have probably $300-400 in parts and upgrades into it because it is not the most durable truck out there with traxxas's plastic construction

Love it!... as a biased mt4 g3 owner! I've got an elst2....widely thought of as one of the ultimate bashers and even with a 92mm leppy motor.....mt4 seems better ,at the moment at least ,2 me. cheers

Hi Jeremy if you remember I bought the rival off of you and I have to say you are correct. I replaced all a arms and decided to through in a mamba monster and mamba max2 and I haven't had any problems with it (except stripping a spur) and the shocks are holding up surprisingly well. Take care man
Dig the info, you should of course do more MT nitro bashing, you RC nightmare need a Team Losi LST2! It is a sick nitro MT. I have a team AE Mgt 8.0 and agree with your comments on the AE rival, it is the Brushless Mgt and yes it is a trouble kit. Good video .
The savage flux HP is now around $620 shipped and the EMTA is $699 shipped (so is the MT4 actually). It would seem the savage is a better deal now since its tough to get the MT4 at all.
The Rival is basically the same as the MT4 G3. So its interesting how you rip on the Rival so much but praise the MT4 G3. My Rival hasn't broken anything yet and I am quite satisfied with the power out of the box. The wolf pack 3000 mah batteries actually aren't that bad.

Good choice with the number one truck. I think you were a little harsh on the Rival, but not unjust. Compared to others, it is lacking - big time! If you wanna know what it'll take to make the Rival a total dominant BEAST you'll be up for about $1000-$1200 in total (including the truck). LOL. I got a whole upgrade series on it...
I'm surprised there was no mention on the Summit... I know it's not brushless, but still a big MT well over $500.

Nice list Jeremy! Considering the part support, tuning and modifying the rc-s- plus fun factor!!!- I really don't think there is any match for the Traxxas Monsters, especially after the prieces were dropped really really down! Waterproofing just ads a ton to all of that, waterproofed electronics can't be beaten with water resistent shrouds of any kind... Summing all these mentioned above I wouldn't mind spending the extra 100-150$(plus shipping plus customs and the rest of bullshit all extra!!!)

But looking for a new Rc everytime I do compare especially after a dozen reviews the "New Chosen One" I do end up buying a new Traxxas! =-))) I'm no Traxxas fan boy or fanatic, it's just I want the best for my money...And so far Traxxas delivered...the rest did not... this is why I do own only Traxxas...all the rest I sold as fast as possible...

I will be honest. This was one Hell of a video. You did a Very nice job bro. And I cant find any thing to argue with you about. I would put the savage behind the G3 only because of the durablity of the savage is just great.I would Avoid 6s in monster trucks unless you have the right surface to use it. 4s Is Plenty enough power for monsters like these. If you want to go 100mph find an on road type of RC and keep it on the tar. The people that want to go 80 in the rough and hit a jump need to understand that things will break on Anything pushing that type of power. The thing is more people use traxxas and abuse traxxas so they get sort of a bad deal. When the people that know about RC might know limits and what RCs like. My kid wanted me to mount up the Jumbo kongs on my savage and let me say it shredded my diffs out. The rear diff was good for 2 years no issues then the kongs are just to large and it ruined my diffs. This was a great video Thank you!!!
Mt4 g3 is amazing but if i had unlimited money to spend on a monster truck it would be the hpi savage flux with the xl upgrade kit
I scored a brushless e maxx with a mamba monster motor in it off of eBay for $270.00. If you look carefully, you can find some good deals.

i like nitro truggys i have 1/8 Mugen Seiki MBX7TR with a reds r7 evoke and its great i have only had 7 rcs but its defiantly the best I've seen but also very pricey

Cen colossus #1 no terrain can stop it. most durable. 500oz savox servo. Amazing 7.5 inch tires even on huge sand hills. Buy it.
I have a feeling if you always have a spare bodyshell and tires and a wheelie bar on it, the savage hp is the best. I'm saving up for one

hi I agree with what you are saying but you forgot to mention the losing XL or the much cheaper exceed Hannibal or the redcat rampage both great vehicles that are for a lower than $1000 great trucks also there is team associated mgt as well and a few others I can't quit think of right now... although the losi 5 is great I would rather have the Losi XL (I know it's $1200+ but I would still love to own one some day)

Can't say you are very consistent in your review here. The HPI Savage Flux got bashed in your review with brandon (for good reason as far as i am concerned). Erevo you were very positive about, as were you about the EMTA. Now you change your opinion without hasitation? Still i'm a big fan of your video's and i bought an EMTA partially because of your enthousiasm about the brand TT. Keep up the good work, but try to be a bit more consistent if you could. Just my 2cents :)
My favorite monster truck would be my rc8te with factory team aluminum parts, mt4 g3 wheels and monster truck body.. the Rival is a joke in comparison. I have not broken a single part on my rc8te. I just swap ball bearings, shock oil and diff oil. And I use only team associated parts, -(hobbywing motor) I also had it as sc8.2e before I converted it to truggy, only the stock sc bumpers broke.. my friends have e-revo, vorza, caster racing truggy and rc8.2e factory team kit. After my opinion only the rc8.2e factory team is equal in durability. Probably because it is basically the same kit just shorter chassis and smaller wheels.. I used factory team parts to convert sc8.2e to truggy..

In your opinion if price is not being an issue, what do you think would be the best overall monster truck? I want something that handles very well I am very impressed with the E Revo and the Summit's suspension, that is what I've been planning on getting but the E-MT4 G3 has really sparked my interest. I'm not worried about saving a couple hundred bucks instead I'd rather just get one really good all around truck that last and handles the best in a wide variety of situations, backyard bashing being the main one in all four seasons I am Super hard on my original 1st GEN e maxx so I would need something that either handles extremely well or is very durable but preferably better at handling. My main concern is aftermarket availability and how easy would it be to make the E-MT4 G3 waterproof?

The traxxas stampede needs a bigger bumper and all traxxas rc cars need stronger drive shafts and they need to include a charger
I have the 1999 emax with 2 gears setup with TWO 775 motors and it is hard to keep that thing on the ground bra.

Why go with best rc trucks over 500 if your goal is to stay as close to 500 as possible? If someone can't afford to spend over 500 they can watch the other video. And if I can get the e maxx brushless out of the box and ready to run in water or wherever for 700 why wouldn't i? Why spend 550 then put another 150 into it to make it as good or almost as good as the e revo or e maxx

Why did he not mention the problems the Savage Flux HP has? Wheel hexes strip EXTREMELY fast and the problems with the differential gears
+TexasNewEdge From what i remember on the friendofrc video they didn't run into those issues, they had battery tray issues, and esc breaking loose, and maybe a esc pole i can't remember. I tried to watch the video again and for some reason i can't view it because it says not available in your country lol.

I did my research and I'm leaning towards Senton/Arrma in general because they make a no nonsense rc. Meaning they made a car that is strong in all the right places.Your thoughts?

This "review" is all over the place! Title says best RC over $500 yet you're saying the eRevo is too much at $700?! Then you go on about the power of the Savage(also $700) yet the eRevo has the Mamba Monster motor-considered one of, if not the best, motor out there! Not a Traxxas fanboy but your reasons against the eRevo don't make sense

xmaxx is a joke way over priced I'm getting the losi xxl2 electric the only thing I like about my friends xmaxx is the size
xmaxx is no joke. i got two and they are every ounce...or should i say pound of bad ass truck... i expected them to be. it is big fast and most of all tough. don't get in its way because it will win. lol the acceleration from only a foot a way is enough to hurt you pretty good. i know... ;-)
actually it;s way more than just plastic shit, but thanks for your very informed and helpful message... lol i bought two of them and run them hard and crash the shit out of them and guess what... it' super plastic cause i cant break the shit. ;-) keep in mind a glock is mostly plastic.
I like the size of the xmaxx but it's a little slow and just doesn't have the crazy power of the savage flux hp.
I wouldn't touch it, severe lack of adjustments, slow from the factory, it's actually 1/6.5 scale, it's awkwardly designed and i can see it suffering major breakages once less experienced drivers start crashing seeing as it's a multi piece chassis with braces meeting in the same spot that the chassis sections meet
