It’s time for a big all-American showdown!!
These huge SUVs may be more designed for comfort than performance, but how will they fare when they go head-to-head over the quarter-mile?
First up, we’ve got Mat in the Lincoln Navigator, which is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 that can deliver 450hp & 690Nm of torque. It’s pretty hefty, though, weighing in at around 2.7 tonnes!
Alongside Mat, we have the Cadillac Escalade. It’s got a huge engine up front, a 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8, but it’s down on power compared to the Lincoln, delivering 420hp & 620Nm. It’s just as heavy, though, also weighing in at 2.7 tonnes.
Then finally we have the GMC Yukon. It’s powered by the same engine as the Cadillac, so it has the same power output, but it’s the lightest car here… Tipping the scales at 2.5 tonnes!
Will the weight difference prove decisive? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

The GM trucks limit their top speed based on their wheel and tire diameters. They have a maximum RPM that the drive shaft is rated for so it doesn't destroy itself. I love my 2019 Silverado RST, fits my family of 5 and hauls whatever I need it to.
Thanks Matt, for racing some American trucks!
Agreed. My 2020 Silverado Trail Boss LT with the 6.2 and GM Performance intake and exhaust is limited to 98mph. I have the 18" wheels on mine. When I hit the speed limiter it's like hitting a wall. The way the GM cars squat on accel is so fun to look at, but how flat the Lincoln is at full throttle is impressive too
You may think it is, but the Lincoln is a pig in a corner. The GM's suspension stiffens up pretty nicely. They handle surprisingly well

@@HwangInhoBooNam Urban SUV is a term I've heard for those small SUV.
These full-size SUVs feel like remnants of a bygone era. In the late 90’s when they became truly popular they made perfect sense. Gas was $1/gal, parts were cheap and you could comfortably fit 5+ people for looong road trips to the beach, to mountains etc. Plus, you could push 300K miles on those small-block V8s and they would still run. The 90’s was prime Americana.

That Navigator! 😍
“Mat you’re a big fan of twiddling little knobs” 😂 🤣 😂 I can’t with you guys.
They’re brilliant for long distance travel / road trips in the US where petrol is cheap! Have hired both the short and long wheel base Yukon and the Ford Expedition (essentially the same car as the Lincoln Navigator) for 2,000+ miles road trips in California, Arizona and Florida with my family and they’ve been absolutely superb!! Did a 10 hour drive from San Francisco to Las Vegas with one 15 minute stop and arrived as fresh as when we left!
I am surprised the Lincoln did not blow the others away as I found my Expedition with the 3.5L twin turbo V6 had so much bottom end torque and power up top that it made it the easiest by a considerable margin to row along!
I did miss the soft woofle of the Yukon’s V8 mind though the V6 did sound nice too.
There are things called minivans that exist
@@W-2Forms Hahaha
True but they lack the road presence and the va va voom of a Yukon, Expedition or an Escalade!
The Escalade will be the car for my next US / Canada road trip
that because the base Yukon has a 5.3 V8 with 355hp not the 6.2 420hp from this video.
If He had held the throttle to the soft rev limiter and actually launched it that Navigator would of totaly ate the escalade and Yukons lunch I assure you.

I've been in all of them, but I'd say the Lincoln was definitely the best from the back seat simply because of the massive windows and the seats were lovely

And being from drivers seat perspective
@@JAYY_JAYY the Lincoln rides like shit compared to the GM vehicles. Ford has always had a bad reputation for corning on these SUVs and that still hasn’t been addressed.
@@specialestness sadly there's really only either Expedition/Navigator or the Grand Wagoneer comfort-wise if you're a big family (parents, 4 teen kids, & a pair of grandparents), & the Grand Wagoneer apparently has the worst mpg out of all the big SUVs.
@@j134679 comfort wise the new GM competitors are miles ahead of the last generation. If mpg is a concern then you can gamble on a 3.0l Duramax and get around mid 20s+ mpg. I was pretty disappointed when I got an 2020 Expedition as a rental. With only 800 miles it had a lot of interior trim falling apart, the driver seat was collapsed on one side, and it drove like it had 300,000 miles on it. Acceleration wise it felt very comparable to the smaller 5.3 from GM. Yea and that makes the Lincoln boring. When I step on it I want to feel everything and that's including seeing the front end lift up. Guess the Lincoln doesn't have the torque like the gm engines do lol
@@trentdaddydolla647 it's how you put power down especially if it is front or 4 wheel drive. Also why it got off the line and kept pulling. Even with 4wd robbing more power
@@up_all_nite_4408 I have an 2008 Yukon Denali and an 2016 Yukon Denali and it still squats when I do an wot pull. Both are awd and both suspension are healthy. Might be because of the solid rear
@@trentdaddydolla647 yea probably Lincoln designed it to not squat for better traction and handling. I doubt its torque though since the Lincoln has more low-end and i believe peaks quicker. Could be the axl or a choice by gm. Some people like it bc it feels cool even if a wheelie doesn't occur.
@@trentdaddydolla647 Or, alternatively, it might be because these luxury boats were not in any way designed to "put power down, get off the line and keep pulling." They were designed to impress your rich pals at the Country Club about how rich you are. Have you considered just going with the Dodge Challenger with 706 horsepower? It might cost the same as these monsters, but you would get more bang for your buck. The Challenger would likely be banned from your Country Club. Your street buds would be impressed, though. And you wouldn't have to come up with those $6,000 a month Country Club fees.
