    I've been thinking about Mixamo and someone should go and rip the Auto-rigger algorithm and the animations and characters of that website, because one of these days Adobe is going to take it down.
    Like just take them and make them into a standalone program.

    • @jojo-lp4rd
      @jojo-lp4rd 4 роки тому +7

      Pretty sure that would take some serious hacking skills since it's all on the backend - and you'd get sued into another dimension for trying to do that - but there are similar alternatives - this one for example is often compared to mixamo's autorigger. It would be really cool if there was an open-source solution but let's face it - character rigging is a skill and it holds a lot of value.

      I think iClone has something similar to this, but until I get my beefier real-time rendering PC fixed, I can’t possibly download it for myself and say for sure. I enjoy modeling, texturing, and lighting way more than rigging and animation, so I too would like Mixamo to have some healthy corporate competition in case Adobe decides to deliberately piss us all off again.
      One decent alternative I’ve found is to model base meshes in a free program called Dust3D, which has the option to automatically skin your mesh, and then you can bring it into Blender to create a library of animations and more complex character sculpts. It’s A LOT more setup than what was shown here, but once you build a big enough library of animations, it eventually becomes easy. More importantly, Mixamo only works with biped characters with exactly two arms and two legs, whereas Dust3D lets you create and rig any base mesh for a creature, regardless whether they’re bipedal or a quadruped, or if they have four legs or eight.

      @@JeffreyThrash crikey....what a find that dust3d is.... clara.io is good for this stuff but oh boy, dust 3d has some speed on the rigging part and modelling enough for me to check it out. Thanks for the nod.

    Neat tool but I'd rather use "Godot Game Tools" for blender, you can download packs of animations from Mixamo import them with GGT and remove the root motion from the hip bone then export as gtlf/glb and you have a blend file for further edits, for those not comfortable using blender though this tool is probably the best alternative, only restriction is the "In Place" setting is not exposed for all animations and you have to download them one at a time, using a pack I can rig, animate and export a soldier type character with 49+ animations into Godot in less than 10 mins.

      @@gamefromscratch i think i have a totally different workflow, or just too noobish to understand. I pick the animations i want from mixamo and down/load them into my project/animator(unity). This seems like just an extra step (because i have to have the animations on my pc anyway) to generate a single gltf file. I can delete and add animations how i want without the combiner. With gltf it seems i need to generate a new one every time.
      Also reading the title i thought it was about combining different limb animations. For example arms from animation X with legs from animation Y.

      @kellygallagher7148 4 роки тому +1

      @@p.k.4927 Yeah, I agree. this whole process is completely unnecessary in Unity since you can just put whatever animations you want in your animator controller. Just double clik default_env.tres in the filesystem dock, then in the inspector go to background > sky, click on proceduralsky to expand it, then click on sky and set top color and horizon color to full white, then save by clicking in the floppy icon. This is the quickest way of getting rid of the blue tint without messing with lighting.

      @@digitaltrash because this tools exports in GLTF or GLB formats only. Which is stupid, because these formats are last mile( presentation/end-user content delivery usually for whole scene) formats and are not meant to be used for authoring and sequential edits of specific characters or models. But yes, since 4.19 Unreal has fully functional official glTF importer plugin. Don't forget to recalculate shadows after import if you are using such mode.

      You dont need gltf i just download the fbx files from mixamo , import it and then set it up in animation manager. Make sure to download in place,and no skin. You only need 1 fbx with the rig.

    This tool is absolutely pointless if you ask me. Your animations should be tied to a skeleton not a specific character, so that you can re-use it for other characters. That's why you have the "download without skin" option (or something like that) in mixamo.
