How to Easily Change Broken Hood Lift Supports on any Acura or Honda in 3 minutes

  • My moms 2003 Acura TL had weak Hood Lifts and we had to use a stick to prop the hood open. Http://acurapartswarehouse.com Luckily I just changed the hood lifts on my Lexus Gs and I knew the job would be really easy. The part # you have to get from your dealer or online is 74145-S0K-A02. www.acurapartswarehouse.com
The removal is pretty simple, just grab a flat head to pry off the two clips on each strut. Installation is even easier, because all you have to do is simply pop the hood lift onto the steal knuckles. That's it! Enjoy.
BTW: Check out Http://www.simplyadditons.com for house and addition plans with construction costs.

Other videos show the need for socket wrenches that you don't need. Thanks for showing us the EASY way. It took me all of three minutes.

And this is why I love the internet. Your video was perfect and the install was crazy simple. Thanks!

Thank you this took under 15 minutes! My dealer wanted $125 to fix the supports. The only other thing I did was wiped the old grease off the bolts.

Thanks, man. Took me longer to find something or someone to hold the hood than installing the parts. LOL!

Thanks, it took about 3 minutes to do this on my 2003 Acura TL. I was tired of being clonked on the head.

I know what you mean. These hood lifts just give out with age. I'm glad you were able to take care of this yourself and saved some CASHOLA :P

GREAT VIDEO!!! Thank you- I was thinking I'd have to remove the double ended nut mounts, like on other cars!!!
This is why I love Honda and Acura!!!
My 04 MDXt Hood struts finally went at 120K. I've been using a pair of vise-grips to hold the hood open. I gotta replace my PS High Pressure line, so I was like, yeah I better replace the hood struts first. LOL!!

Okay awesome Thank you so much for the video! Now if I could just find a video about totally replacing the hood... I might just jump in and see what happens... I think it's only four bolts, after doing what you were doing in this video. I'm also well aware that putting new Hood on, is going to be a pain in the butt because you have to adjust it...

Oops sorry about that. The #acura hood lifts are cheap enough, just buy them and swap them out. There's no point in trying to repair them. However, if you do find a way to do it, I'd love to hear your story. #carrepair
