Laura. First of all, really LOVE your ideas for the sewing room. I was looking for project storage ideas and all the videos are really helpful. I really your emphasis on the importance of the iron. Sewing is really joining fabrics. The iron and steam helps create the shape, whether flat or 3-D. So just a suggestion. I learned before pressing a seam open, press the newly stitched seam closed first. Or press the new seam where you stitched. This helps “set” the stitches. Before trying to press the seam open. You will always notice two things if you do this step. It is easier to open the seam. And the seam has a much more polished appearance. It’s feels “set”. Try it. Again thank you for videos!
Thanks for taking the time to say so- it means a lot to me! The Oliso smart touch are also great because they are hard to knock off (I can’t remember if I mentioned that in the video!).
I am thinking about a cordless iron. Any insights? Looking forward to your kids sewing projects. My granddaughter has been helping me sew for years. She is now 10 and has her own basic brother machine. Oh! New to your channel and I subbed. Great info!
I’ve never used one so unfortunately I can’t steer you one way or another though it sounds incredibly useful! And I’m so happy to hear your granddaughter sews! It’s so fun watching kids learn on their own machines. Such pride. I have a couple of kid project videos out now and a few more on my video workshop site at www.hartfordstitch.thinkific.com . Thanks again!

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I’ve heard that before but always forget to do it. Thanks for sharing the tip!
Totally agree! I saw such an improvement in my sewing when ironing became a habit! Thanks for sharing!
Great iron video! I have knocked an iron off the ironing board and bumped into it as well. Love the idea to use the felt mat.
