That was just incredible. What a great mom you are, and your son is so smart and precious. Nine years ago! Now I have to find out what you two are up to now...
Hi Vanessa, I'm 74 and have been learning from your video tutorials which are a tremendous help to me. I just saw this video this morning and your son is absolutely adorable. As a mother that raised 2 loving and respectful sons it's wonderful to see how you teach your child that sincerity and respect, there needs to be more parents like you so our world will be much better better place. I know your son is much bigger now and you have a beautiful daughter also. You and your husband are very blessed💛💙
My 2nd grade students really enjoyed watching your son sewing! We think he had such good manners. Also, we noticed that he was a great listener and followed safety rules. What a super smart kiddo!🙂🤓😎
Are you kidding me? That was adoooooorable! Nice way to train the next generation of master tailors. I believe in the power letting kids create and make on their own. Your approach is spot on. Keep it moving forward. When he is ready I'll send my measurements so he can make my custom shirts.
Thanks so much for you comment, Scott! Much appreciated. He is quite the attention-to-detail type of little guy. He is 5 now and has sewn a few other things including his first quilt, some pirate pants for a themed birthday party, a few stuffed dolls and some smaller projects. Thanks for watching. :)
TheCraftyGemini Just so you know, I am a school principal where a major component of ours is making and tinkering. I will share this with my teachers so they can see making in action.
Love that you are teaching him early! He will have such a great outlet as he gets older!! AND he is the cutest little guy EVER! Thanks for the tips, and happy sewing!
Oh my goodness! You are an AMAZING teacher. I was a teacher for 39 years. Your style and approach is so well done! You are also wise to allow your son to use the equipment because clearly, he is ready to use it. I am so impressed by his knowledge about sewing. One can tell that he really knows what he is talking about. He is not just reciting sentences. You should start your own sewing school. Many people can sew. But few know how to teach children to do it. Start your sewing school. You have the gift of teaching.
Sewwww Cute! I started teaching my 10 year old Granddaughter to sew on Christmas day with the new machine I'd bought her. I am now teaching my 15 year old Granddaughter to sew. It is pure joy to see them sew sew and to pass it on to the next generation.
My six year old showed me this because she wants a sewing machine for Christmas too. I enjoyed watching this! You have a very cute and smart little guy and you are a great mom for teaching him.
Love the respect you show your children. Children understand and are capable of so much more than most give them credit for. A strong foundation to build a life on.
Oh my gosh he is just too adorable!! So smart and so interested! You are a great mom to teach him these things!!! Enjoy-the time goes by so fast!!! What great memories you are making for him and yourself!!
MOM YOU ARE THE BEST EVEEEERRR!!! An example to be followed! You have my full admiration!! Your kid's work is simply the result of your amazing dedication and happiness in being a mother! Lucky him!
What a gorgeous child! I love how he talks and explains things to his camera friends. I think it's great that he is learning to sew and learning spanish, too. Thanks for sharing this lovely video!
Wow! He's such a sweetie. You did an awesome job teaching him and he's knowledgeable. My daughter will be 7 in February and she requested a sewing machine for her birthday
Great Job Jonathon. He is so eager to learn and do it "himself". You are going to have so much fun sewing together. He is adorable! I like how he corrected himself every time he said needles instead of pins..lol. Great Job Mom!
Your little man is so coordinated and brilliant. Such a sweetie pie. You're a great teacher. It'll be exciting to see what projects he designs on his own.
This is so incredibly precious. I went on a search for kids first sewing machine project and this popped up. I am so grateful for this gentle lesson. xo
love, love this! He is learning so much while sewing. building his vocabulary and fine motor skills, learning to be patient and work hard, and his video skills are PERFECT!
This is very inspiring! My girls asked for a sewing machine for Christmas also. I really love the way that you stand back and give him a chance to grow. He is a very mature little guy. I say his almost ready for his own show!! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom!
I searched how to sew on your youtube and this popped up. By far the cutest thing I have ever seen it brought tears to my eyes. What a great teacher you are. He is so smart.
Your son is so lucky, adorable, intelligent and you are such a wonderful mom. I remember watching my mom and dad sew(not pros), making needed items in the 1960's. I had to wait until I was 9th birthday to get my 1st Sears Kenmore. I still have it! Now 54, I will be teaching my 4-1/2 yr.old grandson who is all eyes & questions when I sew. Thank You! For posting a great video. Now off to find the closest the old machine is stored in.
Anytime he said Camera friends, I just wanted to smile! I love how you didn’t just teach him how to sew, but the safety measures and why. Kids always end up asking why they shouldn’t do something, so I’m glad that you took that factor into account.
Oh my goodness that is so adorable!!! He really is so careful!!! Bless him! Well done to your fir teaching so well and well done him for being a good listener!!! X
Bendiciones!
He is so adorable and very smart. He has the cute voice and did a great job of showing his camera friends around the machine. Great job both of you - what an awesome team you make.
God bless you young lady, that's your gift, to open up a sewing class for children. I stumbled across this video and it's Amazing. New Generation of Entrepreneur. No limits to how far they can go. the next millionaire at ten. Way to go mom. He is awesome with the audience too. ADORABLE.
I have been watching your tutorials for a very long time, but this was the cutest tutorial ever! It is great to see how patient you are with your son. Thank you for sharing this experience.
The Joy of Learning! I saw a very sharp little fellow with great ability to learn and interact. My two brothers sew, bake, hunt, fish and love all things technical. They have built cars, home, computers, applications, etc. They are all around engineers! I love that you are encouraging him to learn what he is interested in and you are a great Big Sister, mama.:)
He is such a doll! This is great, when mine were young I did a lot of crafting with them. My eldest is an aspiring artist and has so much talent! The school of life is so valuable.
My seven year old wants to learn and I got her a basic kid sewing machine. But after seeing this I'm going to take it back and get a REAL one. She's starting a sewing class at school after Christmas. Thanks and your son is such a cute amazing little boy.
My 12 year old grandson was watching me quilt and he wanted to do one for his younger brother. I had some left over half triangle squares that he arranged and put together. He had some great ideas and I worked with him but he took the lead. Then I quilted it for him and he proudly gave it to his 10 year old brother. It was a fun time with him. He was so proud of himself and so was I proud of him. The seed has been planted so let's see what happens next. Loved your little boy and how well he worked with you. He is very good on camera. Congratulations Mama.
I just woke up and was thinking of teaching my six year old grandson to sew today so I watched this video. What a great way to start my day! Your precious boy is amazing! “Blood gonna drip all over”. LOL! I love this video so much!
He has been around you watching you sew He has learned a lot through watching you. He is a cutie . Just gave my ten yr. old granddaughter her own sewing kit to start her.
This is one of the cutest videos I've seen this year! And I love your approach to teaching him with "real" tools (scissors, sewing machine, etc). My 9 year-old son has become really interested in sewing, so this is the first video I came across, searching for tips to teach him. Thank you for posting this!
What a great way to teach a young child. Making him aware of the dangers, of using the right words, timing the project to his attention span... The way he talked proved that he really got the message and enjoyed it. What a cute little guy! Thanks so much, I will use your technique with my grandkids.
Was looking for a way to introduce sewing to my granddaughters. I love your videos and you have a very empowering, non-condescending way of speaking to your kids. Love it. Thanks.
OOOH EM GEE! That was sooooo cute. I don't know why I clicked on this video, but I'm glad I did. Kids are so precious! His little voice made my heart smile. Good job mom!
I love that you are teaching him this. I feel that a lot of parents are afraid to let their kids do real-world activities but they have to learn sometime! And you're right, it's good for them to practice being careful. Everyone gives me a hard time for letting my 3 yo use a real knife to help cut up the veggies for dinner but I figure I'd rather him learn to use it properly than to not learn- and obviously there is close supervision. :)
Felicidades,me inspiras.
So excited to see your little guy sewing! My great niece just asked me if I could teach her daughter to sew because they got her a sewing machine for Christmas. It’s been 40 years since I taught my own kids to sew and they were probably the age of your little man. Your tips are wonderful! I sat my own kiddos in my lap and had them place their hands on mine. I actually think they were still in diapers! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤
My 5-year-old daughter and I just watched this!! SO ADORABLE!!!!!! He is amazing...had us chuckling! My daughter really wants to try my sewing machine, and this was a perfect video for that! I hope you can do more! I love all your videos! Thank you! -Irene
I think it's wonderful that you have assessed your child's capability and your are teaching him versus limiting by age. Well done Mom!!! He is simply too adorable. A awesome Tailor in the making:-)
I just started sewing a few weeks ago and my 5 yr old son just loves sitting next to me and watching. He wants to learn with me! After watching this video, I am encouraged to start teaching him :) He is a great listener and very careful too!! Oh, this is going to be fun!!!
Your such a great mama!!! I just got my son a sewing machine because he saw me get one and teach myself how to sew so i did the same thing. Its so important for children to learn this skill. It would be great if all schools incorporated this skill into the curriculum because its really important.
omg this video was so sweet, that tiny king said "oh dear!" and it made my heart melt. my 6 year old just asked me to teach him to sew, thanks so much for the tips and the smile. i bet he's not quite this little anymore!
Your son is adorable!! He is a little instructor in the training 🤩 As a parent myself Who has been sewing for several decades and has taught many children ( besides my own) how to sew, I'm so delighted to see how you're nurturing his love of sewing. Your approach is very methodical, logical yet very easy going. I look forward to more of your videos!
I just saw this video, your son is so cute with his sewing machine. You are a awesome mom. This video reminds me of my granddaughter sitting on my lap your son's same age and sewing quilt squares. I told her the same thing keep your fingers away from the needle, letting her feel the sharp tip so she knew it would hurt if she put her finger in the (no fingers zone) we called it. She made herself a little doll quilt. She is now 16 years old and we still have that little quilt.
OH my how awesome is that..We take care of our 3 yr old gt grand daughter 4 days a week while her Mommy works...She has been sitting on my lap 'sewing' with me since she was about 18 months old... I've been on the hunt to get her her own machine...so we can sew together...She loves to sew...I haven't let her do it all herself yet...but after seeing this video and when I show it to her she will be sooooo excited to hav her very own REAL sew machine....thnx
He is so cuuute!!!! And I see that you are teaching him in spanish too. I'm from Colombia, and I began sewing just a few months ago, your projects have been so helpful for me, you are a great teacher. My mother always wanted to teach us how to sew but just until now (I'm 27) I'm really loving it. God bless you and your family. Muchas gracias por los vídeos, un abrazo!
I think it is great that you are teaching your son to sew. He is sooo cute and smart as can be. I taught my teenage daughter how to quilt last year. I think I overwhelmed her by doing too much too soon. I now know to do shorter sessions over time as you said. Lesson learned. Great video. Looking forward to watch little man learn to sew.
Oh my gosh he's the sweetest thing ever! ^_^ My Grandma taught me to sew that young too and it's the greatest thing I've ever learned, now I sew for a living :)
Thanks for this video! The little girl I nanny is eight years old and watched me sew her a face mask about a week ago and she’s been BEGGING to learn. I’ve decided to teach her tomorrow, and we’re both so excited! Also, your son has the best hair I’ve ever seen🧑🏾🦱 Cute as a button and smart as a whip!
Your son and daughter are the most precious children ever he knew what a presser foot was before I knew awww and im 17 I started sewing last year I didn't know what anything was on my sewing machine
Thanks again for sharing a wonderful video. I am glad to see you passing this great skill to the next bespoke tailors, designers and innovators. Oh yes, he is ADORABLE!!!
He is a very intelligent and quick-learning little one! You must be one proud mama! Can't wait until the day I have children to show them how to sew :)
God Bless You & your sweet lil boy! "Camera Friends" is just the cutest, sweetest thing Ever! Thank You so much for all of your videos, They are such an inspiration & I have been so inspired by you & your family & all of your videos that I am now trying to learn everything that I can about sewing & canning & gardening please please please keep the videos coming, I am going to need all the help I can get.
That was the most adorable sewing video I have seen. He is so adorable. Thank you for sharing him with us. And thank you for the great tutorial on teaching children how to sew.
Vanessa, Jonathan is sooooo cute, he is so careful. I think we will hear a lot from him in the future if he keeps up the way he is going. Great job teaching him. I love the relaxed style, kids learn so much better that way. Love love love it!
I just thought this was sweetest thing ever...now that my grand baby is 4 and pretty smart, I am going start teaching her too...thanks alot for this he was very good!
I appreciate this video along with many of your others. After not sewing since being a teen, I have returned to sewing and crafting recently. After watching this adorable video, it has inspired me to also teach my soon to be 3 year old daughter to also take up the craft once I purchase her a similar machine for herself. You provided extra safety tips and ideas which were helpful so no judgment here for starting him off early. AMAZING! Thank you.
Such a beautiful video! Teaching young children independence and confidence especially at a young age is foundational. I do much the same with cooking/baking with my children. Love.
Vanessa, you are a great mom and teacher for you sweet little son. I always enjoy your tutorials and look forward to future ones. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for sharing The achievement your son is making in life! Today I plan to teach my granddaughter and grandson who are six how to sew! It’s becoming a lost art and I’m happy to see others teach their children how to sew, great job mom❤🙋♀️🇨🇦
This just made my whole year!!! He is amazing b/c you are amazing!!! The love he receives from you is just spewing out of him From Mommy to Mommy YOU ROCK!!
Adorable! I think he has been watching your videos too. I just started to teach my 5 year old grand daughter to use the sewing machine. She did very well on her first lesson. It amazes me what our little ones can do when we let them. (with a lot of supervision of course) I am going to let her watch this when she comes over. Thank You.
10 years ago! He's grown! My 13 year old grandson sewed his first project this past year. He made a pocket pillow! I'm so proud of him. When he asked why he needed to learn to sew, I told him because I wouldn't be around to sew for him forever and his future wife might not sew. I got the biggest grin from him!
That was just incredible. What a great mom you are, and your son is so smart and precious. Nine years ago! Now I have to find out what you two are up to now...
Aww...you are SUCH an awesome mom! Who says teaching children should be paced. He's so smart.
It is rare that anyone will ever experience anything as cute and adorable as that!!!! He is brilliant! Great job mama! Keep up the good work!
Scott Coleman Awesome! I love to hear that. Kudos to you! :)

@Chantel Randleas I know this question is a couple of years old but in case anyone else was wondering, she did say it was NOT a childs sewing machine.
He is so sweet, I am glad that you're teaching him this skill. And I love your disclaimer too.
Know your kid that's the key to a lot of things.
Love that you are teaching him early! He will have such a great outlet as he gets older!! AND he is the cutest little guy EVER! Thanks for the tips, and happy sewing!

I just came across this and sooo loved seeing your son sewing at 3!! Super cute and what a great Mum you are. 👍😘😘
Wow! He's such a sweetie. You did an awesome job teaching him and he's knowledgeable. My daughter will be 7 in February and she requested a sewing machine for her birthday
This was so adorable! Loved his way of describing what could happen if his fingers came close to the needle when sewing

OMG! That has to be the cutest sewing video I've ever seen! What a wonderful memory you have documented, Vanessa! You AND Juice are awesome! xo
You are doing an amazing job instructing him! And, he is so intelligent...so adorable!
This is adorable. It is amazing to me that your son could sew at 3! You’re an amazing mom and teacher!!
Wow...I don't know what to say except wow. You and your son are so adorable and fun to watch. He is so small, but he really does seem ready to sew.

Your son is so adorable and so smart. Fashion designer in the making.
Oh my goodness! He is so adorable and so smart!!!!!!!! I love it when he says" Oh dear!" You are such a good mama!
AMAZING! Thank you.
This is beautiful, Ms Vanessa! My mom taught me when I was 5yr old. And now I am 45yr old, sewing is a gift that keeps on giving. God bless!
Thank you so much for sharing your adorable son with us. You are an inspiration. Please share more as he grows.
Thank you for sharing The achievement your son is making in life! Today I plan to teach my granddaughter and grandson who are six how to sew!
It’s becoming a lost art and I’m happy to see others teach their children how to sew, great job mom❤🙋♀️🇨🇦
PS. What did you use to bring the foot pedal up to his level?
You are a lovely mother and show great understanding of your son's style of hands on learning.
This just made my whole year!!! He is amazing b/c you are amazing!!! The love he receives from you is just spewing out of him From Mommy to Mommy YOU ROCK!!
He is so cute. He's going to be a pro at it just like his mom. Good job Vanessa. Love it!
You are an awesome teacher and your children are blessed to have you.
