Drawknife Restoration

- I got a rusted out old drawknife at Seattle Community College Wood Technology Center's annual tool swap. I thought I'd try out a technique I'd seen other use to remove rust, using vinegar. A couple handles, a HUGE amount of sanding and filing, and now I've a usable drawknife.

Good job sir. Thanks for giving an older tool a second life.
I just got a drawknife from my great grandpa. The handles are loose, but I dont have access to a lathe to replace them. You did a very good job. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
I have brought several drawknives back to life. One way of fitting the handle to the blade is to drill, but do the final fitting by heating the tangs with a blowtorch and tapping the handle in place but removing it before it burns too much, then gluing with epoxy or polyester. BTW, some drawknives work better bevel up, some bevel down.
Very good restoration 👍👍👍👍
Good video. You did a good thing restoring that knife. Thanks.
Thanks! It turned out to be more laborious than I had anticipated, but it's satisfying to give new life to an old tool.
nice job. one comment, you should use the knife the other way up, with the bevel on the underside.
+Glyn Tutt I'll give that a try!
Damn, wish I could file that quick
Use some copper plumbing caps instead of the old ones.
Looks familiar...
Why so dam fast ???
Too fast for me
