    Your high tunnel garden is beautiful. That cold front coming in is looking detrimental for our gardens, ugh!!! I got a few seeds started and they are breaking through the soil👏👏. My plants in my covered raised beds are doing great; carrots getting close and the sugar snap peas are finally blooming (just about gave up on them blooming- the plants are really healthy looking- just no blooms🤷‍♀️). We may be having some sugar snap peas this week🤞🏼. Yay for gardening successes ❣️

    You can throw and weight down a couple old cloth bed comforters over your outside garden beds overnight on the night(s) you get teen temperatures. If you also have rain or it's wet, put a plastic or tarp over the cloth bed covers. If you have some old bricks or flat rocks, put them around the plants in the garden during the day so they can absorb heat. Then leave them in place when you cover the beds at night. I got my basil plants through 20° temps with much lower wind chills for 3 months past our frosts/freezes doing this until I forgot one night. Thankfully by then, I had harvested the majority of it. Layers of clothes keep you warm. Layers of old bedding and plastic also keep all but the most tender plants warm through the night.

      Hi Cindy, in a nutshell wicking tubs are plant containers with a refillable water reservoir and air space in the bottom.
      About 15 to 20% of the soil is in contact with the water, which creates a wicking effect throughout the soil in the container. Here’s Leon’s channel, he has a bunch of videos explaining the wicking tubs in detail: ua-cam.com/channels/SDYs9sd2_BlLuWSiEr7TJQ.html

    Hi, love your videos just wondering what kind of fertilizer are you using?

    • @ntxg
      @ntxg  3 роки тому +1

      Hi CYAN. We are using epsom salt, nitrogen, gypsom and a 10-10-10 for onions right now. Thank you so much for watching. I will have hubs update more when he gets up.

    • @ntxg
      @ntxg  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Cyan, I’m using Leon Sloan’s recipe.
      Fill wicking tub half with soil and add:
      2 TBSP Gypsum
      2 TBSP Epson salt
      ½ cup sustain
      ¼ cup sea mineral
      2 TBSP Agricultural limestone
      Now add the rest of your soil.
      I’m starting everything with either a 10-10-10 or 20-20-20.
      After about 3 weeks I’ll adjust the fertilizer to fit the plant.
      For example, onions garlic and lettuce get a high nitrogen mix. Tomatoes and peppers will get a low N, high phosphorus and potassium blend.
      Here’s Leon’s channel, he has a bunch of videos on his fertilizer mix: ua-cam.com/channels/SDYs9sd2_BlLuWSiEr7TJQ.html

    • @ntxg
      @ntxg  3 роки тому

    • @allymichael1609
      @allymichael1609 3 роки тому

      @@ntxg I used to live in Cleburne. We moved to Azle a year ago and the way my half acre is situated, the city won’t let me put a tall fence around the area that I can grow a garden in. The rest of my lot is shaded with 100 year olds oak trees. My neighbors decided to put a feeder out and it’s ruining my life. The deer eat everything. I mean EVERYTHING! I’m going to pay $350 to apply for an variance to get the fence. I have no idea if it will be approved. I’m at my wits end.

    • @ntxg
      @ntxg  3 роки тому

      Oh Ally...I am sooooo sorry. I bet you are at your wits end. I will pray you get your variance so you can put up a fence. In the mean time look into an electrical wire that goes around your garden. Do keep me posted and let me know if you get your garden going.
