    Such a great feel good video. Its funny how sometimes the smallest things in life, bring us the greatest joy. I am obsessed with compost. Back when we lived in a remote area, we use to run a salmon hatchery and i had to feed fish 9x a day. I would keep a buck and shovel on the back of my quad and pick up bear poop off the road along the way (we had a ton of bears there) I had the best compost pile ever. Love this video, love you little flags in the greenhouse and I love how happy you are.

    So happy to hear from you 😁 I couldn't help but laugh when you were sniffing your compost!! I'm really excited to see you get your babies in the ground. Question. Have you done anything more regarding the clay problems you had last year with your tomatoes?

    • @LittleMountainRanch

      I was just thinking about that yesterday. I'm going to add some peat to looses it up a bit and also not bury the plants so deep. I think it's just going to take a few years to get it just right.

    Wow I'm surprised your weather is warm enough to put out peppers and tomatoes in the high tunnel. I'm in Ottawa and were still getting some nights below freezing. Its been so cloudy and rainy, at least the snow is finally gone!

    • @LittleMountainRanch
      @LittleMountainRanch  3 роки тому

      We are too, but I'm pushing it this year. I'm going to have to have supplementary heat and frost protection. It's going to be tough and go for the next 2 weeks!

    I get horse manure that's aged. It looks like rich dark soil. I barely have weeds. Some people think eww. I'm like oh yeah...manure.

    Great information on setting up your high tunnel for another year. Could you tell me where you sourced your shade cloth please.

    So with regards to NPK .. the manure obviously gets you the N .. but for tomatoes you also really want a decent dose of potassium (K).
    How do you get that into the cows and pigs to have it end up in the manure?

    • @LittleMountainRanch
      @LittleMountainRanch  3 роки тому

      Great question and I have no idea! 😊 I just feed compost and my tomatoes do great so it must be getting in there somehow.

    Why not open the doors and drive the compost in there? Is your tractor too wide to do that? I'm excited for you to get planting!!

    • @LittleMountainRanch
      @LittleMountainRanch  3 роки тому +2

      My small tractor doesn't have a bucket and the large on won't fit. The dream is a skid steer so I can do this kind of work myself throughout the year.

    • @LittleMountainRanch
      @LittleMountainRanch  3 роки тому

      That’s a hard one... It I had to only pick on it would be tomatoes, but squash are a close second.
