Yes, I would have stopped. I'd pulled up and open window and asks what's the problem. I'D still be in my vehicle, motor running, that way I could drive off if need be. If I felt unsafe, I'd drive off and call the cops. Saying that a lady was broken down on the side of the road. Yes, I know bad things can and do happen. I also believe, that's there still a lot of good kind people out there. Like I know most of you are. Be cautious not afraid.

I wonder if anyone knew the lady who drove by her. Last yr my daughter was on her way into town, we also live out in the country, and she had her two babies with her when she hit a deer. She called me right away. While I Was out there with her and the kids on the side of the road waiting for the tow truck, a sheriff and 2 of our next-door neighbors drove by and never stopped. The neighbors later said they figured I was with her, so we must have been OK. We were, but I think it's common sense if you know the person, to see if they need any help!

I travel quite a bit to visit my children & grandchildren. I drive up to 10 hours by myself, & I am 69 years old. My children have “find my friend (in this case, Mama)” on their phones, so they know exactly where I am on my journey. Also, I am a member of AAA for $75.00 per year. They will send help 24 hours a day as long as a member is in the vehicle; it does not have to be my vehicle. I would prefer to call 911 than have someone stop to help me; just afraid of who might stop.

We keep backpacks full of necessities in each vehicle in case we break down or have to walk any distance. Unfortunately, I would not feel safe stopping for anyone these days. It's a terrible thing to have to make that decidion.

Unfortunately our Texas is not the same Texas we grew up in. Even up to 10 yrs ago, I wouldn't have thought twice about stopping. Now I always have my handgun within reach and very rarely stop. I have picked up a gentleman that I see walking into town almost every day and driven him to the local store a couple times, but always told my hubby before I pulled over (and we now know where he lives). My hubby and I have stopped and helped elderly change a tire a couple times as I know first hand how hard it is to get those lug nuts loose. But, we're cautious, always armed, and never walk up to a car window or a car that's near wooded areas where others could be hiding waiting to attack. The world is getting very scary and I believe we have to be careful. But I also believe that, when God tells you to stop and help, you should listen to Him. We can't let fear completely rule us and our actions. All that said, she should've called for help and so should the people that drove by her. And always ALWAYS have cash on hand! God bless from Celeste Texas 🙏🏻❤️

As a law enforcement officer I wouldn't recommend stopping. There are too many variables at play and the situation may not always be as it appears. Even if it is, you are most likely parking your car on the side of the road and endangering yourself and others. Multiple first responders are killed yearly when struck by oncoming traffic. Just call 911 and inform that agency what you have observed and let them handle it.

I would think someone like this wouldn't think to be prepared. As it is, she can't blame ppl for being cautious. She should have called the police if she had no other way around. Glad she was able to get out of her situation and then get to a computer. I hope she will find a way to be more prepared for situations like that in the future. Our go- to should not be to expect others to help.

I don't like crap in plastic bottles, packages. They are not healthy storage containers. I have a couple of emergency backpacks in my car for both myself and if my dog happens to be with me---plus carry a good quality stainless steel water bottle which I clean and refresh regularly. I also have an umbrella, poncho, extra hats. But, really good video today. FOLKS, PREPARE. Prepare your Home and have Preps already on hand in your car that can just "live" in the car. I have extra clothing, a very good first aid kits, long-term snacks (like peanuts) and water.

Jill years ago, our car broke down in Oklahoma, and we had two kids with us. We were on the side of the road for 5 hours before my dad was able to get there with a tow bar, to haul us home. During that time, we had 2 state troopers drive by and never stopped to check on us. Thank goodness we had some drinks and snacks with us in the car. Now, we did stop one year on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, we had passed a car with a hood up and jumper cables out. I told my husband that they had kids with them. So, we turned around and he was able to jump them off, but told them not to turn their car off till they got where they were going, because it sounded like the alternator was going out. But, now we are leery of helping anyone with some of the high jackings going on.

I know sister! We must be careful. When my truck broke down last year, a sheriff started driving down the road and I got in the middle of the road and waved him down. Greg wasn’t answering his phone and so I had him come to the house and tell Greg.

Well...if she was waving a flag, I would have taken the precaution to make sure my doors were locked, pulled over, crack the window just enough to have a conversation to see if she was okay and determine what kind of help she needed (maybe she didn't have a phone on her).
If it were me on the side of the road, I'd call for help, hunker down, lock the doors, as I have had a scary situation in the past, when folks stopped for nefarious reasons (unsuccessfully). Another reason I would have stopped to protect her from a similar experience.

Always keep a towel and umbrella in my car. Umbrella helps in Texas hot Sun. Also a fire extinguisher because I’ve helped others with cars on fire. And a window breaker in my glove box (high/rising water or cut seat belt off). I would have pulled off the road a little further up and called 911. I also would have paid for her wrecker if she couldn’t afford (after emergency help arrived). I certainly would have picked up the young lady at 4;30 a.m. (I am 66 YO female). Thanks for helping her NTVG.

I would have never left an elderly woman on the side of the road without asking if they needed something. Living very rural we have been in that position and i have stopped and asked. That being said, im disabled and physically cannot do much and would have not gotten out of my vehicle, but would have asked to call the city or county to come out and see to her safety if she wanted. When we stopped the time before i asked if i could get her anything because it was a young woman stranded roadside in the heat with no money. She was going to walk home. We went to a nearby dollar general and got the drinks that she asked for and some food things to tide her over for a few days and drove back to give them to her - because she said her grandmother would be there in a few days to help her.
There are ways to help and keep yourself safe. We cannot allow them to remove our humanity and take away the love that Christ asked of us to have for our brothers and sisters. We can be wise as serpants and meek as doves.
As far as this woman, it sounds like she just wanted to be insulted because thats a long time to suffer just because she didnt want to call for help. She is only 10 years older than myself and my mom who is 75 would definitely have started making some calls because every minute counts in this Texas heat!
    God bless your family! 🌷💗

On a country road I would call 911 for the person. I would not stop. I might stop a little ways away to wait for the police to arrive. In town I have stopped to crack my window and ask if they need help. Usually they have a cell phone and someone is already on their way to help. If not, I’d call 911 for them.
If I’m stranded, I’m prepared and wouldn’t want strangers to get out and approach my car.

It is not just this day and age. Forty years ago my husband and I lived in Florida. There had been multiple verified incidents of folks getting hijacked and or their kids getting kidnapped while stopping to help someone apparently stranded by the side of the road. The local news stations were issuing warnings to let folks know that they should not stop to help. They should proceed to the local police or fire department and report the issue. There were not a lot of cell phones back then!
Thanks for the info on car emergency items. I'm going to go out and get some of those items this weekend. I do have an ice scraper. Everyone laughed at me for carrying that around, but they all wanted to borrow it from me this past winter! Stay cool!

No I would not stop - and I also am 66 with grey hair. Agree to call for help/report. I live in Chicago area so we have to be prepared for hot weather and frigid temps. Leaving home without fully charged phone and season appropriate snacks, water, umbrella, blanket, shovel, kitty litter (added traction for stuck in icy snow) etc. I’m a retired RN and no longer stop due to getting bum rushed and robbed (accident victims robbed too). To avoid furnishing help when I’m capable feels terrible and certainly goes against personal values. However the world we are in has created so much chaos and fear.

One day my husband and I were driving down the highway and saw a woman with 3 little girls walking in the weedy ditch. The mother was carrying the littlest. The weeds were as tall as the kids. Out in the country in Georgia. It was hot to. I made my husband stop. Her car had broke down and she was about 4 miles from home. I told them to get in and we drove them home. She was extremely grateful and I know her husband was. The shoe was on the other foot with her. She had no idea who she was putting her kids lives into the hands of. You never know what people are going to do. I couldn't bear the thought of one of them kids getting snake bit or covered in ticks.

I have told all my nieces & nephews to not stop if you see someone broke down but always, always call 911 and report where the person needing help is located. I live in Southern California and thought I might be the only one on here, being a hardened city dweller, that said it was a big no. LOL Having said that, I think that we can be cautious, street smart, and also love our neighbors. I would have been sure to call 911 or roadside assistance for her. I really would not have wanted a stranger to stop for me unless it was truly life threatening. I would have felt more vulnerable at that point. Having said that, there have been times that I called for a tow truck and it still took nearly 4 hours for one to show up. Luckily I was in a shopping center and it was still light out. It definitely pays to be prepared.

I understand that many people are reluctant to pull over to help, because of safety issue. The general population no longer trust each other.
If stranded on the road call 911, call the road side assistance, let you love ones know, always have bottles of water in your trunk, and other emergency supplies.
Because lawlessness( goodness taken advantage, robbery, murder, etc.)is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. Matt. 24:12
Our society’s love really has grown cold. We call it today “trust no one.”

What a woman 👍🏼. Totally agree with you Jill. I’m an old timer now but I was a Boy Scout when I was young. I was taught to “Be Prepared”. Each of us must assume responsibility for our own safety in all situations and each of have to make our own decisions about our own safety. However, it is incumbent on each of us as decent people to do what we can safely do to help others in times of need and that assistance is different for each of us.

We were poor as church mice and couldn't afford a tow truck either. We just started walking down the highway until we came to a store, but it was a very long walk. Typically I call my husband. If he is in a meeting and his phone is off, he has his phone set so that if I text 911, it goes through immediately. I’m typically not too far from home. We only use that when it is an actual emergency. Too much going on in this world to risk your safety.

While it is true that we live in a very dangerous time it is also true that we have access to technologies that make her choices reckless on her part. Sometimes, there is no one coming to help - you are your own first responder. Prepare accordingly.

There are times I stop to help, and times to know when NOT to stop and help. First off, I do help when its a woman and she is alone. I can deal with that. If she has a man with her, I leave them alone. If it is a man, he is on his own. If they have a phone, they need to use it! If her car insurance don't have road side service, she needs to find a new insurance. I don't owe you anything. If I get a feeling that God would have me do something, so be it. Keep a road side emergency kit in the car AT ALL TIMES! If you are in the middle of the DESERT--why would YOU NOT HAVE ANY WATER IN THE CAR? Please. Food, water, blanket, sterno can, medical kit, cell phone, recharger unit, portable tire inflater with tire repair canister, flares, lighter, knife, flashlight and raincoats. Sorry nobody stopped for her however, if she refuses to call 911, then she is a Karen. This means she didn't have a bit of care for her own life. That is sad.

It's best as a citizen to simply call 911 and report a stranded motorist. As far as citizens we need to remember that it is our responsibility to be prepared for whatever might happen. That's my 2 cents.😊

When you deposit money into the bank you are considered a debt holder of the bank. They have lawful right to bail in your deposit to save themselves. Laws were passed after the 08 crisis. Takeout what you can’t afford to lose. Happened in Cyprus years ago (03?) where they took something like 70% of the money to save the bank and people were never made whole.

I hate to say, but I used to stop for people in need all the time. But now, at the age of 54, and even as a man 250 pounds, the first thing I consider is if I'm carrying. And that may not even be safe enough. I feel guilty sometimes, but that is the way things have changed.

I highly recommend a briefcase sized safe with a key not electronic entry we bought one from Home Depot and it's safe up to 1700 degrees in a fire or 3,400 ft in a flood, you put our dollar bills in Ziploc with silica gel packs because for some reason even though this is fireproof and waterproof the dollar bills get moist.

Whatever unexpected circumstance we find ourselves in our mantra should ALWAYS be YOYO ( youre on your own ) no one is going to rescue you-you must be your own rescuer. If you live in a hot climate like Texas there is NO REASON not to have a case of water and electrolytes in your vehicle as well as your cell phone. Karens always put the blame of others for their lack of responsibility sadly.

Some gray haired grandma types have a big old son or grandson hiding in the bushes to jump you, too! That happens. Also, she should have called 911. That is FREE!! If you don't have money (or a credit card) for a tow truck, then you should NOT be driving, especially in the heat, or the winter cold. Sounds like she expects people to just rescue her. And what kind of awful person is she, for cursing and acting like a spoiled brat? Call 911, Lady, or STAY HOME! You had a cell phone!!! The police will come get you for free!! The gall of some people is astounding!!

I would not stop for anyone or anything. Decoys are an old trick of the devil…If you get out on the road in a car you better have roadside assistance on your auto insurance. You better also have a cellphone with you so you can at least call 911. The 911 operator you reach can instruct you who to call to come and get you. I wouldn’t want a rank stranger stopping if I had been that lady.

My husband got AAA because I went to the store and I was behind a small red Truck that had no rear view mirror and a SUV behind me . The Red truck missed their turn ,without looking she backed into me and the car behind went around and didn't stop. The red truck was more worried about he car insurance. I sorta expected the police officer to tell her she needed to get the rear view mirror fixed but he didn't ,but I did . It only bent my Tag I have on the front. You never know what will happen or what the person will tell or do.

Nowadays when I see someone broke down on the road, I call 911 to report it. I don't stop personally. I let those who are qualified to do such things do them. My (and your) tax dollars pay for this, supposedly. If I was a mechanic, or maybe even a big strong young man, I *might* think differently. Having been born a slight female and lived my life as one for over 60 years, I know better than to put myself in certain situations. Yes, the decoy is a tactic used by ill-meaning people for at least as long as civilations have existed. I'm a Texan and my heart is as big as this beautiful state, but I'm also not stupid. If I was mean, I wouldn't bother to make the call to authorities for these people.
I have a step son that has worked for a tow company for years. He's been lured to help people and then help up, or they attempted to hold him up on multiple occasions. He's a big burly young man, and he carries at all times. It's always been a dangerous world, but it's now the type of dangerous world where evil-doers often go unpunished, which further emboldens them.
All of my canned broths are "bone broth", and I guess they always were. I know I use at least 2-3 jars of broth a week in my cooking, so I aim to have at least 100 jars on hand at all times, with regular replenishment as I make and can up more. Rotate these! Rotate everything, but especially your meat, fish, and dairy items. I've been working on freeze drying my own "instant" broth granules/powder. Defatting the broth isn't so hard, but it still keeps a lot of the fats in emulsion and the high collagen content makes it even harder to get something that I feel comfortable with being shelf stable for more than a few weeks, if that. Any tips?
I've been largely MIA from social media for a while. Just had to make a break and get some things in real life taken care of. Hope y'all are content and well. Always much love to you!

If I lived in Texas i would need to have some service like we have in NY state : AAA Travel Insurance. Every year it is $5.00 more expensive than the year before but it is still under $ 100.00
They rescued my this past march when my Battery died. right infront of my Dentist's office parking lot. Boy was I grateful for the wonderful Hispanic young man who came prepared with new battery to install as I told the dispatcher that it was the battery.
Second Water and a UV protection Umbrella !! and a Charged Cell phone to call somebody for help! That is when you want Cell phone service! I don't think I would stop for her either ,but I would call the State Police to let them know she had car trouble on a fast Highway! It is not safe in good times to be Unprepared. Do not stop, but yes call for help to tow them to get Service. Surely she has watch the news about how everyone is afraid of illegal personality/ types ready to scam the Good Samaritan ! Sounds like an entitled " Karen" !

I think every situation is different. I agree with you, I would have called in the stranded lady. BUT, if you do decide to call in, note details. This is for 2 reasons. If the situation was in fact real, you have given information that the officers would be needing. IF it was a set-up, you would be giving the officers information that would needed. Color of the car, approximate age, appeared alone, tags if you saw them. What was she doing, wearing, ANY details that you see, and tell them why you did not stop. Why is all of these details important? Situational awareness!
AS for the bank...UGH! Folks, While you are getting a couple of extra cans of food, get 5 bucks for the sock drawer! If you have ever had to wait for payday to get gas, food you understand from that alone! But, isn't any of the crap going on in this world, NOT enough in itself, for us to go one more step to ensure that we have 5 bucks for gas, so WE won't get caught, out of gas at 0430? I learned the hard way, these are trying times, and my reliance on others to even want to help, just might not come. We now have cash on hand, and will add as we can...Thanks Jill. Excellent video.

I'd prefer to know terrain/setting of that road before answering but most likely id've stopped, especially if I was a local. I've stopped to help countless along tx roads. I'm 99% sure that one was a trap and I thank God I'm here to comment. Pre-cell phone era. Takeaway from that is scope the terrain, dont turn your back, dont appear as soft target and someone not paying attention to surroundings.

100% agree, both my husband and myself would not stop. So many out there who would rather lash out instead of take responsibility for their own safety. Hopeful once she settles down this woman realizes she has learned a valuable lesson?? Sounds like no. On a related preparedness note, people should see all the FB posts on our neighborhood and county pages post-Beryl about the FEMA claims, oh my goodness. The hours long hold times, unknown wait times on payments, absolutely terrible times for those who really think the big "G" has their backs. Really appreciate seeing the law enforcement comment on this video too. Love ya right back!!🥰🤗

A while ago I took an elderly woman home from a grocery store because she could not find her car in the parking lot and she didn't seem like a threat at all. Turned out she forgot she walked to the store! But today I would likely not let anyone in my car I don't know.

I think I might have stopped for an old lady but I’m 64 and don’t consider that old. Maybe I’ll feel different in 2 years. If she couldn’t have paid for a tow I’m not sure what she wanted the passerby to do. Drive her home? Maybe if it was on the way but it would be hard for me to let a stranger in my car and if I were the one stranded it would definitely be hard for me to get into a strangers car. I don’t think I would do that unless I was absolutely desperate.

Ir's tough when someone has car trouble and can't afford a tow. Should she have not been out if she couldn't afford to pay if her car broke down? So sad to see someone, an older person that doesn't have money, they are facing retirement with no savings. It doesn't get better.

  • @deltorres2100
    @deltorres2100 25 днів тому

Yes, I probably would’ve called the police to have them go out and help her. It is sad with the day and age these days but I’m near 60 and I have three grown kids with families and I always worry about them so now whenever holidays come like you know Christmas I don’t buy Gifts that I buy practical gifts so last year I bought all my three boys and my granddaughter who is 20 I bought them AAA member and they run off of my membership. I have a AAA now none of us son has a new vehicle but the others all have older vehicles like mine is probably 2015 but AAA is very important and I think I’ve been with them about eight years Because you just never know when you’re gonna break down or something and you need to be ready so I don’t do gifts that are just. I think that I do gifts that are needed. Maybe my Grandbaby buy her a lot of stuff but other than that I’ll do Home Depot gift cards maybe Mister Car Wash gift card for sure I do the tuna gift cards for the kids And they know I may buy them something small that’s nice but other than that it’s practical practical gifts now are very important because people don’t take the time to get those things. It’s important to buy a AAA membership they don’t cost much is under $100 for the year Was stupid. I was spending money like that and now that I’m older I realize,, save, save save because you never know what’s gonna happen and you’re gonna need 🫶🏽
