TRIP REPORT | First Time on Etihad A380! | London to Abu Dhabi | ETIHAD Airbus A380

- Etihad Trip Report flying from London to Abu Dhabi onboard one of the Etihad Airbus A380 on a beautiful winter day.
A very comfortable flight from London Heathrow to Abu Dhabi Terminal A (the brand-new one in Abu Dhabi) on the Etihad Airbus A380. The flight was absolutely fully booked but still, as we flew on the most spacious plane in the world, the journey was pretty comfortable.
After a quick exploration of Heathrow Terminal 4 as well as a brief planespotting session, we boarded the Airbus A380 that would take us to Abu Dhabi. We took off towards the west and quickly made a 180° turn to start our route to Abu Dhabi.
We initially flew over the UK and crossed the English Channel. We left Amsterdam on our left and entered Germany. Here is where we spotted the first snow: Germany was completely under the snow. We continued towards Austria, Hungary, and Romania. We then crossed the Black Sea towards Turkiye.
We crossed all Turkiye from Northwest to Southeast, enjoying very nice views of all the mountains and coastline. We then reached the border with Iraq and flew over the Zagros Mountains. After crossing all the country we entered the Persian Gulf, flying already in direct course to Abu Dhabi, where we landed after a beautiful night approach.
About the catering service, I have mixed feelings... the quality and taste weren't bad, but the quantity was reduced. It didn't feel special at all, that's how I would describe it. While it would be an amazing meal on almost every European airline, on Etihad... well, you expect more I guess. [On my connecting flight departing from Abu Dhabi the catering was extremely better, so I guess it is a problem with a bad catering provider in London].

Great video! I can't be the only one who thinks that Etihad has the best-looking A380's. The livery, the seats, and even the lavs all look really elegant. The views were also great (I really enjoyed seeing both the Alps and the Zagros covered in snow).
Oh, and, I just realized that everything shown in this video was the polar opposite of what we saw in this week's video. The landscapes, type of airline you flew on (full-service vs. LCC), aircraft, and duration of the flight (long-haul vs. short-haul) are all exact opposites in these 2 videos :)

Exactly. Actually you're the first one that noticed it, or at least that wrote it: there was some kind of intention of making the "contrast" between this type of airline and Cebu. Not to compare them, but to see what those types of airlines have to offer...

Muy bonito el vídeo , me ha sorprendido en el Aeropuerto de Londres justo en el retroceso aparecer ese 747 cargo impresionante, y también me ha gustado los montes nevados son espectaculares y por último la nueva terminal de Abu Dabi se ve bastante cómoda y luminosa o será que la nueva cámara se ve muy bien. I want to compliment you on your editing. It's so clean and fresh. May I be bold and request some additional info in your videos ? I would love to see your face when you do the WC check. Also knowing the travel time for one place to the next is helpful as well as how the ticket was purchased in money ( cost ) or using mileage points. Keep up the good work. Wow another great video! I love it when you do A380 trip reports👍. I was at Toronto airport a couple days ago and while I was plane spotting before departure I saw a huge Etihad 777 getting ready for departure and immediately remembered your Etihad trip reports! How do you compare them to Emirates and Qatar Airways?

I would say they are still a little step behind... Emirates and Qatar are on the very top. Etihad is almost there, but not yet. The food on this flight for example wasn't great at all... something that doesn't happen with the other 2.
LHR is the bread and butter of ME3 airlines and the busiest route and EY catering is much improved too
Based on my experience, the catering loaded in Abu Dhabi is much better than the one loaded in London. But that's completely normal, almost every airline has better catering service flying from their hub than back to it.

Your new camera works very well. In fact, it kinda felt like a HD camera. It’s really cool to see the A380, specially on its exterior, cause you can see how big an airplane it is compared to the interior. I think the interior of the A380 is very nice, well. The funny thing I think about r the A380’s interior is to see a staircase, but that’s very good they have one. 😃✈️

¿Cuando vas a hacer un reporte de vuelo, desde el segundo piso del A380?. (Y, ¿Porque no también, desde el segundo piso del B-747?)
La verdad es que no me atrae en absoluto en ninguno de los 2 aviones: las ventanillas en el segundo piso tienen una inclinación hacia arriba y la vista hacia el suelo es más reducida. Ese es el motivo.
Great video. I was so pleased that EY reactivated some of its A380s. Would this have happened, I wonder, had the former CEO not quit (he's now with a new Saudi carrier) because the boss wanted to make EY a smaller boutique airline. Not longer the former CEO departed then the new management team decided to bring back the A380s !

Yeah! The A380 is always amazing for the passegners. it's by far the most comfortable plane you can fly.
The LH A380 will come to the channel in 2024, and hopefully the Korean Air and Asiana ones as well :))

Flown 4 times out of and into London on the a380. What a dream machine. Also thank you etihad for the upgrade to business class.
The A380 is an amazing plane. For recording, however, it's amonthe worst ones because the window is pretty far away from the seat. :)

You should do the route from Birmingham (UK) to Dubai, sometimes Emirates has an A380 or B777 operating them. Think it would be a good idea as you haven't been there in years

haha The main meal was clearly not the best one... and It's sad because on my connecting flight from Abu Dhabi, the catering was amazing! Just perfect, really. As I say on the video, looks like the catergin provider in the UK (at least for London flights) is clearly below the Abu Dhabi catering provider.

Well, I always book my seat because I need the window seat... I guess if you don't need any specific window, yo can wait until the check-in, when I think the seat selection is for free (I'm not 100% sure about this...).

The seat was the standard Etihad economy seat: very comfortable.
Excellent review as always. Etihad is a world class airline with excellent features onboard their aircraft. I was however wondering why anyone would use Abu Dhabi as a transit to the US, seems a long way of getting there, however if a fan of the airline I could understand people doing it

Your seat is one of Etihad’s extra legroom seats, which compared to regular coach seats gives you about 5” more pitch

@@OnBoardHD yup. On their A380, they’re on the bottom level in the forward economy cabin (rows 40-47) and bulkhead and exit rows afterwards. For reference, the 3D cabin tour on Etihad’s website says standard economy seats on both their A380s and 777s have 32” of pitch, which would give the extra legroom seats 37” at the most (excluding bulkhead and exit rows).

I think the US bound flights of Etihad still operate from the old terminal at Abu Dhabi.
Mmm As far as I know all flights depart from the new terminal, but I'll check it :)
@@OnBoardHD Yesh thats was the plan. But since US Immigration clearance is still located at Terminal 3, so US flights are still departing from T3. But yes they will also eventually move to new terminal. Maybe they already have but its not updated on EY's website yet.
