Paul Saladino knows lots about nutrition, but I always wondered what his brother had to say, John Beeferino.
😁
Beeferino would prolly be vegan
That dude is on a vegan diet, unhealthy as shit
This joke went way over the heads of their other two brothers, George and Ringo.
John isn't nearly as Stupid as Paul Saladino
Been following the UA-cam nutrition scene for over 10 years and I can safely say; all carnivores eventually start eating fruits and all vegans eventually start eating meat. We are omnivores.
Hell of a stretch to say "all", plenty of 10yr+ carnivores and vegans

Your statement is disingenuous for the vast amount of those communities. Although I will say vegan/vegetarians do suffer more than carnivores due to plant consumption on a longer timescale. But people like you just make excuses as to why you lack discipline, so better to badmouth others right?
We are not omnivores. All animals are opportunistic feeders. Every animal at the top of the food chain is a hyper carnivore. All your modern fruits are hybridized and nothing like the fruits our ancestors occasionally consumed. Much more sugar much less fiber. Humans are hunters.
I agree with you I have been down the rabbit hole and in the end everyone ends up eating omnivore or going downhill

It should be noted that there's tons of pure carnivores who have been eating close to 0 plants or carbs for many years longer than Saladino was doing it.
Why did Saladino have these symptoms and not these other people eating no carbs for far longer than he was?
One possibiltiy is that he was overdoing organ consumption. That is a major difference between how Paul was eating versus other long term keto people and there's some plausible bio-chemical pathways that could explain his symptoms.

Is 100g of healthy carbs enough? I have severe seborrheic dermatitis so far a less than 50g of carbs and no sugar have been very helpful to control it. Looking to increase my carb intake a lil for long term
Paul’s story is pretty interesting, clearly it works very well for him. People get quite upset when some experience positive effects from restrictive diets - but truth be told you’re best trying multiple diet structures and finding your own conclusions! Overall human data is a fantastic way to start studying nutrition and any science, but at the end of the day the best thing for you is your anecdotal evidence on YOURSELF
You can read 1000 papers on nutrition but unless you put that information into practice, you won’t know what’s best for you

Complete guide to testosterone by james Francis
Did eat fat& drink your electrolytes?
Yes and much much more. There is no one thing that will magically boost your testosterone.
My bowel movements improved by eating more fruits and veggies
Everything in your body improves because of you don’t eat them, you lose billions of necessary micro biomes.
Makes sense because fruits and vegetables contain good amounts of fibre. Low fibre diets, like carnivore and keto tend to be, mess up a lot of people's bowel movements.
@@dronepocket325no you don't
@dronepocket325 gut micro biomes eat fiber. Probiotics eat probiotics, are you stupid or what?
@@stoempert No they dont. Bowel movements simply become rare when the bioavailabillity of your food exceeds 99.9%. Meaning there simply is no waste to shit out. People get the meat flu by switching to carnivore immediately instead of easing into it and giving your body a chance to unfuck itself. Fibre is per definition non essential. We get 0 nutritional value from it, while it is CLEARLY linked to IBS and several other gut related diseases. All fibre does is suck up bile and fluids to make your stool large, its a filler for us that serves no purpose whatsoever. Thats why vegans have to shit multiple times per day. They only absorb 40-65% of their food. You can check out several RCT trials that show clearly how a complete reduction of fibre intake resulted in complete remission of IBS in ALL patients. In science, these kinds of clear cut finds are rather rare. And if you truly want to read up on how we became carnivorous , you should read the 2021 systemic review published in the american journal for biological anthropology called "The evolution of the human trophic level during the Pleistocene". The evidence is rather overwhelming to say the least.

He didn’t just now quit carnivore, he quit it in 2018. He’s been doing animal-based since then.
Cutting out plants for them being plants is ridiculous. Cutting out plants because certain types are sprayed with fungicides, pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers is a different story. I think maybe some of these issues are caused by the amount of chemicals pumped into commercially manufactured vegetables. Not necessarily the plant itself.
All organisms on earth have evolved defense mechanisms to avoid predatora and plants are no different having evolved defense chemicals.
Thats a reason to avoid some plants, other then how the plant is produced.
what do you think happens if you eat almonds straight off the tree
What you are all doing is stating some random micro details. You miss the forest by looking at the tree. If you want to figure out which is healthier you look at randomized controlled studies. Someone could say that animals also eat plants that are full of chemicals. Also for the reply someone could say that animals dont want to be eaten too. So you have to look at the studies and not just correlation studies but controlled ones too.
This is the order of studies
1.randomized controlled trials
2. correlation studies
3 animal studies

I was on carnivore for a year and experienced leg cramps a lot. I consumed a lot of salt and packaged electrolytes. That didn't help at all. I did loose weight but my strength in the gym dropped a lot and I was just feeling weak a lot. I decided to put on more weight to feel better. So I now just diet by lowering my calories and walking. I am back at the same weight as I did at the end of my carnivore diet and feel strong with no cramps and my body looks a lot better then I did. I feel so much better. I make sure I get all the protein I need first then I focus on the carbs and fats with in the my calories allotment. I will adjust my calories on the side caution. My calories look to be way to low but it is adjusted to the tolerance of + or - 20%. You just can't trust the calories in things you eat that are printed on packages or google. You can look up the same thing on google and get 3 different calories totals and they are way off.

Part of me thinks that initially a carnivore diet doesn’t hinder and probably helps things like free testosterone and electrolyte balance, especially if someone is overweight and or pre diabetic. BUT, then, after long enough, and looking like an inverted U shaped curve those levels start to bottom out.
Carnivore and keto can definitely be beneficial for most people. Whether or noy you should stay on it for long periods of time (or indefinitely) will vary from person to person.
In short: You are correct and there's legitimate science to back it up.
While it isn't really a diet, one of the most beneficial changes you can make that literally costs nothing is intermittent fasting. It will provide most of the benefits that most of these diets already claim to do

I think you feel better after adding fruits , cause they contain oxalates . After pure carnivore people experience oxalate dumping , that is what is messing your electrolites , sleep ness , heart arythmia , muscles crumps , weakness etc .
I had same symptoms after about 2 years carnivore , so I added honey and raw whole organic milk , but that didn't do anything to help my symptoms till I added black tea , dark chocolate which they are very high in oxalates .
Remember what Sally K Norton told you .

Why would a caveman walk by a blueberry while starving and say, I am a carnivore.
Turns out a balanced diet is best? Who’d have thought
Most people who claim to be in ketosis are usually not. I reversed all my cramping problems doing a keto diet (only beef). I only have about 1 tsp of salt a day (maybe a bit more if it's a hot day and I sweat a lot or I use the sauna). I have seen plenty of people doing a carnivore diet who are not doing keto macros and eventually run into problems so they start eating carbs.
I was a pure carnivore for 18 months and was also suffering from extreme cramping and heart palpitations. I added a few servings of fruit 8 months ago and everything cleared up.
I, like Paul, am super active. I have been going to the gym, hardcore, for 37 years and went into carnivore pretty healthy.
Paul was talking about kidneys holding electrolytes being the issue but I have another theory.
I think when we deplete our glycogen and have very few carbs to reload into the muscle after training, that the carrier for electrolytes into muscle are carbohydrates and the muscles just become depleted of electrolytes and hence the horrible, horrible cramping.
Why not just eat other whole plant food groups?
@@catalyst3713 Because plants and seeds engage in chemical warfare to protect themselves. Leaves and seeds have poisons and anti-nutrients. I'll pass. I'm thriving on meat, dairy and fruit. I'm good.
Were you drinking coffee or tea or alcohol? Seems the cramps can come from dehydration and any small amount of coffee or tea as well.
@@nigel7880 No coffee, tea or alcohol. I drink a lot of water. I'm thinking N=1. When I hear Paul talk about his issues I was almost exactly the same. My wife and I ate the same and she never had any of these issues. She doesn't work out much.
So for the people who want to eat strict carnivore.... why not just throw in a salad and couple pieces of fruit and nuts each day? Weight loss results will be virtually identical and youll have a much more balanced nutrient profile.
I cant eat a balanced diet, because its too calorie dense, i get fat, or my portions have to be so small im fuckin starving all day. Eating meat for every meal just the only method ive found to eat calorie deficit comfortably

My numbers are not plateauing or going backwards. Right now I'm pushing hard to try get to 10-12% bodyfat so I'm training hard and cutting the calories, it's not for ever.
@t_c5266 I think that's my next step I don't get this last 4 or 5lb of fat off. Right now I'm at like 15%bf, can only see abs if I'm tensing and they don't look dry. I think for ease of practicality, i might start doing half hour of running every day rather than tracking every calorie. I don't generally use sauces because they trigger my psoriasis (any alcohol, sugar, gluten or sweetners/ dyes trigger it). Tracking every calorie will be my last resort, it'll make the whole thing very not fun. If I have to do that, I'll calculate a diet and eat the same exact thing every day for a month.
I'm serious about this though, I'll do it if I have to, I'm getting to 10-12%bodyfat come hell or high water. Right now I'm eating approximately 2k calories a day
Love Derek, but this guy is a total fraud and has no idea what he's talking about, and has really messed a ton of people up with his advice. What a bummer.
Agreed
Layne Norton somewhere watching this rolling his eyes...😆
I have had A similar experience as Paul. For the life of me I cannot balance electrolytes when on either keto or carnivore. I've tried high protein to create that insulin spike Paul talks about, I've tried very high fat keto macros with low protein to minimize blood sugar spikes, taurine supplementation , reducing salt and everything in between. Im just not sure that this way of eating is the right path. A thought I've been stewing on lately is that most wild game animals are not fatty. So if we are truly high fat eaters I'm kind of confused as to where we would be getting this fat from when most animals do not contain nearly enough In proportion to muscle meat to drive ketosis. Bear meat and boar meat and some marine mammals do have enough fat for that context .I think that is why the northern poeples seem to do okay on this way of eating as they may be more generationally adatped to this higher fat diet. I think the stress levels of modern life put a higher mineral demand on the body and when I'm constantly dumping minerals due to low insulin we get so out of whack. I guess it's all about staying openminded enough to switch things up when they dont work anymore.
I've been studying nutrition for over 12 years and I've looked into all the diets: high carb, low carb, keto, carnivore, vegetarian, plant-based, mediterranian etc. and here's what I've found for optimal health:
Eat a variety of fresh, whole foods, mostly plants: beans, whole grains, vegetables(especially greens), fruit(especially berries), mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs, and spices. In that order, by volume.
When choosing produce, buy organic when it comes to soy, and anything that doesn't have a rind or peel, to minimize pesticide exposure.
Minimize/eliminate added salt, sugar, and oil in that order of importance.
If you do add salt, 50/50 sea or rock salt/ potassium chloride blend is preferable. Or try adding citrus juice to dishes.
If you do add sugar, raw honey, or whole fruit sweeteners like date syrup, or date sugar are preferable.
If you do add oil, avocado, olive, and coconut are preferable.
If you're going to eat animal products, make sure they're higher quality, pasture-raised/grass-fed, and leaner cuts.
Most people would benefit from taking daily:
1 brazil nut (for selenium)
250-500mg purified shilajit
3g creatine monohydrate
500mg algae-based EPA/DHA
2000-4000 IU vit. D3+K2
150 mcg kelp-based iodine
50+mcg vit. B12
The electrolyte issue might be caused by oxalate detoxing. Your body uses electrolytes and minerals to detox oxalates and when you go carnivore it stsrts doing it. For some this lasts foe years.
Primordial people ate bone marrow foe the fat. Our society is so distanced from nature we dont even remember that. People came to north in Europe 10 000 years ago and lived without agriculture foe 5000+ years. What did they eat in the winter which is most of the year? Low fat meat, organs and bonemarrow. There is nothing else to eat in the winter. One deer has 50 000+ calories if you count bonemarrow + meat.
There is not enough calories in anything you can eat without agriculture either, except maybe honey and nuts. Primordial fruits were low calorie stuff. The only explanation for human need for calories is bonemarrow. Peace.
Shocker! Eating all meat isn’t good for you. LOL
Shocker, eating carbs mainly or only is WAY WORSE than meat is/was or ever will be. LOL
@@bonesh0ckerz yea bro, no one is saying it isn’t lol
Tell that to the Inuit or Massai, or the Mammoth hunters of the Ice Age......
