They banned the word banter in my school because they thought it was just an easy cover for bullying. 😂 Which it was but who cares it’s all just banter
@@lacari0805 Did the same in mine lol. Instant detention for saying it. One new teacher didn't get the memo and said "I will not be having this childish banter in my class." Needless to say, the class lost it, overthrew the lesson and she was fired the next for not being able to control us
Yeah, the American version is a cringefest. I watched an episode of it - they actually try too hard to copy all the scenes word-for-word. I imagine a lot of it is lost in translation. It just wasn't believable. It could maybe have worked if it took a completely different direction, like The Office did. Same name, two very different series.
In fairness, it's missing the context of the running gag about Neil's dad being gay and also that they're drinking in that episode. Plus, Will is hammered and he generally doesn't act like that at all so the comedy of the outburst is lost if you don't really know the character.
'Ladhood' is a mini series that also encapsulates what it's like to be a teen in Britain. But starting from the ealry naughties. Recommended it if you like this.
@Carving Up Europe's Economy No he didn't get some things and didn't laugh or react to things a Brit would react to, it was made and intended for young British lads and its clear it doesn't have the same nostalgic effect on yanks or whomever else that may watch it.
@THE TWO FINGERED BRUTE: Yes but its made for the things we find funny, not what Americans find funny. Some American jokes in an american sitcom i wouldn't find funny whereas a yank would, they wouldn't have the same nostalgia, which the sweeteners is heavily based upon.
The inbetweeners is a legend of a show, it just perfectly represents the utter stupidity of most brits school years/ teens. We all relate [well I’m sure most of us do.]. There was a US remake, but I don’t think it really worked. [maybe you would feel differently]
They really made the actor who plays Will do some crazy stuff throughout the whole series. You have to watch the Fashion Show episode when you get the chance.
The part about snitching (grassing) where the teacher makes him say, "I tripped" is realistic. I went to school in England for 3 years and they take snitching super seriously. If you get a reputation as a snitch, you might as well switch schools, because you won't have any friends. And like in the clip, even the teachers don't respect a snitch. I really liked that about England, and couldn't believe how readily many Americans are to snitch, when I came back.
Ye grassing in a UK school is pretty much social suicide and I feel sorry for anyone being bullied because telling someone can often make it worse. Reminding the teacher about a homework they forgot about is a ticket to being unpopular for at least a day or two and like you say the teachers don’t appreciate it that much.
I absolutely love how much you two scream laughing at the same points that us English folk do. You honestly are responsible for making me love this all over again. Please please please dont stop.
Fun fact. Mr Gilbert (Greg Davies) was an actual teacher for 13 years, teaching English and Drama. He said in an interview that he loved playing as Mr Gilbert, as he could say the things he really want to say to students as a teacher but couldn't.
Mannnn the excitement on your face when you see the woman in the wheelchair, you can see the cogs turning in your head like 'aw man I really hope this is going where I think it is' 🤣 You two are awesome and your personality styles work perfectly together. Taylor the more quiet and stoic one, while Josh busts a lung at everything! Can't stop watching!
This show is so on point. When I was in school my group of friends were just like this and to this day were all good mates 30 years on and when we are together now it's exactly like then still ripping the shit out off each other
Honestly at a point I can’t even watch inbetweeners anymore cause I’ve seen it that many times. Yet still everytime I watch it I find a new bit funnier then the last time. That “just a friend from trials at West Ham that never happened” just reminded me of how many people in uk lie about trials at a club 😂 including myself.
these american uk tv reactors need to realise that theyre viewers are mainly uk because these imbetweeners and other uk shows reactions are always way more popular on multiple different channels that ive seen, yt just recommends them a lot more
it's funny..the most british bit at 5:08 that no one outside of UK doesnt understand followed by a dude puking on a kid, that no matter what language you speak, is hilarious. loved your video, all the best
I honestly believe us British have the best sitcoms! This, green wing, peepshow, spaced, only fools and horses, fawlty towers, the young ones and so many more!
It's great to see americans laughing at this, but you REALLY need to watch whole episodes. So much of the jokes are lost/out of context by not watching the whole thing/scene.
That was brilliant thanks so much for that 😂👍 Funny watching you guys out there enjoying something that's so familiar to me, school was JUST like this. Glad to see the humour translates well out there and you enjoyed it. Hope to see an "Inbetweeners movie" best parts 1 + 2 !!
Your reactions were great this was a massive show a few years ago in the uk, they are all good actors regularly on tv and films, Simon Bird ( will ) writes films ,tv shows etc. The guy who plays Simon was a maths teacher at this time, glad you get our sense of humour
If you liked this then you might like "Cuckoo" - especially the second series which had Taylor Lautner as a weird ex cult member ( I hate Twilight but he was hilarious in this). Greg Davis the head master in "The Inbetweeners" is his sort of surrogate dad. Actually anything Greg Davis is in is funny - check out his stories on The Graham Norton Show, he managed to make Russell Crowe guffaw and Ryan Gosling almost cry with laughter.

Greg Davies who plays the high schol head teacher is actually now a hilarious comedian, (used to be a teacher in real life) react to some of his if you can, won't regret it.
I love the inbetweeners. It came out just after I'd left 6th form and it's so spot on - the weekly effort to buy booze without getting ID'd. I went to school with boys like that - it was like watching my dickhead mates on TV! Haha.
The teacher, Greg Davies is also a comedian and appears on other shows, including Would I Lie To You. He's a pretty funny dude, especially when you learn he was an actual teacher prior to comedy 😂

5:04 that one was just too British for them lol
basically all the series including the moves, the whole pint of the tv show is that only British people will get the jokes
I think its more they don’t know the back story of the boys winding up Neil that his dad is gay
Not so Yummy mummy agreed, context is important in this clip
It’s also out of context as it doesn’t show what Neils dad is lime

It's the context that matters. It'd be funnier if the clip showed Neil's Dad walking in and shouting at them first.

You have to be British to truly appreciate the inbetweeners, reminiscent of British mates and a feelings of nostalgia.
