I love these "living room on wheels". This one is absolutely magnificent. It looks to have been maintained in tip top condition and garaged. The ride quality is so smooth, you'd barely feel like you were moving. They've got computer controlled ride control nowadays but this was just a well engineered union of spring rate and shock absorbers. And of course mile deep upholstery didn't hurt either.

Owned a 1978 Fleetwood limousine like this one - without partition - for a number of years and drove over 60K miles in it. It was black with a black vinyl top and grey velour interior. Completely stock. No boomerang antenna, which I don't like. We only added telephones front and rear with a public and private number to switch between. This is a downsize limousine. But regardless it being a pre- or post-downsize model, the limousines without partition are always more comfortable for the driver, unless the driver is short. I myself am 1,85 meter, and I am too tall for a partition limousine for a long drive. I can drive very comfortably in this non-partition limousine for hours on end. I used it for my livery business driving airline crews to and from the airport. Also did a lot of weddings and a number of proms. If we had to go to social events ourselves, we hired a chauffeur and sat in the back ourselves. When I sold it, it had driven over 200K miles and was still running strong. It was a VERY strong and reliable car. I am looking for a similar limousine again, as we want one for when we retire.
Wow unbelievable it was still running so well at 200k! Back then adding a phone was huge your clients must’ve been happy. It would be nice to retire and take it travelling on road trips. Hi from the surfer paradise coat of California, from someone who has combined cars and surfing since 1966 until this very day. Now I have a 1990 jeeplike toyota landcruiser, because I go offroad alot to uncrowded surf spots, when I began I choose between a '62 xk-e jaguar, a'49 chevy sedan delivery wagon, a morris minor woodie, and a chevy corvair van. Jags being complicated to maintain, I didn't choose this black hardtop roadster. Had many vans since then, enjoying stylin' them out, as a lifestyle and small business. One day in about 1995 a journey up the west coast from the mexican border to up in vancouver, with surfboards and my wife, was envisioned..... and we did it across a whole year. All in our Velvet Blue Interior exact same '77 fleetwood factory limo, silver in color, the ultimate cruiser camper!!!

I had a '78 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham with the D'Elegance interior. Loved it. Such a classy, comfortable machine. It wasn't without its flaws, which showed up as it got older (Late 70s Delco electronics....might as well have been made by Lucas of England.) but there wasn't a nicer way to have a comfortable long road trip. I'd love to get another one and modernize certain aspects of it while keeping the original appearance inside and out.
@@Throdle it was not a Lincoln, I meant to say Chrysler imperial Lebanon, I just thought the Lincoln was that for a second. This could comfortably sit 4 people, and it had a business coupè seating in the back with two fold down lock chairs. Man, that vehicle felt like being in nothing, each turn was hardly realized.
@@Throdle It sure was, we as well had a 1906 Oldsmobile sedan. My father's friend had a 1904 Tonneau and 1902 Pope tribune. We were all hyper traditionalists and restoring stock to the factory original was our game goal.
Hey man... I love your '77. Only year for those tail lamps!!! I love the '80 to '84 body styles and would be pleased to own one. I personally own a 2000 Deville 6 door 24 hour limo built by Federal Coach. I use it every Sunday to pick up elderly that no longer drive and run a church shuttle service with this car. I'm from Indiana but found the 6 door in Millville, New Jersey. I flew to Philly from South Bend and then an Uber to the limo's location in New Jersey. I bought it and drove it home. It had it's shares of flaws and dings. I sanded the car down and repainted it Texudo Black Metallic, a Ford Motor Company color, taking it from it's original GM black, which was WA8555. I refinished the wide "B" pillar that graces 4 opera lamps, in 8555 to mainstream the solid gloss black look that is on the rest of the door pillars alongside the car, but the rest is Ford's color. I was proud of its outcome. I chose a 6 door specifically for the practical needs of the seniors I provide service to. I enjoy providing the service weekly, no charge of course, as it's for the church. Many people truly have been blessed by its use. I never imagined I'd touch so many lives, but these seniors think it's fantastic. They tell their children families of the service provided and I've attended a few funerals and viewings as some of my guests have passed on. When their families ask of who I am or how I knew their deceased loved one, I tell them I was their driver from church and that we attended church together. It has been at those moments of conversation... I realized how much what I do meant to them and their family. I seriously have been so incredibly blessed to be able to do this service or "ministry" as some refer it as. Who would have thought I would be able to bless lives with a 26 foot 22 year old limousine. It's not worth a ton, no, but it is extremely beautiful. It's definitely a head turner and a service that is enjoyed by myself and my recipients. Blessings dude. Message me at darrengriffith12141980@gmail.com I would love go know you and your limousine. I am a land yacht lover of 1980s automobiles and don't think I didn't notice your bustle back Seville. I want one terribly. I would love to have a 1985 Commemorative Edition in Cotillion White with the two tone leather interior. 😍
We will definitely pass this message on! Thank you for sharing and such a kind thing you do for seniors. We’ve showcased Norman in quite a few videos and he does the same type of volunteer work!
In the early/mid '80's, I worked for a guy who had 3 limos along with some shuttle vans/cars for airport work. We were based in Orange, Calif so went all over SoCal. His other 2 limos were early '80's stretched Lincoln's. But he also had a Formal Caddy. As a driver, my personal preference regarding ride was for the Lincoln's. But I learned to drive in Cadillac's so I guess you could say, they were my first love! Unfortunately, the Formal did, indeed have a divider behind the front seat, and it was like having a board to lean back against. Very uncomfortable. Whenever I took that car anywhere, you really knew your place as just a driver, vs pampered client! On the other hand, the Caddy never left me stranded on the side of a freezing cold two lane in the dark half way between Victoville and Tahoe!! Lol!
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. Always wondered whether that divider was comfortable or not! Sounds like you don’t have one anymore but nice to know the love is still there 🔥
@@Throdle I worked for wages & tips. I didn't own the cars. I actually became a truck driver later on. As for comfort, that divider really took the fun out of it for me, the hired hand. Maybe not as bad as being in a very much older limousine with an open cab to the elements, and with passengers enclosed, since you were also enclosed. But it certainly reminded you, that you were the hired help! I actually did not know that the factory made any other sort of limo other than the Formal. This was very interesting to learn about. Thank you!
Loved the Video! I have the Exact same car. I bought it from a doctor 8 years ago & it's bin my daily driver ever since. These cars are rare now. 1976 Fleetwood 75 Series was the last year it was built at the factory. For 1977 a Sedan was sent to the Coach Builder that GM contracted with to have the vehicle stretched to the specifications as requested. When the series was downsized GM made changes to their manufacturing for the 75 Series. it came back in 1985 to 1987 as a front wheel drive version in formal and sedan models.
This is the Fleetwood Seventy-Five Sedan. The Seventy-Five limousine had an operable glass partition between the front and back seats and the front seat was always black leather no matter what the color of the back seat.
I was once with friends at a fundraiser. After the event, we were standing in front of the venue. A limo pulled up. Some folks from the event got out and invited us to their house for drinks and food. Who could refuse? So, we hopped in. Their house was five minutes away. We had wine and huge, homemaid oatmeal cookies. They had two huge standard poodles who tried to snatch my cookie. Fun times.

As far as Cadillacs standard sized cars, always liked the smaller 77-79 cars a bit more vs the 71-76 cars. But for the hulking 75 series limousine, give me the bigger 71-76 cars any day of the week.
Would make a nice weekend toy if you can find one. They're rare these days and usually found in barns all beat up and stripped out or all rusted out in the back of funeral homes. Hollywood wrecked a lot of them in movie stunts and some people freaked them all out with crazy paint and nasty ugly custom interior jobs because they didn't realize how rare these cars were. GM only produced around 2000 of these per year and 1984 was the last year for this body style with 1987 being the series finale. The 425 V8 used in this car is a smooth and strong performer that hauls ass oh so gracefully.

I do the maintenance on my Father-in-laws 1977 Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine. It is a dark red, I believe they call it Crimson with the matching Crimson leather interior. I was told that very few were made in this color. My daughters prom in 2019 was on May 4th, Star Wars day. It was Star Wars themed. Since Star Wars came out in 1977, we used this car to for their prom and they were chauffeured by Darth Vader. I was wondering if anyone knows how many limousines were built in 1977.
In this case even Cadillac is technically wrong, for a car to be called a limousine it has to have a partition between the from seat and the back seat. Up onto 1976, Cadillac used the term limousine, only on the automobile with the partition.

@@paulpalmtree9295 Surprised he didn't ask for them to be in pink!!! Check out this article on his collection - www.gq-magazine.co.uk/lifestyle/article/elvis-presley-car-collection
You are right, he had some amazing ones :-)
I love these "living room on wheels". This one is absolutely magnificent. It looks to have been maintained in tip top condition and garaged. The ride quality is so smooth, you'd barely feel like you were moving. They've got computer controlled ride control nowadays but this was just a well engineered union of spring rate and shock absorbers. And of course mile deep upholstery didn't hurt either.
Absolutely you're spot on! Norman has done a great job taking care of this beautiful limo. Thanks for your comment and sharing!
Wonderful vid ! The Fleetwood 75 series ..... The Queen Bee of all Cadillac's ... the ultimate ride .... The hearse models ... the final ride
Indeed…. Beautiful Cadillac. Hope you get to watch some of the other videos we have featuring Norman. We will be posting more of his Cadillac collection in the upcoming months as well 👍
Owned a 1978 Fleetwood limousine like this one - without partition - for a number of years and drove over 60K miles in it.
I am looking for a similar limousine again, as we want one for when we
retire.
Wow unbelievable it was still running so well at 200k! Back then adding a phone was huge your clients must’ve been happy. It would be nice to retire and take it travelling on road trips. It is very luxurious and easy to drive. Thanks for sharing!

I've had few occasions to ride in a limousine, most were to a funeral. This one is gorgeous! I once read a quote (don't remember who said it) claiming that umbrellas and limousines should always be black ;-)
It’s nice to have some color! Limos are great. Thanks for your kind words! 👍
Wow no way! Thanks for sharing it's always nice to hear from another Fleetwood owner. Congrats on being able to surf every day that's the life!

Would love to know more about the classic car scene in Germany.
@@Throdle Subsrciption is done :-). We got a great classic car scene, over here in Germany, many people invest their money in those old vehicles. There is a big community with classic american iron, like ol' Fleedwoods, Vettes, Eldorados, Chargers, Roadrunners, Connies, Mustangs, but most classics are from Europe, Facel Vegas, Mercers, BMWs, Jags and pre WW2 cars. Kindly regards to you, Nadine. Keep on doin' what you're doin', I wish you luck for the channel. Hugo :-)
@@hugostahlbaum8714 interesting there is such a big interest in American classic cars! We will need to film over there!
@@Throdle We have a couple of small us car clubs over here, most of the cars are owned by private persons who are not organized in clubs. They have some meetings with the cars, most of them you will find in Bavaria, Hamburg , the Rhine/Main area, Mannheim, Heidelberg and Kaiserslautern. All the places the US Forces have been or still are, many troopers left their cars here when they went back to the states or overseas. In the small town where I live, we got a shop and a dealer with old US cars, mostly muscle cars from the 60s/70s, like cuda, challenger etc...

The mid & dark blues are good for limousines, not as somber as black but still elegant and businesslike
Spot on! It’s nice to see a brighter color
I owned a 1971 Fleetwood and loved it.
Ooh lovely Cadillac
Great story behind how this car was named. True American story.
Absolutely. What a beautiful tribute
Would be nice if you could find one in decent condition! 👍. Ahhhh you gotta love British makers 😂
We had a funny story back in the days, used to call our Lincoln sedenatte 1972 a 8 seater just via width alone. Each seat held 4.
😂 tiny people!

Sounds like you don’t have one anymore but nice to know the love is still there 🔥
@@Throdle
I worked for wages & tips. Thank you!

The formal serie75 is an original Cadillac manufacture I'll keep it for ever I think !
I was 16 years old, I had just gotten my driver's license and I was a Cadillac freak so I applied as a for a job as a chauffeur, I told them I was 18 and much to my surprise I got the job. 🤫 I knew nothing about the business or even how to get around Chicago really and I was thrust right into it on my 1st job, The man training me drove into the heart of the city and told me to take him home, climbed into the back and went to sleep.
This was before GPS and I did not know where home was so I took him to the airport,( ORD ) That's not where he meant he meant Glenview which was close by but that's the only place I had seen that many limousines.
After that I caught on pretty quickly and did it for a whole summer. It sure was great driving those old Cadillac limousines....

I miss these cars so much. I also wanna rebuy this same limo for me and my dad but this time get the brougham edtion at least or brougham delagance if im lucky. With the old school aerial on the stock lol love it. The second last of the big Cadillacs with fins.
Wow great memories for you! Norman has an amazing collection - one car per decade. And we’ve posted a few more of his Cadillacs. Hope you get to check them out and surprise your dad with an amazing one!
They actually dropped the Seventy-Five name for the 1977 model year.
It looks amazing! 🤩

Fun times.
Those are the friendliest people ever. What a great story!

As far as Cadillacs standard sized cars, always liked the smaller 77-79 cars a bit more vs the 71-76 cars. But for the hulking 75 series limousine, give me the bigger 71-76 cars any day of the week.
You know your Cadillacs 🔥
Would make a nice weekend toy if you can find one. They're rare these days and usually found in barns all beat up and stripped out or all rusted out in the back of funeral homes. Hollywood wrecked a lot of them in movie stunts and some people freaked them all out with crazy paint and nasty ugly custom interior jobs because they didn't realize how rare these cars were. GM only produced around 2000 of these per year and 1984 was the last year for this body style with 1987 being the series finale. The 425 V8 used in this car is a smooth and strong performer that hauls ass oh so gracefully.
Didn’t realise that Hollywood did that what a shame. 🥲

In this case even Cadillac is technically wrong, for a car to be called a limousine it has to have a partition between the from seat and the back seat. Up onto 1976, Cadillac used the term limousine, only on the automobile with the partition.
