One more thing: pretty important to put dielectric grease on the spark plug boots before you reinstall the DI cassette. You do NOT want the rubber boot tearing the next time you need to remove it. It will trash the whole DIC if the cooling oil leaks out of the boot cover.
No need to keep the direct ignition casette upright on these T7 engines. No oil in them at all unlike the older casettes. The oil in the older casettes is contained anyway. Also no need for anti-seize as the NGK plugs are coated anyway and NGK don't recommeny additional anti sieze.
Thanks for the video. Anyway with so much anti sieze on NGK s.plugs you can trigger "engine light" code... NGK does not recommend use of anti sieze at all!
Duchess DIY you right and saab cars aren't easy to fix either and hace the ability to work on this because a lot of women out there they won even get close to a car like this and you look very professional as a professional mechanic I can tell you. You doing amazing job on that car
Not dumb at all. To the best of my knowledge, your 9-3 looks a lot like my 9-5. As long as we're talking they older models. A picture of the 9-3 engine looks just like my 9-5. I don't know about the oil filter though. I suppose climb under the passenger rear wheel and see if it's there or not.
Another great video. That's 3 of your videos that will help me out, thank you. I need to replace my Direct Ignition and I might as well put new plugs in when doing that. So this shows me both things.... BUT.... Why is it important to keep the D.I. upright? I've just ordered a replacement (used) and I doubt the postman (or the seller) will care which way up it is when they handle it....
Hi mono stone. It has something to do with the internal "workings" (there's my amateur showing) of the oil inside. When you get it new just place it right side up for a good 30 minutes before you install it. This will ensure the oils are flowing in the correct direction. Glad this was helpful!
Duchess DIY Ah I had no idea that was needed. I would have most likely had it the other way up (since it would sit naturally flat on its back) if I hadn't seen your video. So helpful! Thank you again.

Thanks luisgeo27! I like making the videos, but hopefully I'll get this 15 year old car figured out and won't have to do so many repairs anymore. ;-)

slot 2 on my 9-5 doesn't allow my spark to sit straight up, any idea why?
Dumb question but im going to ask anyways is your car somewhat similar to the 9-3 saab under the hood? Also for changing the oil and oil filter?
