You did a fine job. I replaced mine this a.m., had company stop by, went back at it when they left. Put all Bach together, fired it up, and it looked like 4th of July in the carburetor air intake. I plant trees for a living, not a mechanic. It then dawned on me I never set the gap it was a ways away from new ‘wheel. Also, the coil pack ( the one that was good on yours, wasn’t connected to the damn wire! I thought I would be at John Deere Monday morning looking for a new machine, thinking I ruined mine. But I didn’t. This Kawasaki engine has just a thousand hrs on it and runs like a champ. I used a feeler gauge it’s like .0310 or something. ( a biz card) Back together, went to start it , yessir! She fired right up! Mowed my own 3 acres ( looked like it was getting ready to be taken back from the bank I couldn’t stand it how tall it was). But it’s mowed. No clumps, no raking or blowing extra grass, and most importantly it kept my battery charged! I was cringing watching you try to do that job with that stuff in the way. You kept your cool. Way to go buddy. Thank you 🌳
Thanks. I’m glad it all worked out for you and there wasn’t any permanent damage to your machine when you forgot to set the gap. That could have been bad. Thanks for your comments. I enjoyed reading it.
Thanks for the instructional video. It was exactly what this novice needed for some great guidance. I changed the coil on a Kawasaki FS730V on a Bad Boy Maverick mower with only a couple of differences from your mower engine. On the FS730V motor the screw that holds the oil dipstick had to come all the way out. On the left side of the housing is a vacuum hose that had to be unclipped and removed. Also on the back left corner of the housing is a clip for a fuel line that is held by one of the cover screws, so it had to come all the way out too.
Great job detailing how to replace the ignition coil. Based on past experience, I recommend changing both coils. I say this because previously my mower repair person tested both coils and recommended changing the defective coil. A week later, I was back to replace the other coil that had also gone bad. I had rather change both at the same time rather than have to disassemble the engine twice.
I only replaced one coil as shown in the video and as of two years later, the other original coil is still working fine. If changing both coils gives you piece of mind, then by all means do both of them. Thanks for your comment.
I'm glad you liked the video and found it helpful. I didn't show re-assembly or testing at the end because I was trying to keep the video from getting to long.
I have the same exact mower and I bought it for 700 and it needed work plus a new carburetor. She’s now not running and turns over on low and will idle there on low two things are that when she’s running on low the blades are spinning wo me pulling to engage them when I pull the choke to full power she will die . Prior to this she would just stop while I was mowing. So I bought two new spark plugs & installed them but she only idle on low & still won’t start . Thanks for showing exactly how ya kept the correct gap .
Thanks a million, my exact problem with my Kawasaki 31 HP Bad Boy Outlaw. Earlier today, I had determined that one side wasn't firing, added new plugs with nil results and then came across your video! Can't thank you enough for taking the time to help us. :-) Andy K

I have a Bobcat 19 horsepower Kawasaki and while it's running it'll act like it's choking for gas i change the fuel filter a change the gas lines you can squeeze one of the lines then all sudden it takes off again
Great video, thanks for putting this put there for us. Question: If Ive doe all of this and I still don’t have spark on that cylinder, what would be my next steps? Thanks again,
So I tried pretty much everything I was able to find in your videos. I have a Kawasaki FR730 on a zero turn. It seemed to be giving me “dirty carburetor” trouble. I say this because every time I used carburetor cleaner I was able to cut two acres of grass. I refuel every month and use stabilizer. I decided it was easier to replace the carburetor than take it apart and clean it so I bought one on Amazon that brings fuel pump and air filter. I replace it and it bogs down if I increase the throttle too fast or when I put a load on it. I check if both cylinders were firing, I changed the sparks, oil and tightened the springs that go to the governor. It starts and gets to full throttle if I increase it very slowly. Once there it starts to misfire and eventually die out. Not sure what to do.
Mine also only starts with the choke on, but it runs like a dream, so I don't want to adjust anything on it that isn't necessary. Thanks for your comment.
I have bobcat procat with the Kawasaki fx730v and it is doing exactly as you described in this video. Went ahead and changed out both spark plugs and both coils. Same issue, unfortunately. any thoughts or advice as to what the issue may be? bad valve on bad side? Thanks for all your videos.
for some reason i have a Kholer 942237A motor and it is on a bobcat lawnmower zero turn commercial , and i can't find any videos on this mower, i don't know what they call my system and was looking for the how to remove the coils , you see what i did was jump my mower with my truck battery and burnt the positive post on the battery and i think i burnt my coils out 2 of them, now i had to buy a new battery and now i am replacing my coils
That doesn't sound like a coil pack to me, but it possibly could be. I had engine sputter when mine got up to temp when my oil level was low. Check that. Also when was the last time that you changed your fuel filter? That may need to be changed. Sputtering when it gets to operating temp sounds more like a fuel delivery or low oil thing. Check those first. If you were saying that it would sputter when you put it under load, like engaging the blades or blades and driving at the same time, then I would say that it could be a coil problem. It is really hard to diagnose stuff without it in front of me. I would start with the cheapest and easiest things first. Check your oil level, check your fuel filter, then check air filter, then move on to other things. I hope this gives you a place to start. After you do those, then check out this video I made of ruling out other stuff related to the coils, that could help determine if you have a bad coil. ua-cam.com/video/JaCTgwOOa2s/v-deo.html Thanks for the question.

I didn’t know my Kawasaki 7H721V had 2 coils and 2 spark plugs. On my it’s gotten to where it dies on me from bogging down so much when engage the cutter. Where is a good place to buy the Kawi coils?
I got mine on Amazon. Here is where I got mine. Just make sure the ones you get are compatible with your engine. It probably would be a good idea to go ahead and replace both of them while you have it all taken apart. amzn.to/3nMp7Hc
Great instruction video. I need to replace the stator on my twin cyclinder Kawasaki engine on my John Deere zero turn mower (Z445). Your video got awfully close to removing the flywheel and reaching the stator. I wonder if you are aware of a video on replacing the stator or if you'd make video showing how?
