    While screwing into end grain is a big no-no, if you must, predrill, install screws. Then remove the screws and soak each hole with CA glue and let cure. This will increase the holding power of the screws and should last a long time. I have done this out of necessity and it has worked well.

    • @kbanghart
      @kbanghart 6 місяців тому

      Do you let the glue dry and THEN insert the screws?

    • @marvinrayweast
      @marvinrayweast 6 місяців тому +1

      Yes let the glue cure or spray it with an accelerator to harden instantly. It turns the wood into sort of a plastic insert.@@kbanghart

      @@marvinrayweast nice. Thanks for the fast response! Maybe you could help me with something.. trying to attach casters to a 2x4 wood frame. There are previous screw holes, so either I somehow attach them a different way, or fill in the existing holes and use those. Or if the caster base is too wide for 2x4 I'm not sure my next step.

      @kbanghart 6 місяців тому +2

      @@marvinrayweastoh maybe I just solved part of it.. I can add extra 2x4 pieces inside the existing frame to build a bigger surface area

    I totally agree with you on the hight of the bench. I've seen terrible workbenches in my life already. It is so low, I call them workout benches. My one is just above my belt and you can sit or stand next to it while you work.

    These wheels are one of the BEST FINDS for the price!! 🤫 I wish you didn't say where you got them. I have to get a few more sets and I don't want the price to go up. I have the black ones with the cut outs old style. I use them on almost everything. Thanks for sharing on what type of replacement screws to use. I wasn't sure. I have a few different styles of wheels and the new sets I got are like yours with the bolt kit that wouldn't really work for my desks, work benches, and cabinets I am building for my art studios. I am living in a warehouse and need wheels on everything to move things by myself. A few times they have been sold out.

    I would have added a wood 1/2" plate to the end of those legs that way those lag screws don't come out over time.

      How do you add the 1/2” plate to the end of the legs?? Wouldn’t you still have to drill into the end grain to install the plate? Or do you use construction adhesive? I need to mount casters today and need additional info. Thanks

    You think those wheels would support a 67 mustang body. Im making a body cart and im just not sure about those wheels. Car body probably weights between 800-1200 pounds. You think they would work?

    • @ATEMOFFROAD
      @ATEMOFFROAD  4 роки тому +2

      MILEHIGH JAX they say they are rated at 300 lbs each , so if you have the load balanced across all fours wheels evenly, it’s going to be close to the limit.. to be on the safe side maybe go up one more in size or rating. They are a solid wheel and glide nice , that’s for sure.

      @@milehigh3054 I strongly urge you to consider steel casters for that type of heavy weight. In my experience, you need to purchase casters that can support double the weight that is applied to them. Also, the larger the diameter, the easier it is for them to roll.
