    I can’t thank you enough for this video! The supplied instructions are catastrophic. From the misspellings (“two inches from the button”) to the lack of detail and clarity, they are practically worthless. You clarified everything including the flexibility in positioning the mounting plate based on desired clearance and the need to rotate the wheels to achieve proper vertical lifting force. Thank you!

    This video is very helpful. The very terrible instructions that came with mine state to mount the plate 1.4" from the floor for a 3/4" rise. So your suggestion of 1.75" for a lower rise works for me; nevertheless, other commenters pointing out that increasing this dimension gives a lower rise and vice versa helped clear things up. And I know from experience to pretty much never use provided hardware. I will use my own flat head wood screws for the mounting plate. Thank you!

    if you only move cabinets on occasion, just purchase one set of those, then purchase just the mounting plates for the other cabinets. remove the casters from one and with those pins, and quickly install them in another cabinet.
    so all your cabinets will have only the mounting plates and one with the whole set up.

    I bought this set but was unable to slide the castor plate into the mounting plate. The rounded head of the screws they provided did not allow for enough clearance… even with the screws aligned with the chamfered hole. So I will either have to use flathead screws or mount the castors directly to the leg… which defeats the purpose of having them removable.

      I would contact them and make them aware of the problem. Perhaps they will remedy the situation.

    If 2" gives 3/4 in lift, how does putting the wheels closer the floor decrease lift? You are giving it less travel before it hits the floor, making it raise higher...

      You are correct. That is what we call a "senior moment". Thanks for pointing that out.

    Great video! I am a little confused - wouldn’t lowering the mounting holes by 1/4” raise the final level by 1/4”?

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  Рік тому +1

      You're absolutely correct. I had a stupid moment - recorded for perpetuity. I should not have been relying on the measurements from the base of the speed square - they start from inside the base. Even so, good catch and thanks for pointing it out and keeping me straight.

  • @lexitejeda6209
    @lexitejeda6209 Рік тому +1

    To keep these from sticking out on both sides of the workbench, is there any reason I should not install the front 2 casters on the insides of the legs (so they are out of the way), and the back 2 on the forward-facing side of the legs (so that I can reach them)?

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  Рік тому

      As long as it doesn't get off balance or top heavy I don't see why it should matter.

    How can I purchase more of the mounting plates? That way I could mount multiple sets of plates on my equipment and move the casters around to the equipment that needs moving. So 3 pieces of equipment = 3 sets of mounting plates and one set of 4 casters. Where can I find more plates?

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  2 роки тому +1

      Good idea. My thought would be to follow the link in the description and find contact information for the manufacturer. Perhaps they can sell you extra plates.

    I have a question ? I’m just seeing your video about these casters and I was wondering if you think they would work on my gun safe , ? Being that it has a steel body and not a wooden frame….. I’m not sure how thick the walls are and I may have to get longer bolts … the safe doesn’t weigh as much as your oven , it’s probably 300 lbs ? Thanks GAC

    • @TigerCreekFarm

      Should do a good job. The only question is drilling the holes (thickness/hardness).

      I don't believe that any repair you attempt to do on casters will last - since the fatigue in the metal is causing it to fail. Best and safest bet is to purchase a new one.

    What kind of screws did you use to mount the plate and how did you drill the holes?

    • @TigerCreekFarm
      @TigerCreekFarm  4 роки тому

      You should use a flat head/ tapered head wood screw so it sits into the chamfered recess in the plate. I believe I used 1/4 x 20 about an inch long. Just line the plate up where it needs to be, mark the holes then drill a 1/8” hole.

      It appears that TCF used "(JIS) Pan Headed" screws (i.e. - 'Phillips Round Head Pan' as opposed to the '[ANSI] Flat Head Pan' screws) not flathead screws which I agree should have been used.

    For crying-out-loud man - figure out what you are going to say before you start recording and quit fumbling around with the product so we can focus on it!
    There are so many contradictions in what you are saying that most newbies would totally NOT grasp the concepts you are trying to portray.
    i.e. - Lowering the mounting location will RAISE the component cabinet more when the lift mechanism is engaged - NOT LESS.
    Sheesh!
